Ehh 80 isn't bad but I would definitely go with more. I have 68in2 for my single 12 Zcon. I did have 40 for my first box and it did work good. Try it out and see how it is, you should be fine. I thought you didn't have a box built already.

Active means usually means using a 4 channel and having the each separate speaker on its own channel. You set your own crossover points. With the passive your using a pre done crossover that comes with the comps.

Try to get at least 5 cubes net for the pair. Also try and get at least 100in2 of port area too.

The port area per square foot rule can go fuck itself. Port area is determine by the parameters of the sub, tuning and amount of power. Has nothing to do with the size of the box.

What size are they? Ported or sealed?

In the Torres program click on the top bar where it says help. There's a new window that comes up and says all the way at the bottom what the common port walls means and what the different numbers represent. I would do around 85in2 of port area then.

Type it torres box calc in google and then it should be the first link on the s m d forum

Also how do you plan to have the port? If it's just a single sub then you should have the # of common port walls as 3 then.

Port area is on the low side. What amp are you using and why are you tuning that low? My box for my zcon 12 was tuned to 32hz but still slammed the decaf lows! And I love the lows. Something to think about since you would lose a lot of upper bass around 40+ tuning to 28.

How about the ap3000? It's 2 ap1500s strapped in one case so it's rated for 3k rms at 2ohms. I think it's only ~300. Obviously not the best amp but will get the job done and others have used it and loved it.
