in search of a groundpounder
ROFLMAO! I gotta agree with Big John on many aspects here. I watched in amazment as a truck with 4 15" RE XXX's got owned by another truck with 3 12's....so like he said, if done right, sometimes less is more.

components sets
Thanks SouthPole, I get a chance to hear them in a little SPL car tomorrow so I will know what they sound like and will go from there. The guy who owns the car actually said the same thing to me last night and that he is planning on switching them out soon.

components sets
Ok, I will give the XXX a good thought...I fig for the price of those though I could probably pick up some nice focal's even.

components sets
I am also kinda lookin at Kicker and the RE XXX component series

components sets
Other than the sheer look of multiple sets, I will be running 3 15" BTLs and need a little "umph" to keep up with all the bass.

components sets
so i take it the RF componenet set is not to hot since i am also getting no feedback at all on them, lol.

components sets
I have already been doing some research, but am still fairly lost. I am going with a passive setup and will be using quite a few component sets and am still unsure who is really good and such. I am looking at about $300 a set roughly. As it stands now I am kinda lookin at the one of the Rockford Fosgate power comp sets to use, but I am still really unsure. Some insight would be great.

Any beer snobs here?
Shoferhoffer Hefe Weitzen...mmmmmmmm. I like a lot of Dutch beers. Lets see if I can spell it, lol; Linen Kugel (they make the Sunset Wheat, Honey Weiss, and a few others I really enjoy. I also like some dark beers like Old Amsterdaeus. I like a few oatmeal stouts as well, like Hobgoblin. Once in a blue moon I will drink this stuff called 1)Satans brew 2)Bezelbub.....both are like 10 and 12% by volume. I live in Pensacola so I spend a lot of time at McGuirres drinking their stuff....love their Rasberry stout, mmmm.

box help for 4 12" BLs, maybe
aero ports huh? Never even seen them, lol, but I do know what they look like. How can you retune your box with them? Is there length adjustable or something? I know I know, I am a noob, lol. I will have to give some more thought as to what class I wanna compete in, I think I would have a better chance with only 2 subs as opposed to running 4.

box help for 4 12" BLs, maybe
Box has yet to be made, regardless it will be the optimal enclosure according to the Fi specs. Amps, I was thinking 2 sundown 3k's. It is gonna be in a blowthrough in a 08 Ford F-150 quadcab (would take out back seat, but planning for a kid soon), so gonna do a good old blowthrough with a tonnaeu cover.

box help for 4 12" BLs, maybe
Ok guys. The time is coming up fast to kick off my build. However, I had a few last minute worries (still designing a box) and was curious. I am still debating if I wanna build a box so I can slide it between the wheel wells for real quick sub "fixes" if I must, but am still not sure, what do you think? I want to compete in SPL comps, so I wanna make sure I do this right, lol. How much of a difference would I notice if I went with 2 15" BTLs over 4 12" BLs? With 2 15's the box would just be soooo much easier to design, and I think I am worried about fudging something with the 4 12's. sigh, I need a little help plz, guidance, anything.

midbass in kicks?
SWEETT! I was hopin someone would post something like that Neon. That is why I had questions marks by where I put it and stated I am new with this one. Now I know about what freq range I should be going with.

larger PVC ports, need info
great, thanks M5, I wasn't to sure cause I really haven't seen anyone do that, or even use straight up BIG round ports in a larger enclosure.

midbass in kicks?
I would too, lol. I am currently lookin at 6.5's and 8's for the the midbass. I am going to try and tune my subs to around 32-34 HZ range, so would something like 38Hz and up (not sure how high midbass goes up to) or so be good for midbass? This is a little new to me. Price, about 300 a set. As for power, I dont care, I am getting new amps. If it can get loud and handle good power, then that is good for me. Depth isnt going to matter anymore cause the guy that is building the panels said he is gonna fab me new doors for almost nothing.

larger PVC ports, need info
I was thinking about to the standard square ports, but last night I thought about doing one, maybe two, larger round ports using PVC. Has anyone tried this. I was thinking something like 8" diameter ports, maybe two of them. Since it is going in a blowthrough, is it also okay to extend the ports out a little, maybe almost into the blowthrough to ensure more pressure from the port goes directly into the cabin of the truck.

port help
Oh ok, I see what you are saying now. I never really thought of doing it on one side, lol. I have always been the type of person who was "stuck" on keeping things symmetric, lol.

port help
I currently do have a ported setup, but it is only 2 12's with the port in the middle. Now I was thinking port in the middle with 2 on each side, but not directly beside one another. This is the first box I am building, so I wanna make sure everything is planned before I start making cuts. Let me make a poor attempt at doing an illustration, but it will be tighter of course, lol. O O O || O

port help
I will be doing a blowthrough in my truck, gonna order amps and such on Wednesday. Anyhow, it is going to be 4 12" BLs, but my question is, how do you think I should do my port. I was thinking staggering the 4 subs. The two outside ones low, the two middle higher up allowing the subs to sit closer together, and doing one big square port in the middle of the box. My goal is to be a rid. loud daily pounder with possible compeition...will this work?

Enough Power?
Why would we get on to you for the P3's? I mean, at least they are better than Sony Xplodes. I have two 12" P3's in a little ranger that I use for a work truck, and they can do little hair tricks. More than I can say a lot of people around me can do, lol. But I am about to step up to 6k watts and 4 12" BLs.

NEW LAW!!!! (important read) everyone please
I hear that Xibalba.

midbass in kicks?
Oh wow, I so should have saw that question coming. I am gonna have to double check, but I think my subs are going to be tuned to around 32Hz, so I am not entirly sure on midbass, this is the first time I have done this. Usually I just throw some 6x8's in and go, but I wanna do this one right. Budget, I would say I am trying to keep it around 300 a set. Depth, not to sure, either way I now fig I am gonna have to do some fab work to the door, so I can get some pods built into it. I still need to buy new amps for the mids and highs, so I am open on power at the moment to be honest.

midbass in kicks?
thanks. I was a little off about what to put where. Can anyone suggest any good midbass drivers?

midbass in kicks?
Hey guys, so I am making a LOUD daily pounder with a good possibility for competition. I keep reading stuff about adding midbass up front. At the moment I am planning on running 4 12's (either havocs or BLs) in the back off of about 6k watts total (probably 2 sundowns for amps). I am lookin at RF 5.25" comp sets for the doors (at least up front), more than likely an entire set per side, 1 speaker+tweet in the door and one in the A-pillar. Will I be needing midbass??? And if so, is it okay to put that in something like a kick panel instead of doing MAJOR refab work to the door?
