  1. I'm at a standstill waiting on parts for my Matrix so I decided to start a small install in my Civic. I'm not sure what the entire system will be but the sub will be a 10 inch MMAG sample that is on it's way. It'll be mounted in the the rear deck in a .4 cubic foot sealed enclosure. Sub Parameters: Re 2.06 ohms Fo 34.77 hertz Qts .4755 Qes .5101 Qms 7 Vas 10.56 liters BL 17.2 T/M xmax 22.5mm (over hang method) Mms 333.6 grams Cms 62.8 uM/N SPL 81.25 1W @ 1M I'm starting off making a copy of the rear deck that will be modified to become the bottom of the enclosure. It'll be 6 layers of two ounce chopped strand mat by the time it's finished. Notice that I always use one solid piece when possible.

  3. The entire though process behind this is stupid. People are using these tools to set gains without distortion. It's doesn't matter even if Wiily Wonka and Dr. Emmett Brown got together and used Sean's 250k scope and triple checked it with the vibrio meter to match the gain to the amps .5 THD rating. Evening if the source voltage or content never changed. Speakers are rated at 10% distortion and subs are rated at 20%. Distortion. BC YOU CAN NOT HEAR THE DISTORTION until this point. So why in the hell are people worried about setting gains for no distortion or 1, 2, 5%. It makes no difference.
  4. Kiss detail goodbye on landscape shots then. I just shot a ton of pictures that are soft where I wouldn't want them to be. That's the good thing about newer cameras. You can manually adjust metering and focal points while shooting

  7. I studied photography for several years in school (was in gifted visual arts for 10 years) and learned how to develop negatives, b&w, and color. I've forgot more than 50 percent of what I learned. But I just prefer to let the Nikon do its thing and use active matrix focusing rather than having to wiry about F stop. I find it more enjoyable for me than to have to worry about technical details when I'm out and about.

  14. It's just personal preference. Some people like pioneer 5 ways. It's whatever floats their boat or they are to ignorant to know otherwise. Nothing wrong with any wrote taken as your the one who will be listening to it. No one can guess what you will like.
  15. It doesn't matter who is tuning the system. You can't make chicken soup out of chicken shit. What you are doing is comparable to buying a transmission for vehicle you don't know what engine is in it. No one can decide anything until specifications are published.
  16. Don't calculate with the published xmax. Calculate with 25mm which is the approximate coil overhang.
  17. I'd be Leary of any driver that doesn't have any posted specs or prices. Or they don't list specs bc they are custom built to order. Transducer design doesn't work that way.
  18. Pull THE carpet panel out and remove your back speakers. You don't need them anyway.
  19. Going from the shit you had before to a high output sub is going to be a night and day difference. If you face the subs back in a big box with no space for air to circulate it'll be like donkey kong is beating the piss out of ur trunk. You want then to face forward. No need to seal off you'll never hear the difference if you did.
  20. Get some cardboard and make the largest box that u can slide into the trunk. You will want to face th subs forward.

  22. I like M5's 6th order idea. The ability to a few db's of boost over the passband and still have a lower f3 in the 20's.
