Sundown or zcon's.
And I think ima go with the z's. I wanna be able to pound the crap outta them and not worry about being close to the tippy tip top. Lol. I can change port if needed. Need to redo front of box anyway, starting to come apart.

Sundown or zcon's.
Ok, so I come up with 79, which whe multiplied by 21(length of port) I assume, I come up with 1659. Sound rite?

Sundown or zcon's.
So back to my original post! Lol. How do I measure port area on a trapezoid port?

Rockford t15k
I don't buy the 100% either. Power in = power out. You have to charge the cap, then it discharges. But along the way ther has to be some power loss and distortion somewhere due to heat, thermal dynamics, wire resistance, circuit board resistance? How can it be over 100% efficient?

Rockford t15k
$25k to be exact. And only 18 ever made. Steve Meade has 4 so that leaves 12 left in the world!

Battery I don't know, I know Meade916, Steve Meade on you tube has 8 d3100's powering 2(two) t15k's and that is ferocious. 4 alts from mechman, the 370 amp versions, 8 50 foot rolls of 0 gauge just for the alts and amp. Wtf. A warhorse from kicker would seem more logical

So how would I figure out the port are on a trapezoid style port?

Look what I found on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rockford-Fosgate-T15KW-Power-Cube-15-000-RMS-30-000-Watts-/120897338180?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item1c260afb44

Sundown or zcon's.
Not going with 15". Don't know where that came from. Lol. Goin with 2 12's. Port is 21" long and 18.5 wide at top. 20" wide at bottom. Basically same size as bottom 4" of box and 21" long. Budget is not really an issue as I do a lot of ebayin and keep money in my PayPal account for my stereo needs! thanks for all the help

Sundown or zcon's.
Box was actually designed for 2 cvx122 kickers, which really do hit hard. But I want more and have the amp and electrical to do it so why not? Specs seem to be ok for the z's but wanted to double check before dropping $900 on a set of subs that will need a new box

Sundown or zcon's.
Sorry bout the lack of info. The box is 44" wide x 18" tall with the 14" top and 21" bottom. Both subs (12's) on top near left side. Port is on rt lower. 4" tall from bottom and I think it 21" long. Have to double check if needed. Had Ryan @ ramdesigns design it for me. I'm looking to break things not necessarily hear them real good if y'all know what I mean. Lol.

Sundown or zcon's.
So since I am going to be finally putting in the saz2500d, I figured it was time to put new subs in! But the question is which ones. I like the zcon's and they can handle 2500 each. But the sundowns can handle 1500. My box is 4.75^3 tuned to 36hz. Finally got money to get the d3100 and. Already have the 0gauge to wire it. Any suggestions?

T3 hybrid
Anybody know anything about a sundown/T3 hybrid 12", dual 1 ohm? I'm lookin into them but haven't heard anything about them. Supposedly 2500 rms? Would they go good with a saz2500d and a 4.75 cube box tuned to 36hz?

mounting options?
I will take some pics tonite. As far as the floor, that's out. Box sits on floor. Built to go from back of seat to back of cab. My seat literally rests against box. Trapezoid style. There is 6" of room from end of box to side of cab. There is no room in front. The 45 I kind of like and that was recommended by someone else also. What should the rack be made out of? Can i use some of the extra mdf i have, then wrap it? Under the seats is not an option also. I have cut and rewelded the frames to get the seats lower. 2" of room max and floor is not straight. It has ridges built in for structural support.

mounting options?
i wasnt goin to direct mount, rather a "bridge" welded between both b&c posts that spans across roof. then build rack for amp that has enough room to put 2 small fans for air movement. that way i can run wires inside the posts and they will be hidden. but question was can it be mounted upside down? i would think so being as its a solid state device, but just not sure

mounting options?
ok, my s10 3 door has the ram designed box now only problem is the box comes to 3" below the back window. and takes up the whole extra cab. 4.75 cubes. my idea for mounting the 2500d are now limited. can it be mounted upside down? i was thinking of building/welding brackets across roof and mounting upside down. any ideas are helpful

'98 s10 extended cab
Ok, so I went to ram designs and had Ryan lay out me a box. Built it this weekend and installed it. Still have not been able to run the 0 gauge for the sundown so I am still using the zx500.1. WOW. What a huge difference. Even as far as the distorting sounding. The amp is o-scoped so I know it's not clipping, but rather "distorting" if that's the correct term. Now it really really hits hard. Lots of kudos to Ryan for the design and also a big thanks to ricksi30 and stefanhinote for sendin me to ram-designs. I can't be more pleased except when I get to install the sundown

Powermax altenators?
True. I thought I was gonna have a problem out of him, but after I told him what I did and what I found, he had no problem takin it back

Powermax altenators?
Funny I run across this thread. I purchased a power max from eBay also. Supposedly 220 amp at 1700rpm. HA. At idle stock alt. would do lvl 28 on Pink Floyd and when I installed the powermax I could only go to 25. What a joke. Cheap made! Took it to work and clamped an amp clamp on it and put a 450 amp load on batt. Max output was 130 amps. I have big 3 done in all 1/0 wire so resistance was not a problem. No where near stated amperage. Voltage fluctuated so badly I emailed him. His response was funny. I sent it back and now have a beastly mechman 270 amp with no problem at all!!!! Don't waste your time or money with powermax, get a mechman. Someone stated in a post earlier I saw that was so true. "you get what you pay for".

alternator
yea, after debating it for all of 2 minutes, i'm going to send it back and get a mechman. they have a 270 amp for my truck. cant wait for it to come.....

alternator
Thanks. Didn't realize the section I was in till it was too late and sorry for the double post.

I haven't run the cables yet, just saw from previous posts in here that 2 runs we're needed, or I misread. Lol. Alternator is installed and subs are in a jl audio 12w7 ported box. Current amp is a kicker 500.1 and stock alternator I could pump at lvl 28 without any problems at idle. I put alternator in and can't get past lvl 25 on same song without voltage fluctuation big time. I emailed power max and this is what guy says. "How you calculate and bought 220A alternator ?if you have 5000watt sound system 5000= 416A that is mean you need minimum 500A alternator to take care your sound system you need to install second alternator to get that much power ,This alternator will not work for you and you can send it back, you can install two 250A alternator the alternator you can install two 8292 x 250A each and total you can get 500A but not in idle normaly all altenator will give you maximum power when you are driving and in idle you can get 45% power that is why you need second battery and high capacitor ,If you have more question you can call me" I was planning on bridging 2 saz2500's but decided not too. So I will only be runnin at 2 ohms for now till I get the money to get some fi's. Then run them at 1 ohm. I was mainly concerned about th voltage fluctuation, is this normal with high output alts? I'm going to put an amp clamp on the output wire tomm and load the system down and see what it actually puts out. - alternator
