  1. The higher freq sounds overdriven When I raise my LPF to 50 Hz with a 18DB slope. Then i turned down the gain and the high was fine but it lacked volume with the low freqs.
  2. In the ported box it makes mechanical noise with the high stuff but not so much sealed box.. But that is exactly what i did and it sounds way better than it did before because it sounded like shit with the LPF at 60.. Like the subs were getting really loud and bottoming on the high end but barely playing the lower notes.. so i cut the highs with the LPF and cranked the gain.. I'll try what you told me and see how you works.. but i think its something with the subs.. like they take less power to get loud on the high freq than the lower freqs.
  3. it works perfectly fine.. for some reason it'll play way higher than 40 Hz.. LPF.. Apline CDA-9855 what slope, if it is only a 6db then of course it will either 18 or 12.. but i believe its 18.. i'll check tom
  4. it works perfectly fine.. for some reason it'll play way higher than 40 Hz.. LPF.. Apline CDA-9855
  5. i have it set to 40 with the speakers sealed.. they go crazy with the high frequency and don't pick up the lows as easily.. so i set the crossover low to compensate for that.. because they make mechanical noise when i send too much high freq to them.. and it doesn't blend cause my front stage sucks.. 4x6's need to be discontinued.. lol.. but they would def blend if i had a pair of 6.5's on that active crossover..
  6. the box i built wasn't designed to fit in the truck.. it was to test if i could build a compact box and make it sound good with good output.
  7. 11.25 of port area per cubic foot of volume.. sorry for the type-o.. the crossover on the amp doesn't really matter much because i have the one on head unit set to 35 Hz with a 18 db slope. No bass boost on the amp.. but I guess i use a booster on the head unit on like 4.. the scale is 0-15
  8. 5.5 x 9.5 x 16 x 56 O.D. wedge box with 5.5 and 9.5 being the different depths using 3/4 inch wood for one 12inch sub
  9. The reason it is small is because I have a limited amount of room in my truck. Is there any way to design a compact ported enclosure for a 12 to be louder than a sealed box in the lower freq range? That was my aim because i am disappointed with the low end sound and loudness of my 12's in their sealed enclosures.
  10. Autotek MM1000.1D. This box was a test to see if I am capable of porting. http://by113w.bay113.mail.live.com/att/GetAttachment.aspx?tnail=0&messageId=566bebd0-bc43-4d5e-a8d8-71d1c775e0c9&Aux=0|0|8CBEA5BAB595A90| http://by113w.bay113.mail.live.com/att/GetAttachment.aspx?tnail=0&messageId=de4befed-b21f-4159-99d5-3afcb8dd95a3&Aux=0|0|8CBEA5BB8E38A50|
  11. So I designed and built my first ported box on my own, and it does not sound like i anticipated. I believe you all can help. The box is for a single 12'' Fi X with 1.6 cuft @ 31.00 Hz. The sub has a 0.1 cuft displacement, and the Fs is 25.7 Hz. I was told to tune a little higher than the Fs. The O.D. of the box is 16 x 14.75 x 21.625 The port is 8 x 2.25 x 27.875. I used WinISD to design the port. I used 11.25 sqft of port area. I was hoping for it to be musical and be able to go from high freq. to low freq. without problems, but it bottoms out easily on the lows and makes mechanical noise on the highs even with my active cross over set to 35 Hz with a 18 DB slope. I was thinking that i may have too much port area because it seems like the speaker does not have enough back pressure to control its movement. What do you all think?
  12. Sorry.. i wasn't very clear.. The box has a recessed sub mount which adds to the total depth. Also, the box for the two tens was behind the back seat of a four door f250.. again.. HOW ARE YOU MAKING THAT BEAST FIT? haha
  13. Nice box. How are you getting that box to fit? The Bl's are deep and the wide magnet plays a role in it too once you angle the face of the box.. Plus the box is recessed... Ha my friend has a box for two jl w0 10s and the box is not deep and it didn't look like there was any more room back there! Relocating the seats forward? ha I'm curious because i wanted to do something like that in my single cab with a bench seat, which was adjustable. When it was adjusted all the way forward, humping the steering wheel, i still didn't have the room back there! That box has to be about 11.5 inches deep at the base and 7.5 inches deep at the top.. so HOW?!?!?!
  14. WEDGE A 2X4 BETWEEN THE FLOOR AND THE CONTROL PANEL!!!!!!!!!!!! Haha all bullshit aside, I know what you're talking about. I don't know about Tahoe's, but i know most vehicles have two layers of sheet metal for the roof. One being the outside of the car and the other being the part on the inside.. Maybe you could remove the control panel or some plastic trim pieces.. or anything that will give you better access to the inner layer of the roof and secure it better with a few self tapping screws. Keep in mind this is a theory and if your roof is flexing its not gonna do a damned thing, or at least i don't think so.. Ha
  15. VIDS TO COME!!! I finally reinstalled all four drivers.. I had to repair the leads on one of them.. When installed it the first time i knew i had a blown lead on one of the drivers, but I hooked it up only using the other coil for that sub (only running 7 coils). It was loud, but now that I have all 8 coils operating it sounds a bit louder!!!! :bigclap: It gave me a headache on the way home tonight.. windows all the way down doing 70 mph and it was still givin my head hell!! When I stop it feels soo much louder!! Im curious as to what it would run on a TL. Also, the autotek mm1000.1D is whoopin ass at 2 ohms.. I thought i would need a bigger amp, but it seems like its doing fine! I may be clipping the signal a tad with stock electrical, but maybe not...
  16. I wasn't sure where to post this so it will probably be moved.. But im planning a new box and im debating what frequency to tune to.. The thing is that i have a box in my truck now that is tuned to 40Hz and I want to play sine wave tracks (30hz, 31hz, 32hz.. and so on) to determine where my box peaks at with cabin gain. I believe this will help me make my decision because I don't really know what hz is playing in a song and say my setup starts dropping of around 45hz now.. I may want it to drop off around 35hz.. Also i will use the tracks to compete if i ever build a loud setup. I buddy of mine used to have a cd with tracks like this so I know they're out there.. Could you email them to <[email protected]> Thanks!
  17. Want loud? Go to radioshack and get two 25 watt 8 ohm PA drivers and hook um up to your amp. Ha f'n loud! A guy i know put two in his headrest facing the back of your head. Yea, i didn't like ridin it that truck! lol It was insane!! Doesn't sound good.. but you said loud!
  18. The low end of these subs is not comparable to any other sub on the Fi line, so maybe you are expecting too much from a 300watt driver?
  19. Really? I didn't get the PM yet.. Maybe it's on its way? Thanks Who knows. where are you in LA? St. John Parish. You?
  20. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=23110 This will give you a better understanding on how to do it, but if you have fair knowledge of geometry of circles it makes this a lot easier. (arc length formula/circuferance/etc.)
  21. Really? I didn't get the PM yet.. Maybe it's on its way? Thanks
  22. Ha, lucky for you!!! But thanks!! The angle of the box is steeper than the angle of the back seat and the subs are recessed! I have no problem with that! Thanks for the concern and compliments!! Sweet! Just lookin' out. I really like these subs. Great entry level driver. Small space requirement. And man they dig deep for the low xmax. You will be happy. Yes, I've had them in the truck for a few months now. I just forgot to post pictures because they were on my phone. They dig, but id like to build a ported enclosure and tune around 34-35hz so id get more low end but maintain the higher frequencies. Actually I blew the leads on one of my subs so everything has been out of the truck for almost a month now. I was getting used to how loud it was but I'll be able to see how loud my setup really is when i reinstall it! Thread of me fixing the sub: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=27579
  23. That was my original plan, but thats from the point of view from where i was takin the pic. Think of it as if you were sitting in either seat. That Fi logo faces the driver/passenger.
  24. Ha, lucky for you!!! But thanks!! The angle of the box is steeper than the angle of the back seat and the subs are recessed! I have no problem with that! Thanks for the concern and compliments!!
