  1. thank you for the advice! the only problem is that there isnt anyone around here, besides shops, that have term labs. so what i might do is slip a shop some money to practice on it once in a while. its very addicting to say the least. im already hooked.
  2. thanks scott. well, im going to call some local places that have term labs to see if theyll let me have some time on theirs. i know that i can easily hang in the 130-139.9 class, its just i need more experience. i might hit shawn up to get some tips from him. thanks again scott. -carmen
  3. yep, i live in hudson, youre prob close. there are some comps coming up in brook park that ill be going to in june, july, and august depending on my work schedule.
  4. thank you, too bad i didnt bring home the win. being that it was my first time ever doing bass race i think i did well. it was the splmax show at advance mobile toys in cuyahoga falls, ohio.
  5. i entered my first ever bass race comp with my new system. loaded 15" BTL on an MA Audio hk4000d in a 4 cubes box tuned to 34hz playing "air forces". i qualified with a 139.8 in the 130-139.9 class. i went over the 140 mark and hit 141 for a bit, but had to drop it down to avoid getting put in the 140 class. however, i got eliminated in the first round by someone with a lot more experience, i only lost by .2 db's because i was at 139.9 with a few seconds left and had to drop it down fast so not to break over the 140 mark and risk getting DQ'd. i ended with a 139.6. sad thing is that i had the guy beat the entire time until the last few seconds. there is another comp coming up in june, another in july, and a last in august that im going to enter.

my 15" BTL sounds amazing, great SQ
  7. freaking insane vid steve. keep it up man, youre my inspiration.
  8. i was thinking of picking up two of those. here are two vids that i took the other day, they didnt come out that great, but whatever:
  9. right now i have a loaded 15" BTL (dual 2) and am going to be getting a second one soon. as of now i have a ma audio hk4000d on the BTL. im looking to get either one or two amps to use for the BTLs. im looking for something that will give me around 3500-4000 watts per sub, but not cost an arm and a leg. what do you guys suggest?

nice choice, thanks for the reply. i was considering upgrading to those, just not sure i have the room.

offtopic: chad, what do you have running those 2 BTLs? im planning on getting a second and either adding another amp or upgrading to 2 new ones.

i found the same to be true with my loaded 15 BTL. i have it in a 4 cube box after displacement tuned to ~34hz and it sounds great with some john mayer, robin thicke, al greene, kenny g, etc. i expected it to just get loud, but i was pleasantly surprised.
  13. id hope, especially for all the electrical upgrades required on top of what i already did lol. for now i might just add a second BTL then go from there, that way i wont have to do any immediate electrical upgrades.
  14. hmm, not a bad increase. thanks for the response too.
  15. right now i have a single 15 BTL, loaded, running off of a ma audio hk4000d. im thinking of getting a second sub and amp. i recall reading on here some kind of "formula" for the dB gain by doubling the woofer area and doubling the power, but i cant recall what the numbers were. theoretically, how many dB's can i gain by adding a second 15 and second hk4000d?
  16. ive got a ma audio hk4000d on my loaded 15" BTL, and i have it where its putting out 3600-3700 watts daily. granted i dont have it cranking for that long, i can still release the power.
  17. damn, thats insane. i cant wait to see it with those 2 4001's on it.
  18. what mike said. im going to try another set of RCAs to see if i have a cut in them somewhere. the ones im using now are knuconceptz, so theyre not crap. who knows, might have just had a bad connection at the RCAs cuz theyre working fine now.
  19. both are regarding my amp(s) and/or system. 1) whenever i have my car running, the voltage on my sub amp used to read around 14.2-14.4v, at idle. now its only reading around 12v, at idle, which is what it used to read with the truck off. which brings be to the second problem regarding this. now instead of my amp going into protect mode at 10.5v like before, its dropping down to 9v on the display. i highly doubt that its going that low. i havent touched any of the settings since i tuned it with the DMM. im not sure if its the display thats messed up, the amps reading thats wrong, or if im actually dropping that low. btw, the amp is a ma audio hk4000d that i bought off of scottie. and 2) just today when i turned up my bass knob about 1/3 from full, which isnt much if you consider where i tuned it, my speaker amp drops out and i lose sound from my componants. i have been having trouble with the RCA input on my speaker amp because occasionally i would lose sound out of my left front componant, but then with a simple 'wiggle' of the left channel RCA it would come back on. idk if its the vibration causing it to drop out, bad RCA input, or if i have an electrical problem that could relate to #1 above. thanks in advance for all help and suggestions.
  20. i will let you guys know for sure. its may 20th, which seems like an eternity away lol. my last set up consisted of the same subs he had, except on a JL 1000/1. my current set up compared to my old one is like night and day. this one would tear my other one up. which im hoping is the case at the comp.
  21. thank you for the suggestions. i will give "im throwed" a try. is that on his new CD? if so that would work out well because im going to buy it tonight.

"da blow" - lil jon "gimme that" - paul wall "oxycotten" - lil wyte
  23. oh yes, i definitely tried that one. its one of my favorite bass songs. ill have to give it a second try tonight. thanks for the link, ill check it out now.
  24. thats the only thing that would keep me from using it in the comp. it hits hard, but its not long enough. yep, as i said its on his new CD. that songs supposed to hit too.
  25. haha, thank you yep, its off his new CD. im going to get the actual CD tonight. it hits very, very solid. out of all of the "bass songs" ive tested on my system, this one by far hits the hardest.
