  1. Test cut using a jpg Mark sent me and the cheap vinyl that came with the cutter. Came out pretty good considering the low quality of the jpg I can cut up to 13 x 49 inches with the plotter.
  2. Drivers dropped off at packaging company for custom tooled packaging. End goal is to survive 6 foot drop test. I'll update when saples are complete.
  3. All volumes are net. You will find in most instances the volume of the port will exceed the net volume of the chamber itself.
  4. getting time to plant some more Mirai. Gonna plant about an acre this year

  6. The Primo is the exact same thing as the UL but with 25mm Xmax. For $1,000 retail I can get around 45mm one way Xmax. And take 4,000 watts rms. This will require a 3.5 inch coil with 8 layer windings. Torque forces caused by the difference in heat variations on a 8 layer coil that big would cause the windings to unravel. The best option to overcome this is to do inner and outter edge windings on the former. Unfortunately there is only one factory in the world that can do this and their MOQ is out of my budget. So in the mean time I'm gonna have some kick ass raw tweeters, midbass, and midrange drivers built.
  7. Waves in the ocean don't move water. Ocean waves move up and down. I had to.
  8. Because 99.999999% of those boxes you see are NOT bandpass enclosures. Calculate a box with 8 15's in it with a front chamber of say 10 cubic feet with a port say 24 x 24 inches. It's gonna be crazy long. But look at how blows box and his is only one foot long. why? Because it's NOT a bandpass box. All he did was put his drivers in a sealed box and put a loading wall in front of the subs and create a wind tunnel with the small opening the subs have to play through. Joe Blow would have been better off with a regular ported box.
  9. It's similar to the Magnetar you played with but with slightly less Xmax to match the soft parts and adds more BL and efficiency.
  10. No, it will be rated around 3k rms. The soft parts will allow it to go to 40mm safely. In order for the 15" driver to move 35mm one way in its recommended box it will need right around 3k. This is the safe point for the coil. Any more Xmax and it would run into thermal issues. The motor's BL curve is different than any other ever produced. Not including fringe field BL percentage is as followed: 0-20mm is 100% BL 20-40mm tappers from 100-66.6% BL. So it's supper efficient through most of its stroke and is "linear" to 40mm with only a 50mm long coil.
  11. Oh forgot... The Trident will be available in 12, 15, and 18 The Encore 10, 12, 15, and 18 The Primo 10, 12, 15, and 18 All baskets including the 18 will be 12 spokes.
  12. Two new drivers coming this fall. 1) Trident. The first transducer ever brought to market with three gaps. With an Re or 1.6 and a BL of 20.75 it will be one of the stoutest 3 inch non neo driver on the market. Coupled with a moving mass about 25% less than the competition the efficiency rating will be fantastic. Plus due to the fact it is MMAG it will regain nearly all its BL all the way to 35mm one way xmax it will has less power compression that just about any driver on the market. 2) The Encore, aka the Ethos's little brother, 1,000 watt 20mm one way xmax. And I know everyone wanted the Primo to be available this fall. Well that's not gonna happen. After looking at the price to performance against the Encore I decided to scrap the original idea of the Primo. And make it a Neo driver. It will now be a 25mm xmax 1000 watt driver that will weigh somewhere around 15 pounds. I have samples of this driver on the way and if all is well it will be available the first of 2015. Estimated MAP will be around $350 for the 15 version. Below is a sketchup of all the motors together. The proprietary cooling on all of the motors have been deleted. All motors are to scale. The Trident is 11 inches OD and weighs about 80 pounds. The Primo on the right is about 4 inches OD and weighs about 8 pounds.
  13. These are for official Team members only. Not for resale. If team members wish to add their other sponsors that will be up to them.
  14. "Team DSS" will be going on the back. "Direct Sound Solutions" on the right chest and the competitor's name above the pocket.
  15. Terminate the end of the port equal and opposite of the first port wall. For example if the top is 15 inches and the bottom is 10 inches then make the end of the port 5 inches shorter at the top causing the port end to be angled.
  16. I am being told all current drivers will ship this week along with your replacement. Stuff happens but I can't micro manage these types if issues when they are being built 300 miles away from me. If I currently had all my parts with me I would have been able to have a brand new driver sent out the same day. I am also working with a local certified packaging manufacture that tells me they will be able to certify the packages per UPS's 6 foot drop test.
  17. Yes, the enclosure will be attached to the door panel. If you look at the door pic above you can see where the bottom of the umbrella pocket is attached. I will remove the pocket and the enclosure will fill that void and will flow onto the door panel and will attach to the "mounting ring" for the driver. I'll more than likely put some type of caulk between the "joint" between the enclosure and "speaker ring". Still not quite sure where I want the port mount to be though.
  18. After staring at the doors for about an hour I think I am going to do something simple. The factory grill will be routed out . The speaker will be mounted on the door and a trim ring will be made. The trim ring will be either the same color or slightly lighter in color as the door panel. The trim will have a 1mm gap between the door panel and about 3mm gap between the surround and about 5mm taller than the surround. The idea is to keep it as seamless and factory looking as possible.
  19. Froze my ass off today. Got down to 45 with a 40mph wind
  20. Port paint is drying on the test box. 1 cft tuned to 32 hertz
  21. Everything on this driver is open tooled. I just have to tool dustcaps with my logo on them. Any tooling for the Ethos line would be cosmetic as the current parts used are compliant to the motor's capability.
