  1. And here lies the problem. Then again Rockford has the time and money to educate the public so we will see.
  2. Outlaw dash cam
  3. They are both good quality amps. I'd get the alpine solely bc it's brand new.
  4. Pull the headliner down and sandwich a sheet of "mass loaded vinyl" between the headliner and sheetmetal.
  5. According to Webster it was entered in its dictionary in 1951 and is defined as: a person who is enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction. High-fidelity was entered in 1934 and is defined as the reproduction of an effect that is very faithful to the original
  6. I know itll never stop vilolence. I'd just hope it'll help the ignorant people from hurting themselves. I do a lot of work outside the U.S. and most of the "bad" places never have theft and such. Know why? Because eveyone's packing. Same reason why violence isnt as bad in the country. Yea the guy in the city might have a gun, but you can be be damn certain the redneck definantly has one.
  7. I agree. Just because I don't see the need doesn't mean I want the government to control it. I got my hunter safety card on 09/09/95 (yes I still keep it in my pocket) so I just turned 11 years old. I got my concealed weapons pemit on 8/19/2009. If an 11 year old can be legally competant to handle a gun I don't see it being too hard for an adult doing it. Just look around at how many knukle heads you see every day. Do you really want them walking into a walmart and buying a Mosberg just because they have no prior record. We live in a world of Jersey Shore and the Kardashians, unfortunately we have the average joe walking the streets to thank for that, the same knuckle heads that see a AK youtube video and run and buy one bc they think its cool.
  8. I like guns a lot. and I shoot a lot. All of my guns together are worth more than my home and vehicles combined. I personally dont see the need for a magazine that large. Even when hunting most states have a maximum of around 5 rounds. And if you need a magazine that big there better be a lot of people after you or you just don't need the gun in the first place. The govnmt shouldn't make it illegal purely for the fact that all the people doing wrong are breaking the law anyway. If they want it bad enough they will get it. I do however believe that the government should mandate that in order to purchase a gun you must recieve a consealed weapons permit and/or have a hunter's saftey course. Either of which can be obtained over a weekend of training.
  9. This will be the first sub I will be building using the frames that I will tooling. It's an ongoing project and I'll update it as it progresses. I'm calling it "Trident" due to the three top plates as shown in the below density pic. What you are looking at is an assymetrical view of the motor with the pole being on the left and the outside of the magnets to the right. From top to bottom it goes. 1. top plate 2. magnet 3. top plate 4. magnet 5. frame (being the frame is sandwiched into the motor it acts as an effective radiator pulling heat from the gap) 6. top plate 7. magnet 8. bottom plate In all the motor is 270mm wide and 210mm tall This next pic is the B intensity inside the gaps that the coil travels through. The gaps aren't perfect yet (i'm still tweaking them, rememer this is an ongoing project) but you can see the general idea. The coil sits center of the center gap or hump. As it leaves the center gap it loses BL from that gap and gains from the gap that it is entering so that over its entire stroke it's BL remains almost constant. I plan on staying with a 3 inch 8 layer flat aluminum coil. I modeled some 4inch coils and there really wasn't much benefit beside I want to keep the spider as large as possible and the 3 inch coil should handle the power well for its intented use. The folowing are the projected specs for the sub. 12" sub sd .0491 m^2 Re 1.75 (series) Fo 34.8 hz Qts .4901 Qes .5269 Qms 7 (estimated) Vas 23.15 L BL 14.98 T/M (current model has 16.4) xmax 62.5mm one way @ 10% distortion (apprx. 70mm one way @ 70% BL Rms 9.652 Mms 406 grams Cms 68.38 uM/N spl 91.07 @2.83 volts Enclosure 2 cubic feet Fb 30.43 hz F3 26 hz Pe Max 6670 watts 2.779 db ripple

  11. I've been a dealer for IA for over three years and I don't remember there every being a preorder on any product. However I could be wrong. Their number is located on their site give them a call and leave a detailed message. Also send an email to: [email protected] He is the owner and normally responds to emails in a few days. However CES is next week and most of them will be out of the office.
  12. That xp looks like it has a decent amount of strands in it.
  13. Get the model number off the relay. Most electronic sites have cross reference guides

  15. Looks like I have to toggle between editing modes. Maybe Mark or Arron will know why.
  16. I just got a new computer that runs windows 8. When posting I cannot hit "enter" to go to the next line. The cursor just sits next to the last letter typed. Is there a function I can change to fix this?
  17. The above parameters and charts are real world testing on the actual sample via a Klippel Analyzer. For modeling I use a few Programs. To figure what's needed for a particular driver I use SpeaD and Reverse SpeaD. For example with the Ethos 12" I wanted a sub with 30mm one way xmax that would work in a 2 cubic foot box tuned to 32 hertz with a 25-30 hertz f3. Reverse SpeaD will tell me the mechanical parameters along with the necessary motor force to achieve this. Then using that information I use SpeaD to design the motor. Once I have the motor parameters designed I use FEMM (2d magnetics modeler) to verify saturation and motor force, and heat saturation and flow with the help of Mathcad. Once that's done I use Infolytica's "Magnet" (3D software) to design things like motor cooling. This software allows you to input parameters of the softparts and power, ect to get a good idea how the motor will operate in the real world. When it comes to soft parts I use LoudSoft's FineCone, which I haven't applied yet. None of my custom softparts will be available till late this year.
  18. Got a start on the box today looks like I will have just enough room for all the fiberglass panels. Amps will go in the back. Batteries will be mounted under the box. The fusing will be built into the fiberglass panel by the rear passenger door. (for some reason I can't hit enter to space down to the next line so pics In next post)
  19. The first time you see someone beat another over the head with a brick for a bag of rice. Or see people dump out $5,000 barrels of vegetable oil onto the ground so they can use it to hold water you learn people in other countries have very different priorities.
  20. We live in a capitalist market. It's the same for gas, eggs, milk, and bologna. It's worth what people are willing to pay for it.
  21. PAC also makes an aftermarket Bluetooth that hooks up to any factory or aftermarket headunit. You could spice the phone to the speaker and mic wires on it and still be able to Bluetooth your phone.
