Truth. Honestly, I think that an islamic TA in our class singled out a girl because he felt he could talk down to her. The teacher wanted us to sit one per table and he walked by atleast 5 tables of 2 guys sitting next to each other and stopped at the table that was the girl and myself and spoke to her directly. I laughed about it initially but we were talking about it today and I really think that is why he did it.

Steel, or carbon fiber wrapped steel. One of the problems with drive shafts is not getting them to stand up to the torque, but making sure that they can stand up to use and side impacts and getting beat around. One could make a driveshaft with a paper thin wall and it would hold up to engine torque just fine, but if you hit it with a rock you would be screwed. You are not trying to use a solid shaft are you? Just trying to get some general dimensions with one. I'm not sure what we are trying to go with. I do know that hollow tubes can be lighter and just as strong

'm trying to design a drive shaft and was curious if you guys had any idea what a typical driveshaft is made of, what are some typical lightweight alternatives and what are their yield strengths. I am doing some calculations and for an engine producing 13.75 ft*lbs of torque (at the crank then goes through a 3.83:1 and a 9:1 Reduction [34.47:1 total]) I'm getting a 1.15" shaft when using a safety factor of 2. I'm using the Tau=T*r/J equation and a yield strength of 40ksi (20ksi with a safety factor of 2) [6061-T6 Aluminum] Seems like a little big for such a low power engine. In comparison if I use something like a 500 ft*lb torque engine I'm getting a 3+" shaft which is obviously not right

For one he has been disrepectful to another classmate/ friend of mine by giving criticism to his presentation during a question answer time, and did it in a stern way as if it was his place to do it. He acts like he knows everything, and today was the last strike. I made a joke with our ASME president about writing " punkin' chunkin' " in an email as opposed to " pumpkin chunkin' ", but long haired douche in his infinite wisdom while trying to make me look bad says, Oh its always been punkin chunkin' its a tradition. [/story] [vent] Oh really fucker?!?!?! Have you BEEN to the Pumpkin Chunkin the last two years???? Did you WIN it one of those years??!?!!? Well guess fucking what?!?!
