  1. I'm convinced it's the amp. I've retuned everything, it sounded perfect when i had my brutus amp and then i switched to the hifi it's not crisp at all. the bass kind of lags. From personal reviews i've heard nothing good about hifi amps. If i have good subs why not have a good amp? If it's not the amp what's the first thing I should look at?
  2. alright well off the muddyness topics name just a few amps you deam worthwhile. I've been browsing just want to see if our ideas match up at all
  3. You keep saying buy something better but give no examples? and what exactly would cause the muddyness then?
  4. used a ddm for the gains and then listened when I did lpf and ssf. Just tweaked until i could get the muddyness down to where I could at least stand it.
  5. i've readjusted everything. They way i have it said now it's not terribly noticeable but still wish I had a more crisp sound
  6. I understand what you guys are saying but the only difference in my system is the amp. So I would think it would be the amp. I didn't switch boxes, wires, head unit, subs nothing just the amp.
  7. This muddy sound started as soon as i switched amps
  8. Than what is it? It's the only thing that's changed in my system. This is the only amp i've used that sounds muddy. I also have 2 people i know that have similar issues with the same line of amp. just saying
  9. I meant what amp is he thinking. I don't like this hifonics at all its makes my subs sound muddy no matter how I tune it so an upgrade is in the near future. Really don't want to go over $350-$400 and probably right around 1500 rms
  10. i would most likely sell the hifonics to get the aq
  11. No but last time I put out a good deal I got tons of pm asking for hook ups. I was just wondering if it would be worth it to sell my hifonics and pick up the aq
  12. Dont really want to put the full specifics out but let's just say damn near free
  13. I just question the longevity and overall quality of the hifonics. I got it for free so i'm really not losing if I blow it I was just wondering if the AQ is of better quality than the hifonics
  14. You personally would stick with the hifonics?
  15. isn't the hfi series kind of crappy though? Just what I've heard on here and SMD, i'm thinking more along the lines of longevity not necessarily audible difference
  16. Why wouldn't it? Just curious
  17. I still have my 15" sundowns and I've recently been offered a pretty good deal on this amp. I was wondering if it's better than my current amp found here.
  18. I just wanted to know how the sundowns were better than the alpines. I'm not dead set on any set I was just throwing out options and wanted to know what you guys thought
  19. I'm not ignoring your comments. I don't know what they mean. I've never really done components. I have some cheap Rockford primes now but usually just run coaxials
  20. I almost have to go off of names I like. 1.) I can't listen to either of the sets 2.) Internet reviews mean nothing 3.) The sundown is the cheapest of the three
  21. I was talking in terms of speakers/subs not necessarily amps. I can't hear either of my 3 options so either way will be a stab in the dark so to speak
  22. What has sundown made that isn't respectable? I wouldn't make this decision with alpine or kicker just because I have been let down with brands like this. I've never seen or heard anything sundown that wasn't well produced or didn't sound good. It saves me a a bit of money too
  23. Why not venture out and try something new. I'm not a big alpine fan i've just heard good things from close friends. I've never seen something bad made by sundown. If i'm disappointed I put them in my other car and buy the alpines.
  24. I might just wait and get these I know sundown makes quality equipment and they are cheaper than both sets of alpines
