Obviously you didnt understand my post because I was agreeing w/acid burn. I was using variables for examples,I didnt say he was using ported or sealed or power to each etc etc, they were just offsets that affect the outcome.Basicly apples to apples 18 ftw over 2 12s.Now bring enclosures and power variations into it like tejcurrent said the install will decide the win.
  5. lee replied to J.C's topic in Fi Products
other than enclosure design differences, the 18 still has cone area advantage. Its the same series of woofer so excursion etc. is equal.Full power into the 18 vs. half power into each 12 so the only offset to me would be 18 sealed vs. 12s ported for the 12s to win this!
  6. Just a few questions,1st does this option mean you get 3 spiders instead of the usual 2? 2nd question,is this the same spider pack as the bl? 3rd question,is there still a pole port on the back of the magnet or does the plug fill this area? Pretty much what Im saying is do they look like the btl at the magnet?Maybe a pic will help alleviate this.
  7. all depends on what u like.do whats been good to u in the past.or u can try something new if u have the resources to scrap an attempt or 2.obviously 2 18s will be loud sealed or ported.let me know.
  8. from what I here 12-15 sq in of port per cf of air space is ideal.my calculations show 105 sq in port at 7 cubes @15 per cube ft,so 210 inches of port @14cubes for two.I dont know how it would sound until u try it.personaly I would go sealed with those, they seem to be a bottom octave sub.My .02

I was just curious about the specs on the lineup, specificly the Q.Maybe its just the picture but the Q18 looks like it has a small mag.Whats the weight of the whole sub?whats the mag weight in oz?Im sure its designed for that application but the BTL is the only sub that looks proportionate.Dont get me wrong everything Fi does I like.My eyes have a hard time with big sub little mag.Hope this makes sense to everybody!
  13. lee replied to lee's topic in General Fi
so the 18''Q has only one spider?you specify it as having two in the paragraph.
  14. lee posted a topic in General Fi
what are the pros&cons of 1 spider vs 2,stiff , compliant etc? I noticed the Q's have two spiders,BL's have three,BTL's have four. Please explain,I want some details thanks!
