Welcome to the IHoP v.2
No transfer brother. I am on paid vacation (using up the rest of my vacation time as I transition out) until August 27th. Already in FL and now job hunting again, as well as apt/house hunting. Also, to buy or to rent....any opinions? J

Huachuca sucked for that. They didn't advertise much and the prices when advertised weren't that good. J

Yea no shit. Considering I skimped out on getting my other sleeve done for this....yea I am pissed off. I cannot blame my direct info source as he is in a similar WTF boat as I am. But the dude who is fucking with this? He shall get his. Other than this, FL has been nice and relaxing, the dog has adjusted well and I am hunting for a place to live once my shit arrives. J

On a seperate topic the job hunt resumes. It is appearing as if something thing went fucked up. Nothing on my end, but on someone's. I hate to say it, but I feel scammed. This, is a feeling I never tend to take well unfortunately. J

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
At the end of the day it comes down to timing and location. Yes better equipment can make for a better shot, but it doesn't mean shit if you miss being there by a minute or a yard. J

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Now I'm sure it'll change if we ever decide if we will have or even can have kids, but with my 4 nephews/nieces I've yet to miss something on a Christmas/Easter/birthday/etc that was due to camera/operator error and not just my not having a camera up with a Sony HX9v P&S. Now the wife does just hand me the camera and ask for me to take the family pictures since they turn out better and easier for her. Money spent on a DSLR with quality glass for the reasons of capturing family moments is perfectly valid and I'll never question for that, but it certainly isn't the only way to get good pictures, but some times you need all the help you can get. Same with if its a tax writeoff for work/business/etc, hard to not enjoy tax free purchases. One thing though for all you folks who like to photograph everything. PUT DOWN THE DAMN CAMERA AND LIVE SOME EVENTS IN REAL LIFE, NOT THROUGH THE VIEW FINDER. It's a balance between living life camera in hand and living it for what it is. J

I see the sense in it for me. For me a P&S doesn't always cut it due to lighting conditions and distance. I have used mine in the past to generate income, and document some of my best memories. Now it will take on a new direction. Just gotta see what that will be yet. J

Then go for it. I am not saying Nikon is a bad choice. Super interesting though. I know 2 concert photographs, one who tours with a band, another who covers local shows. Both use canon. When I sold cameras at the shop, I worked with one person who used Nikon professionally and he used it in a studio. The other 2 wedding guys use both Nikon and Canon. Nikon is cheeper. By 10% or more. In the fast full frames however the 1dx kicks the ass of everything from Nikon. So if it's fast sports or phottojournalism or low light the Canon demolishes the Nikon. By such a huge margin it's a little stupid. Way more FPS, way more low light capabilities, faster focus with more focus points and a smarter system. The Nikon is roughly 10% cheeper but the Canon is several stops better ISO, and 40% more FPS and somewhere between 10 and 5 times less shutter lag. The used market is bigger and it had more aftermarket support. Specs wise is one thing, but it is also easier to use. It's controlls allow for same ergonomic control in landscape or portrait. "That Nikon guy" has a good video talking about how is finds the Canon to basically be a generation ahead of the Nikon.... He is a Nikon fanboy from the get go. In the 5Diii vs the D800, again 10% price difference but better low light performance by several stops. Much more FPS. More versatile with storage, customized presets at one touch hard buttons for fast access, less menu work, lighter, less noise in higher ISO. Ken Rockwell makes a great discussion about it. Nikon in the studio on the tripod, Canon in the bag. With the arguments that you are presenting I am starting to get the itch to give one a chance. Maybe in the future if things go according to plan. Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I will keep a lot of specs out as my knowledge is lacking, but I will say this. In the pit at Concerts I have covered 5/8 are Nikon users. Combat photographers carry Nikon 9/10 times. My grandfather who has been photographing for over 60 years is a Nikon man. So for me, it's a no brainer. J

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Long ass trip. Ended up staying one night in TX and one in LA. Was more expensive on gas than I had figured got stuck in traffic in a few spots and damn near got rear ended. The vehicle behind me saved my ass by turning away as they got hit. The drivers down here are apeshit at times. All in all though this is a good thing. Wednesday I find out more bout work. I just need to finish unloading the truck bed and get my FL license and tags soon. J

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Well i'm about 35 miles east of Ft Stockton, TX. With the bed fully loaded and doing 80-90 most or the way. I drove to Van Horn TX last night and after getting there around 5 am I had to stop for some sleep. Legs were killing me, and shooting pain through my knee. So we got a long way to go, and a short time to get there. J
