i have two SSA ICON 12's in a custom built ported box but my amp keeps going into protection after a while, i kno i can turn it down, but i like the power. i kno these subs can definitely handle it, im currently running a 1100 watt CRUNCH amp. what size amp should i be looking for and what gauge wire do i need to run to handle it i thought about buying another 1000watt and running to amps. pros/ cons greatly appreciated thanks, zack

i dont kno a hole bunch, if anything about sub ohms and power and stuff, when the guy who built my box rewired them he said they were wired at .5ohms, can i go back to .5 ohms then and find a .5ohm stable amp?

im thinkin like 2-3 hundred, i kno it isnt much but im looking to find a used one

okay im running my subs at 2ohms but my amp isnt 2ohm stable, its a crunch 1100wat i kno someone selling a sony 1000watt 2ohm stable amp, is it worth it? he's selling for 35 bucks, (he needs cash quick) but is it worth it?

Ya the migraine kustoms guy said if and when I get a bigger amp I should go to zero gauge on power, ground and one other thing I can't think of at the moment

what kinda wattage am i looking for?

well im not gunna spend more on an amp then i did my entire system. the amp i have works fine now, it isnt huge but it sounds good. i dont plan on spending more then 3 or 4 hundred bucks can i wire two amps together or is it better to have just 1

The amp I have now isn't 2ohm stable, so I need one that is. After a couple things I've learned from this thread and put into use, the amp doesn't shut off and go into protection like it use to. So at least I don't have that problem until I get a new amp. It would be a huge help if someone could give me a couple examples of amps that would be good for my setup, Thanks for everyones help! i kno theres a ton of ways to tune an amp but i've never heard to crank everything. usually you set the bass to 0 and turn your head unit to 3/4 volume

whats wrong with it? i thought it was a pretty good spot. all you need is a metal on metal contact?

a new amp will have to come tho, mine isnt 2ohm stable and when i get one that is, holy hell will my car rock im gunna turn the box around tomorrow, with the port facing the seats, should be a lot louder

thats the kinda stuff i wanna learn cause to me "bass boost" im thinkin hell ya make it louder lol. but i lowered it to 4 and nothing bad happened!! im already happy

okay so i lowered the bass boost and the L+ a little twenty minute round trip to get some dominoes and i had it CRANKED to test it and it didnt shut off

i agree with you, the amp gets so hot that you seriously cant touch it and as soon it shuts off the "protection" light comes on
