Welcome to the IHoP
My extra PC is my old laptop. I'll talk to my roommate some more, he has been dabbling in that area lately.

hmm let me know when you have more information.

Lol, then in that case you could do a persistent os install on a thumbdrive. You'd have to check their bios, and make sure removable media / usb has a higher boot priority then their hdds. I assume I would only have to enter "setup" before the system boots correct?

One thing I do want to do that doesn't really have anything to do with the previous posts is I would like to make my own cloud drive. I'm not sure what it would take but their would be a range of features I would hope to come up with. 1. Pretty much all Dropbox features. Syncing, auto updating files, sharing specific synced folders with friends etc... But add in a way that I could share only certain info with my own certain computers would be nice (this is not particularly easy on dropbox). 2. The ability to visit my own site online to download anything to other computers (again like Dropbox) or the ability to share a url with someone so they can easily download a file (I know you have done this for me Stefan). 3. It would also be great if I could remotely delete everything from my computers or remotely add an encrypted password if a computer was taken (This would probably be hard because you could block the device from accessing the internet if stolen). 4. This would all be on my server, with capacity only limited by my hard drives and I could always make backups weekly in such a way that isn't cumbersome to me. I would use my old laptop as the server set up in what ever fashion would make it possible.

Welcome to the IHoP
Maybe, i was just trying to feel like James Bond. On all my "work" computers I can do anything I want to (mostly because I wouldn't do anything past regular surfing), but it would be cool to grab a friends comp, throw in a stick and boot up something with all of my info to scare them or do something cool.

I don't either.... I'm glad we are on the same page

Welcome to the IHoP
That is one great thing about Texas. When winter comes electric bills are tiny because you can normally just leave the windows open. If it's cold you can cook chili and bake some corn bread and that will likely provide enough heat. At night a big war comforter is sufficient.

Sad they overcooked it. Haha, well there was plenty of pink in the middle. It may have been cooked less, but comparing hamburger doneness to steak seems a little different.

Hey Stefan, I'm not sure where you posted it, but did you say that your computer boots through a flash drive and if you don't plug in the flash drive it boots a clean copy of Windows? I'm curious because I was wondering where you computer stores data with the flash drive plugged in and if it stores it on the Hard Drive is it accessible or visible at all through the windows side. I was thinking that it would be cool to set up some very specific system that I could run from multiple computers. I remember reading that you can use a computer as an extra WAP or I could setup a slim version of Linux with any data I may need, or that allows me access to things I couldn't get on others computers. If I could make it work I could store it all on a 4gb micro SD and with simple adaptors I could run it via USB or SD Card slot in a Raspberry Pi computer (something I've been looking for a reason to buy.)

Welcome to the IHoP
So I just went to a mobile food truck called Chef Tai Mobile Gourmet. I have been there a couple times before and gotten a series of sandwiches that have been really good. The guy tell me that their Wagyu burger is the best burger in town, so I try it out skeptically because another place in town is pretty damn good. HOLY FREAKING CRAP! It was the best burger that I have had. The burger was actually cooked a little under medium, the bread was great, the toppings were awesome. It was fantastic. The other kicker are their fries are made with truffle oil or something and they are freaking delicious. This is how it's described on their site,

Here's to double the protein.

Welcome to the IHoP
Just made a protein shake for after workout. Started drinking it and realized I doubled the serving because my other protein requires 2 scoops and this one doesn't.

Then my laptop will be out for you. I don't do enough of that for it to matter

Welcome to the IHoP
U36SD. One thing I noticed as well is the laptop you listed has a better screen. I've always been satisfied with 780 but if 900 is useful for you then that is a factor.

The only thing that would bother me is the CPU power and the price. For comparison, here is my new laptop (vs the proposed). 2nd gen i5 2.4GHz (1.7), 640 HDD (128SSD), 5600 mAh battery (6840 mAh) [mine still last for 7hours], 1.66 kg (1.3kg), 1.9 cm (1.3 cm) $540 ($1005) So for twice the price you lose a lot of processing and storage, but also lose a little weight and thickness, and gain some battery.

Welcome to the IHoP
The ability for quick startups, better gaming, better battery life, and quieter. That being said, booting from sleep isn't too bad, I haven't installed a game yet, battery life is amazing, and I've never heard my hard drive...

Welcome to the IHoP
So I know you guys made a strong argument for SSD not truly being worth more than HDD, but damn I want one. If anything I would at least want a Seagate Hybrid

By the way, I love my Benelli Nova Pump. Such a beast in the field.

Welcome to the IHoP
So this weekend I got to go on a dove hunt in Uvalde. I freaking love bird hunting, and especially, dove hunting because the weather is perfect (in the 60's and not freezing) you don't have to sit still like deer hunting and shooting dove to me is like playing a first person shooter where your only job is to shoot things out of the sky, and you get to eat when your done. Now though, my shoulders (yes both) are freaking sore. I shot so much left handed that I started alternating left and right each hunt to allow my left shoulder time to recover.

At one point we thought people were stealing our internet so we renamed our router "FBI Condemned (Formerly - Linksys)"

Also looks like the chinese sell a LCD controller that is cheap enough to consider as it will turn my old laptop screen into a full fledged super thin monitor

Welcome to the IHoP
What kind of computer is it and what is wrong? Let me know if you will be throwing it away. There is really so much out there that it is hard to make strong recommendations. I will say that I was drawn to Asus, Lenovo, and Samsung for the type of computers I was looking at. I never do docking stations so I don't know what to say there. Ironically enough. I was about to post about how my new laptop battery will not die. This is my 3rd day owning it, it didn't come fully charged, and I plugged it in with 25% because I'm going on a trip today and want it full for it. The only problem I have had with it so far is that it seems like the spacebar may b a little bit finicky. I may be just getting used to it though.

I worked out at the house today. Pushups, pullups, planks, some squats, standing curls, and coffee table tricep dips

Oh, my damn water is out so I'm going to the meeting smelling like post workout.

That is what I want to do but I don't have a monitor and don't want to pay for one right now. Though, if I can sell my Samsung 19" flatscreen TV I'll try it out. The TV won't work for a monitor because it's resolution support is crap.
