  1. Don't use 32mm Xmax to calculate port area. Use 23.5mm which is the coil overhang of the driver. Coil overhang is the definition of Xmax per Richard Small which who's formula is used in that calculator to estimate port area.
  2. Ford seems to be putting that Aston Martin look to their whole line up. But if it got upwards of 450-500 hp I'd buy it if price is reasonable.
  3. Speaking of horsepower. Anyone read the info on the new Gen Mustangs? The GT is gonna have more hp than this years and the ability to fit a 9.5 tire stock with the new rear end. Might make for a nice high horse DD if they don't want an arm and a leg.
  4. Be best to start a build log to insure everything is done right.
  5. Check out Thompson Motorsports for an LQ9 shortblock. No need for the longblock unless you want to swap in LS3 cylinder heads for higher compression, but on a FI (forced induction) engine your wouldn't want that.Just send it to WoodHouse and let Mark work his magic. Just think of it as money. You can always make more.
  6. Too much input can fry the amp if it doesn't have a protection circuit.
  7. No, it's akin to having the volume knob turned to a low level on the head unit. Most amps have a range starting around ~.9 volts so in theory you'd be able to get close to full output from the amp since you would be at ~.6 volts.
  8. I would run 3 if you only run a 5,500 and only if you can get 5,500 watts on the odd ohm load. If you can't get the full 5,500 with an odd ohm load or if you run two 3,500 I'd definantly run 4. No problem helping with the box design. Would not be worth it to build it for you as something that large would need to be freighted.
  9. They had a Chinese place around here that got shut down bc if that.
  10. A milliamperes is one thousands of am amp. The PAC piece increases by a factor of ten. So you'd be at 6 tenths of an amp if I figured in my head correctly?
  11. The 12 volt one is accurate. It is with in a few decimal places compared to when I do it by hand. I use it for all my enclosures as it's quicker.
  12. Mainly the smells and the texture. That 'fishy' smell or the smell of tuna turnes my stomach a bit and kills any interest in it. I have had fried haddock, large mouth bass and cod in the past and that with a shit ton of lemon and a beer batter is ok at best. J Grilled swordfish? Soak the fish in milk over night. It'll kill the fishy flavor and won't destroy the meat texture. Being from Louisiana we eat a ton of seafood. And the family does quite a bit if deep sea fishing in the gulf.
  13. Only is they are boiled in crab boil. None of that steamed shit down here. If you had bigger crabs....Dungenous (sp?). And go to the Florida keys every August for lobster season. Eat several warm water lobsters a month boiled in crab boil. I needs a little flavor in my food.
  14. They have a few casinos in the Biloxi Ms area that have some decent crab legs on their buffet. Definable worth the 25 bucks.
  15. Only is they are boiled in crab boil. None of that steamed shit down here.
  16. The sub stage in this one is just a basic single 15 ported box wrapped in carpet and bolted to the bed of the truck. The foldable panel will be removed via the few bolts that hold the hinge to the floor. A wooden panel will be made to go in its place with a woofer cutout to match up to the cut out in the box. Then the sub will be mounted to both the panel and enclosure. This will leave a few inches between the rear of the seat and the sub.
  17. In an avalanche? Both subs and port forward. I'm gonna be doing a very basic instal in ine this weekend. I'll post pics to give you an idea.
  18. Two 15 inch Ethos 32 wide x 38 deep x 18 tall tuned to 32 hertz
  19. The 1,800 watt rating is not a thermal rating. It is the rms power needed to drive them to Xmax (32.5 mm) in a 3 cft box tuned to 32 hertz. As with any sub/box combination this will vary. However this is the median rating needed for the recommended enclosures. If you were to use 5500 watts on 4 then you can expect the drivers to reach ~25mm one way. So 4 x 25mm = 100mm 3 x 32.5mm = 97.5mm This is IF you can get the full 5,500 watts with an odd ohm load with the three subs.
  20. I've got a voice coil issue on a headphone siminar around here somewhere. If I can find it I'll scan and upload it.
  21. Keep her goin man!!! The thoughts and prayers are continuing!!! J My ole lady as some of you might know is deaf and has always had vertigo issues due to inner ear problems. And pressure caused by exertion will make her dizzy. C-section will be the only option for her as she will not be able to push. The Dr actually said a c-section is actually better for the baby.
  22. I've been a dealer for IA for nearly six years and have not had a lick of problem or returns on any of them. I currently have a buddy running 3 20.1's that are mounted on th box and have had no issues. The amps have very strick protection circuits and will make the amps shut off if you get much below one ohm. I have ran burps on two strapped at one ohm repeatedly and they have protected and still work fine. This is to keep you from letting them go up in smoke. Nick Wright owner of IA is also my OEM supplier and I do/will run all IA amps in my personal demo vehicles. Unlike some smaller underground companies Nick actually has a lot if input in the design of his amps. And unlik other Korean made amps that go to one factory to piece together amps he actualy has 4 or 5 contacts to find, select, and utalize the best components to his liking. Besides the product being top notch the customer survive is also excellent. I deal with them on a weekly basis and Tricia, the receptionist/order handler normal always answers phone messages within 24hr if not within a few minutes depending on their workload.
