  2. Me thinks 30mpg = myth
  3. the 100hp chip helps alot! so u pretty much in coast mode now since baja is over? sort of. Can really spend my time getting grad school and jobs stuff figured out now. Though I just spent 3 hours talking with D. Jones about next years car. May have already finalized the new gearbox lol. So next years team has already, officially, bought their new gearbox. Well, I guess you could say so. They have to get it in, strip it of all the internals they don't want (reverse, shift linkages, etc...) and start designing a custom CNC'ed Aluminum case.
  4. T0P!

  6. Guess I should mention the 100hp chip helps a bit too
  7. I've had my dad's truck for the last week (F-250 7.3L Turbo Diesel) and am loving the turbo. So amazing when everything spools up
  8. Sounds like the little lady got banged up pretty bad what was the scenario peng? any worse than Tater's (my neighbors dog) new mystery wound?
  9. We really didn't do as well as expected but we did finish up the endurance race yesterday with a working car. Just found out the unofficial results are posted. 41st overall Mainly the competition objective of making a vehicle for the average weekend off road enthusiast is pretty much a lie. Some how teams with chromoly frame custom platics and carbon fiber panels can cost less on the cost report then a team with Carbon Steel DOM, and aluminum body panels. We didn't get any kind of points for being one of very few teams that passed tech inspection first try. Then they gave away an "attention to detail" award for teams that were always prepared, and had all there registration covered, etc... Something we always did and then they give the award to Cornell, a fancy team that didn't even pass tech the first time. Because their Chromoly is all donated. you still have to put it in the cost report.

  12. Incompatible Browser | Facebook wtf???
  13. umm... thats not an intake manifold....
  14. Picked 3 of the elite 8 and 1 of the final 4 I'm proud of myself
  15. So the "official" mics they use in those competitions aren't even accurate?
  16. Radioshack legal lol by legal I mean he actually was on a real mic. He just has the radio shack meter for shitzengiggles "real" mic? I'll do a bit more research. Duran sounds like he could be correct As far as I know the audio shop in town has a real setup and competitions on the reg. Never been there so I don't know there setup I severely doubt they have a "real" mic. Not many people are willing to pay for what would truly be required to measure in a calibrated fashion and even if they do, they don't know how to use it.

  18. I'm not a big SPL fan, but I will commend my buddies work. 4 15's in a Montero, walled off now with 4 RF 1500's (used to be 2). I "listened" with 2 and it was entirely too loud, which is just perfect for SPL ofcourse. He also completely fiberglassed the roof up front over some MDF, that shit is solid

  20. My buddy has a cheap radio shack meter so I put it in my truck yesterday. 103db full tilt on a rap song And his Montero did 150db legal yesterday lolz
  21. It occurred at normal listening levels, no rocking out. Tweeters do not sound strained at all. EQ is flat all the way. Don't believe there is anything interfering with the tweeter mounting
  22. Tweeter Problem - SSA Car Audio Forum Soliciting for help
  23. Background info 02 Silverado Active 2-way (Seas Prestige ER18RNX Woofers, Seas Prestige 27TDFC) Tweeters Crossed @ 2500Hz with 12db slope Set @ -7db (Gains set based on voltage) Pioneer HUH701 Processor I'm having a tweeter problem. I blew my tweeter and thought it was just faulty (the right tweeter is still going strong). Madisound fixed it for free but said it was trashed (voice coil) and nicely said it wouldn't be free again. Put in the new one and played fine for a week. One day this weird sound started coming from the right speakers (sounded like a bad ground, popping and such) and then all of a sudden, left tweeter gone again. i had heard that sound before but thought it really was from a bad ground, but since this tweeter has popped I haven't heard it again. So now I'm at a loss. the right speakers make noises and the left tweeter blows. I have the tweets turned down -7db (not to mention the amp gains are set less than half) they are 6 ohm drivers. Could something be wrong with the amp? or maybe in my wiring from amp to speaker? My speaker wire is underground cable with and extra jacket around the wire (still 1/4 price of any fancy speaker wire), and I really don't see it getting screwed up...
