You must of had the settings wrong on the amp and/or box was shitty. I guess ssa underrated their subs if you want to say since they are proven to take a shit ton more power than their rated but in reality it's not needed AT ALL. When I said just because it's rated for 1000rms at 1 ohms doesn't mean it has to or will always put out that much at 1 ohm. Honestly who gives a fuck if its underrated by 30% lol for a daily setup you wouldn't hear 1000rms from 1300rms. Why can you only go with one? What's the reason for that? Any failure of the sub is always user error either by setting things up wrong or not knowing the signs of the subs stressing like mentioned above. It you can manage both of those you will never have a sub fail on you.

It doesn't matter if you have a 10k rms amp on them. Just set the gain to right before you hear the sub stress. You will be fine with that amp. Just because its rated for what it is doesn't mean it will put out that much power. Like I said make sure you use your senses to know when the subs are being pushed to hard (listen for distortion, smell coil). I would suggest a new box though. That way it's made exclusively for you dcons. If you need a box design I can definitely help you with that. Then if you or someone you know can build it.

I would do ported then. You will for sure get louder but it's up to you so if you want to do sealed we can do that.

Haha no problem man. That's always the first thing to check is the wiring like that and also the ground as well when things Aren't working. Its easy to make mistakes like that. everyones done it lol Glad they're working now.

I think they should still play but could be out of phase. That's what I would check first.

Sounds like the wiring of the subs is messed up somewhere. Check again to make sure. I know you probably think they are wired right, but sometimes you skip over it. Happens all the time. The wiring inside of the box I mean.

Build a good box with your equipment and you might be able to be louder. 2 totally different systems with you and your friend.

Then with those amps and the subs in the right box should be easy to get pretty loud. Getting louder than anyone you know depends on who you know? Who's system do you want to be louder than? At this moment it's all in the install/box.
