		amp rack

howdy. im desinging an amp rack, and the dea behind it is theres going to be a peice of plexiglass covering the amp. the plexi glass will be flush with the carpet of the rack and the amp will be about 2-3 inches below the plexi. its hard te explain how im making the whole structure in words, but basically i have about 1 foot of room for how far back the amp will be from the plexi, so you can make suggestions about that. but the amp will still be encased in a box so all airflow from the fans will be hitting the amp still. the amp will be sitting on a peice of MDF. and the walls will be made of 2x4 wood. heres a picture of the plans. this is a top view picture. the striped out yellow area is the 2x4 that wil sourond the amp. the big red box in there with + represents the area the amp will take up. and the 2 blue boxes are the 4.65 inch fans capable of 106CF air movement per miute each. the light blue lines fom red box to 2x4 represent how much space is between amp and wood. longways there is 2.5 inches per side and up and down there is 2 inch per side. heres my question. 1. how far away should i keep the fans from the amp? 2. the air pushed in by the fans needs to escape. my idea was to drill holes or cut out some sqaures in the top plexi sheet so the air can get out though there.(heat rises) so where should i put these holes if you think they will work properly? i dont wanna make holes too big becuase the point of the plexi sheet is to protect the amp from "foriegn objects". 1 or 2 inch diameter circles is about as big as i want to make them. P.S. there is much more to the amp rack than this, this is just a small segment where the amp will be.

		Interest in pre-ordering 8's?

hey me and my friend went to one of those places that read the future and stuff with crystalballs and cards. went for the heck of it to see when he would get his next girlfriend lol. well i decided what the heck and asked how much a 8 inch magnum D2 is gunna cost. she said exactly "145.95" per Midbass. and get this she said midbass not speaker or sub lol, when she has no clue what it is. was she anywhere near the right ballpark nick or did i waste 10 bucks? :ugh:

		Interest in pre-ordering 8's?

i could be wrong but i think low male vocals will go into the 100-200 herts range. i played a song once in my bros car and he had his sub crossed at 160 for some test and we heard some hums from male vocals through it.

		mag 12 box

i read an intence review onpoly fil ad this kind of things. the person who did it had all this fancy equip to measure the diferences with amounts of polyfil. his end result was at maximum you can get about a 30-40% increase in box size volume with a perfect polyfill job. so i estimate if you stick to about 1 pound per CF you should get around a 20-30% increase. youll be fine.

		linear power TO3 +magnum

ok well i did a tad more research and got some more answers in amplifier forums. very soon ill have me a Linear Power 2.2HV amplifier. Powering a 15 inch magnum D2 ( ill have that pre-order money sent out any time here nick ) i cant wait to post pics! thanks guys

		linear power TO3 +magnum

i gotta check My HU and make sure it has a sub lowpass filter on it. the 2.2HV doesn have any crossovers whitch is the only thing i dont like. but later on when i get more money im gunna buy the crossover they got so i can bandpass the SI 8 inch midbass ( yes im making you develope them) and then ill set it to lowpass the sub. but o course that means another LP amp, i esimate a good 300-400 for those 8 inchers and then 150 for the crossover. so at darn near 1000 bucks that aint happening for a while.

		linear power TO3 +magnum

anyone have experience running these on magnums? i was thinking about getting the T03 2.2HV. it says in the manuel 750x1 at 4 ohm and they can go down to 1 ohm so im trying to figure out what they put out at 1 ohm.

		Interest in pre-ordering 8's?

i dunno how well this holds true but from my perspective thes are my sugjestions. since it will have good midbass abilities i would try to keep it efficeint and low power. i wouldnt go over 300 watts rms( just my thinking) and since most people who get 8 inch subs get them for space/power issues keep it efficient and low power. so basically if you make it really efficent and have a low power rating it should work well for both cases. but dont drop that 11mm 1 way excursion!

		Question for Nick

well thats nice to know hehe. ill tell ya how they sound when they get here but i cant really do them justice untel i get my good amp. to test them im gunna have to run them off my brother Legacy amp lol. highpass only goes till like 200, or it might have been 400. and no low pass so on test they will basically play full range. i lost my amps. i loaned them to my friend since im rebuilding my system and he got rear-ended. all the amps were in the back. luckily he wasnt screwed up to bad though. im hoping i can find a good deal on somehting over at SD or ECA in the for sale forums.

		Interest in pre-ordering 8's?

how much would they cost? and how much power? sounds like a good idea though. if i could afford it i would jump on them to keep my system SI style. since you said theyd play 300herts and higher i assume they are primarily midbass drivers correct?
 -

		Question for Nick

no its not the components, its the the midrange used in there top of the line compnents though. its called the WR-4 they cost 320 bucks if you purchase them seperatly. i got them for 97 bucks shipped.

		New eD A's!!!

well when youy got companies that sell subs in waves and 90 percent of them sell out on pre-order befor they even make to the company, pre-order is a good thing lol by the way i got a mini review from someone who got there hands on a new e12av2 prototype. they said it was phenominal. they didnt do a SQ test but they said this thing was just mean. louder, deeper, more linear, and takes gobs and gobs of power. blowing this thing with 1000-1500 watts would be impossible. its susposed to be a e12a but improved in almost every aspect. they tried to keep the sound as close to the old one as possible.

		Question for Nick

yeah im talking about the car audio stuff now. i would assum they would sound better since they are quite a bit more expensive than the ones i listed above. i found a few people in forums and luckily they replied to PM's fast. everyone who had them had nothing but grreat things to say. not one complaint. not even one mediocre statement. so hopefully i made the right move by getting them about 5 minutes ago. if not o well, i couldnt see a possible way for them to be much worse than that 70 buck speakers. espeically since im getting 2 for 20 bucks more than 1 of the MW144( 70 buck speaker)
