  1. when u say 4 cubes NET to work with, i'm assuming u already know how the port will be installed. 2 AQ HDC3 12s off of 2 Audiopipe AP 30001Ds (6,000w) Make sure u get the Aluminum coiled versions = ~$1350 If built right, u can get loud with it. I was able to do 148s with 4,500w off of 2 of those 12s in a hatch tuned daily.
  2. Kinda curious why u got rid of the wall. I'm not sayin bandpass isn't a bad choice, it should be more efficient actually but just curious. If you were using the same subs, what kinda power did you have available? I got a buddy that has a wall with basically the same sub, FI recones 2 18s doin 153s on 5kw or high 151s on music. His is tuned to peak at 36hz and capable of dropping to 18hz just fine. His wall is ridiculously large, prob 20cuft or so.
  3. There's one in Hayward, Sacramento, San Diego and Orange
  4. I'll be honest with you upfront- MECA is mostly based on the Eastcoast. The Commissioner, Steve Stern, actually setup some shows in CA and some have already happened this year! Here is the part that sucks- World Finals is held at only one place... typically in Tennessee. So, for people who live on the other side of the country... it may not be worthwhile to compete in this sanction if you are planning on attending world finals. Now, you can still hold State records in this sanction, but world finals is usually always held in Tennessee and is a 2day event. If still interested, let me know. You still have IASCA and USACI to look into.
  5. Wouldnt it be one of the biggest ironies in Car Audio to have the tlab replaced with this meter in some sanctions to save cost on hosting shows and start paying competitors higher cash prizes or just the capability to host more shows from the average joe hosting company? OF course it isn't as easy as that as sanctions have metering rules but still... it could happen.
  6. Yea, i'll admit, i bought one of those Hypderdynamics meters from MakeItLouder. The one you use a multimeter then gotta calculate the pressure level based on the volt out reading. It's a great little meter for simple things but you also gotta realize- In competition, a pressure meter cycles in 1 sec intervals and takes an average reading of everything in 1 sec intervals. When i use that Hyperdynamics meter, the multimeter refreshes rapidly so u can't get a realistic score when trying to measure very high pressure levels because the multimeter won't stay constant if you are peaking your install. the only option was a termlab... well, not anymore It's like a blessing from car audio heaven. If you've ever heard me rant before, Tlab's interface box is what kills me about their setup. It's that box that gets damaged more than anything else. People draggin it around, droppin it off tables, etc... That thing is a $300 replacement piece. What is there to replace with the SPL-LAB setup? IT's just the meter... direct to your computer. Or direct to a handheld viewer for those that don't wanna bring their laptop with them. Only thing to really replace is the meter.. we all know how durable these things are.
  7. Like i said, we'll see how this group buy goes. Once we get our vendor status completed with SSA later on, we may do another group buy which should be bigger and then we may look into doing that... or we do it after this one... But, like any market, there must be a large interest in it or not worth it at this time. Just like anything, it takes a large bulk order to remain dealer status and we have to just see what happens...
  8. lol, just replied to your wrong thread post, we too fast for each other.
  9. i know what u mean. I posted this in the group buy thread just now but this is new to the US public. Once it becomes common product, WE MAY very well start stocking these in decent quantities for the US market, but at this time... little by little.
  10. If it ever becomes a common thing for LARGE requests of these meters, we may start stocking these here in the USA so there is no long shipping delays but now is not that time because we just started the business relation and the meter is still new to the US public market. But by that time, we would be part of SSA's vendor program by that time and would be offering a LOT more than just meters... Don't worry, we plan on offering lots of things.. this is the only thing u will see for the time being until we get our things situated and officially become part of SSA's vendor program.
  11. Yes you can and i'll say this again so nobody is confused- When the time comes, you can pay with Paypal or Money Order. When the group buy ends, the group buy list will be forwarded to them for revision to finalize pricing. Because they "might" run out of inventory, the pricing i posted in this group buy is if everybody bought the same thing in a sense. IF they gotta go into production and make a bunch of different things, pricing "might" increase... So, they will give me the concrete pricing once they get the list. IF the pricing is changed, i will make everybody aware before money is requested. I'm not expecting it too but i want everybody to know so it's not something spontaneous that happens after the group buy is over. Don't wanna surprise somebody. If the pricing remains the same, or if everybody agrees on the new price(if there is one, which there shouldnt be) THEN money will be requested. Once all money has been sent, ALL orders will be sent off and will take approximately 3-4 weeks to receive the meter. Approximately 2 weeks to get it past customs and into the states and 1 week max for delivery back out. I give them a 1 week leniency period if they gotta go back into production because they already know how many people are on the list right now. So to sum it all up, no money will be requested until after the group buy is over and Paypal or Money Order is accepted.
  12. Late to the party? yea, lol. As soon as i got off work, that's when i seen it available. It's hard to keep in contact daily with a company who has a several hour difference in time than I do while at work. But i make do just fine.
  13. the interface box alone is $300. The meter is $200. They give you a carrying case! WOW!!! OMG! I think they also charge licensing for their software, right? SPL-Lab's software is free. SPL-Lab's uses no interface box which drastically reduces cost.
  14. then u better get in on the group buy then and save u some money. I HIGHLY encourage anyone that has doubts to read their website www.spl-lab.ru and see what all they have to offer. We have access to all their products. I own a termlab and i still want one of these meters because i never liked the interface box that comes with the termlab... too expensive to replace, stupid concept, in my opinion to have to use and not well thought through when built. IF you ever look at the internals of an interface box.. it's not user serviceable... circuit board soldered on top of another circuit board.. come on now ... It's funny because i didnt know the OP made this thread and i just got word about the new vid and posted the link to it on the group buy thread then i see this thread and another forum was talkin about it too.
  15. like with all boxes i build.. visually watch the sub's movement on very low tunes to ensure that they do not bottom out before lettin it rip on music. Use that subsonic filter if necessary even on a sealed box. Crossovers on an amp shouldnt be set based on a rule of thumb but to prevent equipment failure then to set to your personal listening preference. If u got access to test tones, that'd be the key to set the crossover right to whatever size box you build, even if it's their recommended size.
  16. without actually knowing the subs personally and just by going off of sealed boxes in general- The larger a sealed box, the more flat it can sound until it is put in a car as a car will have peaks in your response. The smaller a sealed box, it will still have peaks regardless but a smaller sealed box will tend to peak in the upper frequency range. the smaller sealed box may feel like it's pounding your chest harder so to say but you loose some of that low end feeling at the same time. I would stick with their musical preference for music. You can always build the sealed box to 2 cuft net and see how that sounds. Be careful though as to not bottom out your sub as the larger the sealed box, the less and less power it will want mechanically. If the box were to be found to be too big, you can always add a couple to a few layers of wood inside to decrease volume.
  17. i guess the mdf that is sold in my area is the good stuff because i've had it rained on before and i dried it off and still never had problems with it. I've never had any problems with mdf around here... and we build lots of boxes around this area. I am planning on going with 2x4s and Oak with my next build just because it's thicker and heavier.
  18. what's ur next build? I'll tell u mine if u tell me urs, hehe... This isn't finalized yet because i won't EXACTLY what cone area i'll be usin until i see how much baffle room i have left... But as of right now... We are lookin at tearin the wall down and rebuildin with 5 Lvl4XL 12s off of 32,500w think that should be loud in a scion tc? LMAO...
  19. Oscar r - I have sent your request to the manufacturer and I will let you know something either tonight or tomorrow evening, ok? For those who still WANT TO SEE THIS THING IN ACTION- Look here- Go to this link and play the first video you see- This video is done with both a Tlab and an SPL-LAB mic on the windshield within a couple inches of each other. SPL-LAB rates their meter to be within 0.1db accurate of the Tlab and this is proof- New SPL-Lab Video The 0.1db variance could be caused from the meters not being in the exact location or just the accuracy of the meter itself. Notice how the resolution on the SPL-Lab meter is DIGITAL when reading frequency and by the 1\100th! Termlab's frequency resolution is only by a whole number, not even a tenth! Also notice how the Termlab and SPL-LAB operate differently when the burp is done. The termlab cycles in 1 sec intervals when displaying the results. The SPL-LAB software rapidly rolls up to the resulting number without any breaks in the score. Imagine what it would look like in realtime metering? When you need to see change happen faster than 1 second intervals, you see this meter will help you! However, don't let the rapid refresh rate of this meter fool you... IT still reads just as accurate as a Tlab, but faster
  20. no because a d2 sub can ONLY be wired at 1 or 4 ohm. To run it at 2 ohms, u would need 2 amps, one ran to EACH coil. I'd only recommend doin that for burps but i know that's not your intentions. A dual 1 or Dual 4 ohm sub is what's needed for 2 ohm wiring with that amp for max safe output.
  21. I see a lot of people gettin into car audio lately with some pretty decent setups, a lot better than the average joe going to the shop to have their stuff installed. Any of you ever thought about competing? I used to be like a bunch of you... Thinking competition is too professional. Been doin it for years, know way more than what you may know... Well you know what. That's not the case at all! Many people i have met over the past several months are newcomers who have grown a lot since their first competition. You meet many people who have plenty of knowledge to share. You gain knowledge and the respect of the car audio world. I had been in the competition scene for several years before i started competing which was actually just last October at MECA, the 1st sanctioned division i have competed with. If you live on the East Coast, central to southside, there are many MECA shows to attend! I highly recommend attending and competing at these shows to gain further knowledge about your equipment, your install and your vehicle. After being to several shows, you will see how much respect you gain about the car audio world itself and tend to grow maturity-wise about the whole hobby. There are MANY of us who compete. Many of us are members here on SSA. We are here to help in anyway possible. I like to meet new competitors and existing ones because there is never enough knowledge and experience to go around If you have any questions about MECA or competition, in general, ask me before reading the rulebook. The rulebook may seem overwhelming at first. That's why you should ask a competitor to summarize things up first prior to competing so it doesn't seem like you are jumping into something you know nothing about. I hope this post brings more competitors to the MECA association as I always love to meet newcomers to the hobby. Hope to see you soon as the year progresses.
  22. make the internal volume smaller? that will gradually increase tuning.

  24. Yes it does. According to their site, it is timed for 30 second averages just like Bassrace or Park n Boom\Driveby in MECA.
