  6. enclosure for (4)15's 3 cubic feet per sub tuned to 32 hertz external dimensions: 46" wide x 40" deep x 19" tall
  7. This is the place for any Ethos enclosure designs and specs
  8. Any time to put this on a TL or better yet some vids?
  9. ......
  10. All info on the 12 inch Ethos will be located here. Still working on large signal parameters. For now here are the physical dimensions of the driver.
  11. PRICING ADDED TO THE TOP FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE FACEBOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. .............................................
  13. Good thing I only drive 1,000 miles a year and it's still under warranty.
  14. You won't find anyone with a coil to fit it. And they wouldn't be able to order just a few precision wouldn't do it as making a handful especially something this size in small quantities. For reference this coil cost me 75 bucks so if you add the typical 100-150 percent mark up you will be spending at least $150 on just the coil even if they could get their hands on a couple. Besides the fact you won't gain anything but looks as the typical parts being used don't offer anymore throw. My soft parts have been over 40mm outward with no physical damage. This has been confirmed with a klippel analyzer. Besides once you get past 30mm the motor starts running out of motor strength with spl coil. The daily coil offers about 55mm one way. But proper baskets and softparts are still at least a year away to utilize the full 55mm one way linear throw. spl coil has a 50mm winding length the spl has a 95mm lond winding length
  15. Parameters are found here: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/60471-ethos-15-parameters-and-klippel-graphs/ 12 inch sub weighs about 60 pounds. Size, if you mean physical OD, is 8 inch. Actual CMS Klippel (yes I actually test and post my Klippel results) graph can be found in the link. The coil is aluminum. dual 2 and dual one ohm. I am still working on getting all this info together. I get a little bid of A.D.D. and take on too many projects at one time. The 12 inch version is going out for klippel testing this week however the 15 was spot on with FEA so the projected 1.5 cubic foot enclosure tuned to 32hz should be the mean recommended enclosure. By the way I use warm large signal theile small parameters rather than the normal "small" signal as "large" signal is a more accurate representation of the transducer. You will see that Re rises to over 6 ohms when warm. This is typical of all transducers however for reference this is a dual two ohm sub and should be wired as so. Also if you run DB drag you can see the power compression graph and see power compression on the sub is only about 2.25 DB
  16. man, you really do awesome work assembling drivers.
  17. Welcome aboard. We love new peeps around here!
  18. Boy I wish. I've been working with the help of Pat Turnmire (my transducer engineer go to guru and klippel tester) and Nick Wright (my supplier and build house) for nearly two years on the Ethos and several other samples that are waiting for assembly and testing. And I'm still working on getting a few final Large Signal parameters and other nic-nak stuff published.
  19. well I know the Ethos performs thanks to Jon's review and it is in stock and the Magnetar is just in proto stage. And the Magnetar and the Ethos are two different monsters. I personally would not play the magnetar daily its just not designed to musically. The huge motor force will create a massive ripple in response around tuning. But some like that type of sound, there are plenty of guys that are running other "SPL" subs daily on music. Only time will tell how it performs. It's extremely hard to model something like this or get a general idea of what will happen because nothing this strong (that any of my contacts are aware of) has been done.
  20. If all goes well, and I am able to find some with ample power to abuse it for a month or so (I know a guy that knows a guy that has a NS1 in a Lincoln) I will do a special pre-order group buy for the first 50 drivers at a REALLY low price compared to the competition. IF I am able to get 50 drivers pre-sold by the end of January then I'd expect them to be shipping to customers for June.
  21. 12's my friend will work. The motor is 1/4 inch shy of a 12 inch cut out.
  22. It's kinda like saying you have to floor a Dodge Viper to get the big 13 inch wide tires to spin over. For reference the motor force to moving mass ratio on the Ethos is ~1 to 2.8. The motor force to moving mass of the Magnetar will be in the neighborhood of ~3 to 1. To put that back into the Viper analogy it would be equivalent to a ~10,000 horse viper. If we are able to get ten hard spiders on the sub which I doubt, it will take ~5,000 watts rms to push the cone 30mm one way in a 3 cubic foot box tuned to 60 hertz. The 1w/1m sensitivity rating should be around 102 db. This is it coned to a 15. 10 hard spiders is equivalent to needing to set nearly 100 pounds to move the cone 10mm one way. A 300 pound guy could literally stand on the cone and not bottom the coil out.
