"Breaking In" of Subs.
They will break in hower if take a new sub with a 1500 watt rms rating and a 30 min xmax. That sub is designed to cool the coil with cone movement. If you are putting 1500 watts to that new sub and it is only moving 15mm how effectively is the sub cooling the coil. This isn't the case for every driver and who really plays their system full tilt ALL the time? So there shouldn't be a problem. But I believe in Murphy's Law.

"Breaking In" of Subs.
Breaking in a normal sub can change t/s parameters up to 10 percent. Anybody that has any experience wit IA DP's can tell a noticeable difference of both stiffness and cone movement on power after they have been played with recommended power over a period of time, Aka breaking them in.

Sub Comparison
Why is the xcon and BL even being compared for loudness. This is like comparing a BL and a N2 BTL for loudness. These two drivers are two different "levels" of drivers.

2-12inch SA12D4 and a SAZ1000
You'd never know the difference unless you are chasing numbers.

Any resin that you will find retail will not help airflow b/c 99% of all resins have a wax additive to make it easier to sand. The wax will make for more surface tension than the mdf unless of course you sand the piss out of it. As for doing it for strength, resin will decrease the tensil strength of MDF because it causes the fibers to swell and separate before the resin cures.

I have never used anything on the inside of my seams however the tools I use allow me to cut perfectly straight cuts so I never have gaps. If needed I would use liquid nails over caulk. Reason being wood is a porous material and will hold moisture. Caulk being a rubber will not. This will cause the caulk to seperate from the woodunder extremely high humidity conditions. This won't happen with the liquid nails.

Open for business! 1800woofers.com
I would highly recommend calling Brian Schmitt and putting his install tools and supplies on the site. There is no one that offers quality install products to the DIY'ers

Don't ever use silicon in a box. Caulk is ok but not silicon. It uses the same chemical compound used in foam surrounds. The fumes that it expels can cause surrounds to deteriate. Kinda like mixing paint thinner with paint, they both use the same base so it breaks down the paint.

Hot glue never failed in several hundred that I've built.

Nice job for a DIY'er. It does however irk the piss out of me when people runs their wires through the port. Besides that, clean job.

Two 15' Dcon vs One 15' Icon
What vehicle do you have. I will more than likely know if it'll fit or not
-
SSA ICON 12' vs SSA XCON 12'
We can't tell you if it'll be loud enough for you. We can however say you will not find another woofer in it's price range with the same output and clearity.
-
SSA ICON 12' vs SSA XCON 12'
You will get the same quality sound from each driver. Think of the icon as a v6 mustang and the xcon as a v8. Basically the same machine however the xcon will provide more output being it has more motor force and xmax, but like the v8 it'll take a little more gas (power) to get the extra output.

Very Interesting
Maybe it's comic relief but if you touch the biblical looking fellow with the sheep it links to Charles Darwin.

Ok, so I am going to be painting my Yukon
I love satin just make sure proper flatting agent is used so you can still buff the finish. White would be cheaper if you stay with the same base coat color. Around here a proper color change costs some $$$$. A buddy of mine just had a Tahoe painted satin blue, entire truck was stripped to the chassis minus the drive train(fire wall and all was painted). it set him back about 15 grand.
