  2. Clamp tests for burping purposes are perfectly fine as long as the meters used are accurate and all controls are measured and found to be the same. Controls are things like tone being played, sing all input voltage, power input voltage, enclosure and placement in vehicle. As long as the co trolls are the same for each transducer then you can accurately calculate results. He is using two different impedance drivers therefore one of them will be recieving double the power. Now if the amplifier was adjusted so that wattage output was the same on each driverthen there would be no problem. But that wasn't done. As far as clamp tests for rating an RMS rating on an amp no it is not physically possible with a couple of clamp and DM meters. Just because "this is all you have" don't make it right to assume its ok to do. I can't speak for anyone else here but you can look at just about any of my posts here and not find theroritical rhetoric. I work with three of the top acoustical transducer engineers in the world to ensure so.
  3. Basic 4th grade scientific method. If the controls in the experiment are not constant or there is no way to insure the controls are constant the the results of the testing are inconclusive. And a Termlab is not an accurate DB meter it is only consistent which is why it is used.
  4. Because there are proper ways of testing and we try to keep inaccurate testing away from here so uneducated people don't repeat what they assume to be accurate. His test could be valid and helpful for his particular vehicle and system set up but the same power wasn't even applied to the drivers. There are far better tools to figure out what driver is louder or better for a given set of variables.

  6. turbo supercharged diesels have been around a couple of years.
  7. So the vehicle was on your property? Why isn't homeowners covering this?
  8. Lifting weights help maintain bone mass which is reduced by age.
  9. Yea, already talked to Nick several times. Gonna be using 10 of the 80.1's in an Astro.
  10. Need some of them new amplimafiers
  11. skip to 2:00 and watch Dan green lift. That is nearly identical to how I hold the bar.
  12. not if your knees are out like they are suppose to be.
  13. I think he was a bit high, (high as in not squatting far enough down) but form was perfect. I set the bar a couple inches lower than he does.
  14. If you and nick will tighten up I might make it up that way. Expecting to go to gatlinburg around that time anyway.
  15. They got plenty of super heavy weights capable of getting their ass down far enough. I'm sure it's possible.
  16. Take that tutorial with a grain of salt. He obviously doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. 1. You'll never find a professional powerlifter with the bar on their neck like that. 2. In order for a squat to be legal the top of the thigh must be parallel or below the top of the knee. Not 6 inches above like in his pictures.
  17. Talked to Pat today. Testing will begin today or tomorrow.
  18. Box is about as big as I can go with it and still get it in there. I thought it may have been the remaining trunk space after the box was in there was my problem. When the box is in its a tight fit all around. Passage space for air to travel to the front of the car is very little. I threw a single 12 enclosure in there and had the same problem.this is not always the case. my ethos in the same size box 3 feet tuned to 32 for the 15 has a flat response with a F3 of ~28. In the same size box tuned to 36 it gets ~3db gain from 30-50 with an f3 of ~29. going with a larger box with same tuning only results in a bigger peak at tuning frequency, not any more lower extension.Large and low tuned to get that big peak down low.. Guess you didn't understand the post.

  20. not sure about the eq on that head unit. The only way the info will be helpful is if you know the free air out put of the box. So you would first measure the enclosure out of the vehicle to get a base reading. (this is much easier to do with a sealed enclosure that has a flat response)Then come base the open space reading with the reading in the car to see how the car is affecting output.
  21. http://www.parts-express.com/term/dayton-emm-6?srch=Dayton+EMM-6 Those are pretty cheap units. If the RTA showed a loss in response form 30-50 then you have two choices. EQ all the ripples (peaks) down to the level of 30-50 hertz output. Or build an enclosure with an increased ripple at those areas to compensate.
  22. Some type of rta or db meter that will allow you to play a sound sweep to see ripples in response.
  23. It's obvious transfer function is affecting output. Only way to know how to work with it is measure the responses in each vehicle.
