  1. Fs, Xmax? Come on, throw us a bone!
  2. Is there a code to translate this into english?
  3. The wife has a pair of Braxton Audio tower speakers in her work out room. These speakers are lacking in low end output and the wife asked if I could add a sub woofer to her system. She uses her system for watching movies, TV, and listening to music. I have a retired pair of 12" Shiva sonotubes that haven't been used since I built my pair of IXL-18's. Long story short, both Shiva tubes have a "clicking" sound when demands are put on them. I modeled the IXL-12 in 3.5 cu.ft., the net volume of the Shiva tube, and it looks good. IXL-12 arrives. Original Shiva sonotubes. IXL-12 and 3.5 cu. ft. tube. Removal of 12" Shiva. Comparison of Shiva and IXL-12. I remember paying $180 a piece for the Shiva's years ago, which is the same price as the IXL-12 today. It just goes to show how far subs have come in the last few years! Inside the sono tube. Got lucky! The sub cut out and bolt holes lined up perfectly! I had to add 10 inches on to the port length to lower the tuning to 18hz. The Shiva was tuned to 22hz. I moved an Atlas 15" aside and hooked up the IXL-12 to do some testing. I powered the IXL-12 with a 360 watt plate amp and turned off all other subs. No break in period, put in a test tone CD and cranked it up. I'm amazed with what this sub can do. I was not expecting this kind of output from a 12 inch sub. The sound was excellent, no mudiness or boominess, just loud clean bass. Test tones in the 16hz to 20hz region made the walls vibrate and shake, the same as my larger subs do. With 360 watts input, this sub is no where near it's maximum excursion and port noise was a non issue. To get the most from this sub, 800 watts input would be about right in this net volume and a 18 hz subsonic filter should be applied. Port diameter would have to be increased to avoid port chuffing. Now I have to install this sub in a 12' x 8' work out room. I can't wait to see the expression on my wife's face when she hears it for the first time!
  4. How big is the box now?
  5. I hope you do. I'd love to see the pics!
  6. I notice the pics in the last 6 threads in this forum aren't showing up for me. Anyone else having the same problem?
  7. depends on the size.. check out the site the specs are listed man www.mach5audio.com enjoy! Recommended sizes for the 10 and 12 have not been listed yet.
  8. There are free programs to help with the math for sonotube enclosures. http://www.subwoofer-builder.com/sonosub.htm
  9. Did you "break in" the MJM before you compared it to the RE?
  10. I would call no warranty on a new unit a big deal. Make no mistake, if they can tell you made any changes, your warranty is void, no matter what the reason you send it in for warranty.
  11. That would be member "mfishmike". He has the only system I've ever seen with 24 passive radiators !!!!!!!!!!
  12. Enjoyed a few Light Wheat beers from there last night. Only place I buy from now. Wasted, where are you from? I'm in Saskatoon here.. College park I think. yourself? Also, I just put the order in for the woofskies. I BE BALL SLAPPIN IN NO TIME Was in College Park, now in Nutana Well, you both can be happy you're not in Riversdale!

  15. Can't wait to see what the specs are and do some modeling!
  16. Another car horn is the AutoTuba http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/autotuba.html
  17. Sounds like a great idea. It might help if the T/S parameters were posted so people would have an idea what the sub is about, or the T/S Parameters for any other DP for that matter. Just my opinion.
  18. In theory yes, but does it matter in the real world? Model the same size sub and port in WinISD and the one at reaudio.com. The difference in port length for the same tuning frequency with the same port area is less then half an inch. Build 2 subs with one having a port length of half an inch longer. Can you tell the difference?
  19. A slot port is a rectangular port and WinISD will model it. All you so is subtract the volume of the port from the volume of the cabinet to get the net volume. It works fine for me.
  20. It appears that program is only for round ports. Since your slot port is 15" tall, and 5.5" wide, it has a surface area of 82.5 square inches. A round port would need to be 10.25 inches diameter to have the same surface area as your slot port. Enter 10.25 port diameter into the program and see what length you get. I agree with the above poster. It looks like a much better program. http://reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html
  21. Your pic isn't showing up for me. Anyways, a slot port that is 15" tall, and 5.5" wide that is 13.25" in length will tune your box to 38hz. It's all good!
  22. What size port do you want to use?
  23. You have net volume of 7.2 cubic feet. To tune it to 38hz with a 5 inch round port, the port length needs to be 1.4 inches. Port area is 19.63 square inches.
  24. Any chance of a Canadian dealer?
  25. dude, she wants my nuts, bro Do a search. "She's" a 32 year old male from Nigeria.
