2 12's or 1 15?
Alright. Do l7s sound pretty good when placed on the proper amp? i've never personally heard 12" l7s. I used to have a single 15" l7 then had 12" l3s then I had 15" l5s but never 2 12s

2 12's or 1 15?
I have a 99 cougar with 2 12" l7s on a planet audio aq2500m. they are in the prefabbed kicker box with the side aero port. I have to run the subs at 4 ohms so they arent getting much power so i was wondering if I should: 1.) Try to sell the amp and buy a 1 ohm stable 2.) Sell them and buy dual 2 ohm coils 3.) Sell them and get 2 12" subs but that would have to be in the range of $100-$175 apiece ( was thinking maybe decons) 4.) Sell them and get a single 15 in a nice box but would have to cost around $200 give or take. If i do get a different set up I would hope that it would be an upgrade from the l7s. If i switch subs i probably won't get a new amp. This one isn't too terrible and this car is only my daily driver to and from work/school so I don't need to spend the money on amp and electrical and this one doesn't pull too much. The only upgrade i'll do to it are big 3 and probably a bigger battery up front.

He has a 1998 blazer and I have 1998 jimmy so how would they be any different acoustically? I'm fairly content with my subs now so a new box is mandatory just when i do build a new one i want a little more lows to pick up
-
Apology
i've heard the same subs in similar box the only difference was he is running a sundown 1200d and i'm running the hifonics. similar vehicles as well

the hifonics brutus isn't that bad from what i've read but the hfi which is what i have is not a good amp at all. I just got it really cheap and i was in desperate need of an amp

Apology
no quite as hard as a choke slam but harder than the rock bottom. they were quite a bit better than mine. It will be awhile before i do the box anyway. I wanna get my electrical system beefed up get rid of this crappy hifonics amp and then do some sound deadener and then i will talk about doing a new box and subs

I've personally seen sa15s slam lows. at car audio shows not spl comps
-
Apology
the box i have now is just under 7 cubes and at 35 hz and picks up lows pretty well i just want more. I've seen other sa15s slam the lows. As for my amp i'm currently running a hifonics hfi1500.1 upgrade is coming soon because i hate this amp. probably gonna ground around 1700-2000 rms thinking maybe an aq 2200 or a skar 1500. Any other suggestions??

Anyway no that we are on good terms. What would be a good box for sa-15's. I've found a new love in low bass so that's how i want to build it and i'm gonna build a good front stage for the highs

haha i don't think that would work out to well!

thanks guys. I thought i knew a lot about car audio (which I do for my area but that's not saying much) but you guys know so much its crazy! And with me about to redo my build I'm gonna need help and from what you guys are saying people in my area don't know to much haha

Apology
I want to apologize to any of you who have tried to help me or if i offended any of you in anyway. I hate being wrong and was being bone headed because of it. Could you guys forgive me? I realize you guys know infinitely more about this kind of stuff than I do and instead of arguing with you guys I need to listen and learn so someday i can be in your shoes. so once again i'm sorry guys

Big 3 Question
i went out and looked at it didn't seem like i would have any snags. Do you guys fuse yours or not? i've seen it done both ways

Big 3 Question
He had to go to napa to buy a tool to get to where the wire mounted and it didn't have a post it like went into the alt it was weird AF
-
Big 3 Question
He had an 09 japense something or other. It wasn't just a nut and a post.
-
Big 3 Question
it wasn't to remove the battery cable it was to remove the wire that attached to the alternator. He had to go rent one from an auto parts shop
-
Big 3 Question
I had a friend of mine do his and ended up needing a special tool to do the wire from alt to battery so i was just making sure i wouldn't need anything like that
-
Big 3 Question
Anybody with a 98 or newer jimmy/blazer had any issues doing the big 3 upgrade? I have all the wire just wanna make sure i'm not gonna have any surprises when i go to do it

40 hz too high?
possibly, he might have just cut out part of the box so it rests on the wells. i'm too lazy to do that haha i'll just upgrade 15s, probably gonna go with death rows or xcons. Both of those would be upgrades from my sundowns right??
-
40 hz too high?
guy fit 18s in his blazer and i don't know how. I have a maximum of like 37 width and he has space between his. how does that work??
-
40 hz too high?
Yea the wheel wells screw me. I really don't think I could fit 2 18s in there with any design. I think if i do upgrade i would have to get different 15s
-
40 hz too high?
would it be bad to put the subs like this? Sub Here Sub Here I could fit them like that and could build a box around 12 cubes before displacement
-
40 hz too high?
you guys changed my view haha I think i'm going to get 18s. How are the ssa icons? I wanna make sure whatever i get is an upgrade from my sundowns. I watched some vids and read some other forums and 18s seem like they would be bad ass
