  1. This is the nearly finished result. All I've got to do now is cut off the part that's not covered in fleece, resin up the fleece, wait for it to dry, cut the holes for the distribution block mounts, figure out a way to mount the plexi covers then cover it in foam rubber and black vinyl.....oh chit....this might take a while
  2. This is me sanding the large bumps out of the drivers side mold.
  3. Here's the other side. It's been 'glassed too, but i'm not sure exactly how to finish it yet. I'm sure it will come to me
  4. This one shows the new molding where the distrobution blocks will be displayed. I'm not sure exactly how i'm going to finish it, but this looks like a good start.
  5. I started the process yesterday of fiberglassing new trunk panels that will tidy up my new install and help hide wires and organize distro blocks, crossovers, etc.
  6. wow....making me pull out the big guns on this one Porting a wedge shaped box can be a pain in the ass, but i think you pretty much hit the nail on the head when i did the math, i came up with 10.5" port but since the port is slanted it won't be exactly 11" long anyway. PS: very nice drawing. i might commission you to draw me some templates some time
  7. and the winner is....
  8. steve: i know ya have and that's why i got mad love for ya capone: right now if you know somebody who will give me $30K
  9. OH! I got this yesterday at the chinese resteraunt I frequent. The saying might as well be my slogan and my girlfriend's measurements are in the lucky numbers....I'll leave which ones to your imagination
  10. Gnome Audio was officially founded earlier this year (04) as an official supplier of custom subwoofer enclosures. Since inception, we have sold more than 100 custom units to individuals across the united states. Thats a lot more than we ever dreamed was possible. This business was first conceived on the principal that nobody should get mistreated or overlooked because they don't have much to spend. We try to provide a high-quality product at the lowest possible price. Although it would be a lot cheaper to just build the box yourself, it's a lot easier to contract us to build it for you and it insures a quality end result. If you're unsure about your building skills or simply dont have the time or equipment to do it yourself, Gnome Audio is for you. The fact that I personally get to talk to the customers via AIM or email correspondance makes it that much better. I know I feel safer talking to a real person about a product I'm recieving rather than an automated response. I personally respond to every quote request or email question I'm sent. A lot of people who have purchased boxes or AIM'ed me with questions about how to build their own are still on my buddy list. The future of Gnome Audio looks bright right now. We're currently saving up for a routering machine to cut the wood automatically and precisely. This will allow us to build boxes that snap together like puzzle pieces and can be sold as "kits", where the recipient will simply "Glue-N-Screw" their box together. This will keep shipping and packaging prices at about half their current rate and reduce labor costs by 1/3rd. It will also allow for higher production. Don't worry: we're not going prefab. The boxes will still be made to your specs, specifically for your woofers....just a lot quicker and a lot cheaper. However, this machine is quite expensive so we're going to have to sell a lot of boxes between now and then. I'd like to find a network of people that would be willing to help me get some exposure for Gnome Audio, either by sponsorship or by word of mouth referals. If you plan to compete in any major competition circut and would like to be sponsored by Gnome Audio, or if you just have a lot of friends that need subwoofer boxes, shoot me an email. I'm also looking for a cool logo to make into decals and possibly use on my website. If you can come up with a bad-ass gnome audio logo, post it on here or email it to me [email protected] . I'll select a winner after i get enough entries and the winner will recieve $25, and some free box plans or a 1.5 sealed box for a 12" sub (i'll pay shipping). I've seen your signatures so I know most of you guys from SSAudio are good with paintshop
  11. 6 RE 8's and a Memphis PR-1.5KD The box would need to be smaller for 4 8's (around 2-2.3 cubic feet)
  12. ED KX or K 12" or 10"
  13. This one is going in my ride
  14. sounds like the woofer is presenting a low ohm load and the amp is getting hot, going into protection long enough to cool off, cutting back in, getting hot....lather rinse repete. then again, it could be broken....
  15. back in my day we had to walk three miles barefoot in the snow with our little brother clinging to our back as our only means of staying warm...... i have no idea what that has to do with box plans, but i really needed to get it out. that looks complicated as hell man, but you have most of it done already. just figure up the volume and plug the numbers into the calculator at BCAE1.com otherwise paypal me $15 to [email protected] and i'll have em for ya by tommorrow morning.
  16. let's assume your width is 36". If the wood is .75" thick, the inner width would be 34.5 (36-1.5) because the sides of the box would each subtract .75". If the height is 16 for example, you'd again subtract 1.5 for the top and bottom baffles, and get 14.5. Lets also assume the depth is 12" which would yeild 10.5" of inner depth. Now we multiply these numbers (34.5*14.5*10.5=5252) then divide by 1728 (the number of cubic inches in a cubic foot) to yeild 3.04 cubic feet..... but if you don't like math, you can always use the calculator dave suggested
  17. i'd recommend 2 4" ports about 15.6" long each
  18. about 58lbs. the originating zipcode will be 45692 and it's about 30" x 18" x 16" when packaged. it will be insured for the purchase price at my expense.
  19. why yes, i would $10
  20. Do you think that this 1.5 sealed can hold a Magnum well powered at 1100w ? Max yeah, it would work great with a magnum 12". If you're interested in buying, shoot me an email at [email protected]
  21. A cabinet-grade table saw is your best bet, however most people don't have access to one. If nothing else, use a circular saw and a straight edge. They make a blade specifically for MDF that has a bunch of tiny teeth. As far as cutting the sheet in half, you gotta do what you gotta do
  22. 1. calculate cone area rather than number of subs (it takes 3 8's to make a 15!) or have some sort of trade off chart. 2. specify whether number of amplifiers counts non-subwoofer amps, etc. 3. specify that boxes have to be in a certain position (ie, behind the back seats for cars, behind the door jamb for trucks) 4. will you offer clinics? 5. how will disputed scores and such be handled?
  23. That box is specifically designed to have a flat response curve. If you'd like to modify the plans for an SPL application, be my guest
  24. about 3 cubes after all displacement (slightly less) and 34hz tuning.
  25. The outer diminsions of the box work out to 3.234 The port displaces 0.792 The wood that creates the port displaces 0.194 The sub itself displaces .2 The total internal volume after all displacement is 2.148, which is right on the money (nick recommends 2.0 @ 29hz). Good job....but next time I'm not gonna do your math for you
