  1. It just wouldn't happen with them. But for my desktop I will definitely look into it. Thanks.
  2. This is for my Dad and my mom occasionally gets on My Mom called me 2 days ago and asked what to click on to get to the internet, "Do I click the the e or foxfire?"
  3. So it was good enough before, it is just getting slower? Sounds like you need to reinstall Windows XP. 4. Freshly reinstalled PC, save money. We took it to someone about 2 years ago when the HD crashed. He saved most of the info off of it, put in a new HD and a fresh copy. My dad said he still wasn't happy with the comp. Also I have a dell with a pentium 4 2.4Ghz and 512mb RAM that can't handle my basic surfing needs (maybe I should upgrade my ram but thats a different story) It looks like the Dell 4300's used a proprietary Motherboard so you can only replace it with other Dell Mobos? (tell me if this doesn't seem right) Which would leave me to option 1 and 2 For option 1 I found an i3-530 (2.92GHz 4mb cache) with 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 4 DIMM, 320GB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache, w/ USB Keyboard and mouse (not needed but it is included) and Win7 for $530 Now I just have to beat that with option 2...
  4. New Desktop for Surfing - SSA Car Audio Forum Started a thread for it
  5. Alright I'm starting a topic here because there is a lot of discussion in the H0P and I wanted to keep it all straight My Dad wants a new desktop. Our current one has a Pentium 4 1.5Ghz, 512mb of RAM, 127gb HD (replaced after it crashed), DVD-RW (recently purchased) and a CD-RW all housed in a Dell Inspiron 4300 case. We have a mouse, keyboard, new flatscreen monitor and speakers that can all be carried over to the new comp. The reason he wants a new computer is because this one is getting ridiculously slow. I honestly don't understand considering we do the same thing on it for years (and recently had it reformatted when the HD crashed), but I guess parts just get old? My options are... 1. Buy a new tower from Dell (Easy, Plug and Play, Dad approved) 2. Built a new computer in a new tower (supposedly cheaper, Dad could be talked into it) 3. Replace guts of old computer with new internals (Basically the same as #2 but cheaper) I'm a fan of 3, but is there anyway to be sure what I'm buying is going to fit into the housing? I'm also looking for an Intel i(3,5,7) processor. Feel free to discuss Edit: Budget is around $500-600 including the OS (And I'm not going to steal an operating system from the net)
  6. from the sounds of it something running a 64 bit OS with a good chunk of RAM and you should be set. I garuntee my quad core would be more than enough for his needs, but since the I cores are out you could get an i3 or i5. Sean just slapped together something pretty good for real real cheep recently I know. I think he used an i3. Does the size of the case matter? You could just use the old case and same some $ though. What do you think the budget is? Size of the case doesn't matter. For budget I'll say $600. I will also have to buy an OS. Should I go Win7 or stick with XP? What do I need to look for in a case? I saw this combo on new egg that looks pretty good. Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!
  7. Where should I shop for good computer parts. My dad basically uses the computer for surfing the net and email, so he doesn't need spectacular video cards and all that, but I want him to have something that will last a while. (Our current PC is at least 6 years old)
  8. I would fucking love to build a computer. A project that someone else pays for???? shyeah. And if it will give my Dad more for less I can talk him into it
  9. My dad is looking into getting a new desktop. Our family is big fans of Dell and I'm sure that's what he'll be getting. I was looking at processors and noticed an Intel® Core™ i5-650 processor(4MB Cache, 3.20GHz) is much less than the Intel® Core™ i5-750 processor(8MB Cache, 2.66GHz) Can someone explain the cache to me and why is makes such a big difference? Also looked at a comp with AMD Athlon™ II X4 Processor 630 (2.8GHz, 2M, 4C) Anyone know how the AMD compares to the i3 and i5?

  17. Older than the guy....although seeing her hands would really help. Wow.............I thought my father and I were the only guys who used hands as an aging guide on women. Honestly I wanna say she is about 30. I say this beacuse it looks like she may of had some work done or a nice bit of makeup (but not caked on). Btw on an off topic note, DUST STORMS FUCKING BLOW!!!! (pun intended) J She just turned 16 last month...

  20. So after thinking of it I'm retarded. The times are 45 min apart. The games last 90 min. The Spanish channel separates into two halfs the English channel doesn't
  21. K, So I'm watching the spanish and english channels for the world cup and on the american channel the time shows 69:00 and the Spanish channel shows 24:00.... I checked and the broad casts are within seconds of each other.... Anyone know why?

  24. Know anyone in an industry that would be looking to hire a co-op/ intern with a degree? Or any Bad ass companies looking for entry level engineers? Looks like I may not get into grad school until next fall if A&M doesn't come through . I'm fairly certain I can get my schooling paid for so I'd rather not commit myself to a company (like a real job) before grad school, unless its some crazy bad ass company, then I'm down... Not exactly, but could maybe help point you in a direction. Any particular areas you'd like to live? Texas duh! What I really want to do is intern co-op so i have the option of going to any school I please without being obligated to the company (Unless its a bad ass company with a position available in Texas ) So I really would live anywhere because I want to be doing this for approximately a year before I head to grad school and I know I could handle working any where for that long. Yes I'm not being specific, but that's all I can give you lol
