  10. So tonight I cooked a choice strip using my normal cast iron sear. I still got a little char even though I felt like I kept the heat down and I used a pre-melted butter coating and did ~1min per side. However, I finished it in the oven at 300°F and I don't think I need to finish it any other way again. I let it get to 120°F and pulled it out of the oven. It rose exactly 5° in the 5 minutes I let it sit. The transition from the sear to the meat was very minimal and looked awesome. it didn't look under cooked and it was extremely tender.

  15. Matt2 couldn't find quite what you were talking about with the cain 660 but picked up a Ovliva Series 0 Torpedo 6.5x52 tonight. It was fun to smoke on. Much more fun if I had a seat in my back yard.
  16. I don't get it. It allows you to transport 10" speakers so you don't have to put them in your back seat.

  18. By the way by strong I didn't mean by proof. Heck I really didn't mean strong most likely. I meant something with a distinct and unique flavor, which I associate with "stronger" bourbons and whiskey.

  21. I really like all kinds of whiskey. I really like Crown Reserve. I had that Kentucky whiskey and loved it, but of course it is completely different in taste. Though tonight I'm looking for a strong whiskey. I haven't had any rye whiskey in a long time. I think the last one I had was Jim Beam Rye

  23. Grabbing a good bottle of whiskey tonight. Any suggestions? I grabbed a bottle from a small distiller in Kentucky at specs last time and it was awesome.
  24. This weekend I'm getting to go eat at a place called Sugar and Smoke in Fredericksberg where the chef there works with Wagyu and prides herself in having a farm to table menu. ...and did I mention I don't have to pay because it's my birthday? Unfortunately in a way, she was featured on Chopped on Sunday. I hope that she doesn't get swamped on Saturday.
