  1. It really doesn't even do that... the real responses aren't like the graphs at all when we measured them. These days I don't use a box program for anything more than calculating port tuning as they are so often separated by a big margin from what really happens. not bashing or anything, but if you dont see the graph, how do you figure what tune you want? do you base it on the music you listen to, how low you wanna get, or spl? There's a pretty good port size calculator in WinISD. You put the frequency and box size, along with what port shape you want and it will tell you the dimensions of the port.
  2. If that would of shown up before I built my current box, I would of been running those! Some 18s I can run without needing a new amp! new box ? When I bought my truck I said I wouldn't fill the back with a sub woofer box, I guess I'll have to start taking measurements...

  4. Hmm, well my box has separate chambers, so I might try and throw one obsidian in and compare it to one sa. Would be a great way to spend my tax return!
  5. Now that's the Gain graph. Obsidian- Blue Sundown SA12- Green Skar VVX- Yellow 2 12s in 3.9 cubes at 38Hz
  6. Should I be looking at the gain or spl tabs? This is the spl tab. Ill put the skar in too and post the gain tab when I get home. I have an analog DB meter that goes up to 125 I could use. Would that one work? And if so what do you want me to do with it?
  7. Sounds like a good idea, but what would the prices be like?
  8. Sundowns specs in the technical area and the specs off obsidian's website.
  9. The lovely curves: Blue is Two SA12s Green is two Obsidian 12s. Found out my box's specs to be 38Hz and 3.9 cubes.
  10. Was going to post a picture but photobucket didn't send my new password right away, when I get home I'll post a picture of the slopes.
  11. Put them both into WinISD, Sa12s peak at 39Hz where the Obsidians continue on until 45Hz Obsidians also extend an extra 4Hz on the low end compared the the Sundowns. Looks like I'll be spending some more money...
  12. Magnet sizes are pretty close, I don't remember the excursion on the sa12 but the obsidians are 62mm peak to peak!
  13. That's what I figured. They're pretty cheap so I was thinking about just dropping a pair in an trying them out.
  14. Found them and they look pretty good compared to my sa12s. Reading up on them they seem to hit the low lows very well. How would they compare to my sa12s? 35hz 1.75 cubes and 750rms each. And are they made in USA?
  15. Found some Infinity Reference series for cheap locally, so I'll put those in I guess. They will be running off head unit power until I get time to put my trusty old Profile 4channel in. Should sound pretty good! Especially when I get my SA12s put in
  16. http://www.rockfordcorp.com/ Never heard of lightning audio, why wouldn't Rockford just put their name on it? Thanks for that though^ will definitely work!
  17. KnuKonceptz has a 1/0 CCA amp kit for 60$. Their 4 gauge OFC kit is 52$. I know pure copper is better than clad, but is 1/0 clad better than 4 gauge pure copper?
  18. Yeah but the idea is to run off of the HU. I'm sure there are better speakers than the stock ones that can run on low wattage!
  19. I'm looking for 6x8s to run off the factory head unit in my 2012 Escape XLT. Factory stereo, no nav, no sync. I read on another site that the Infinity Kappa speakers sound better than stock ones off of head unit power. To me the stock speakers sound good, but I'd like it louder and to have better bass response. I found the Kappas for 75$ a pair shipped, so 150$ for all four. So I'm looking for anything better than those within the same price range, or a confirmation of those being good. Could also run comps, if they could sound good of the hu. And on a side note, anyone know the output power of that hu? I'm guessing under 20 watts.
  20. Hits at about 15 seconds, I think there's like two layers of bass or something. It sounds good on bad computer speakers, and hits really low in my car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MT8C4uWCKI
  21. Once you take your Viagra? So you don't care about gaining any cargo space? The new enclosure can take up the same space if not more (likely larger if your looking for more output and using a larger driver) then your current enclosure? At this point people are going to need to know your max dimensions before they can really offer advice. I'm still baffled by your completely contradictory statements. Perhaps it's something you should sleep on? So going with a larger driver would definitely take up more the the SA12s? The SA12 box took up basically all the space in the back, meaning a larger driver wouldnt fit. How about one Z12?
  22. I always start out small and end up big... Basically just one sub woofer to replace those two
  23. What do you mean by that?
  24. SA12s were ported, and Ill use all the space in the back, not too sure of the dimensions back there though... And I would like to gain output:D
  25. Well I've decided two woofers take up too much room in the back of my escape. So I'm going for a single woofer set up. At first I was thinking one Sundown Z 12, but then I saw 18s... So now I need recommendations, One woofer to replace two SA12s. My amp is a Memphis PR1.5KD. 1500w at 2 ohms, I'm unsure of any lower than 2 ohm stability. I'd like it to be under 500.
