  1. Lol, I don't. Who's grandma's hands are on it? Yours or mine?
  2. So modest. I bet you're chompin at the chance to go and tear everyone's heads off with that new wall of yours. Truth? I'm a little nervous. This is my first wall. First huge system, and a new car with no real testing time. Bwahahahahaha! Nothing to be nervous about bro. Just turn every knob up to eleven and watch the heads roll. Win, win. See you there.

  4. Who's going? What ya bringing? What class you competing in? Onebadmonte, 2004 Suburban running a warhorse and a pair of 9515s. Gonna run in the Modified SQ+ -1 Hope to see you there!
  5. Looks cool. Definitely gonna be a wall to be reckoned with.
  6. Looking good. Congrats on the new sub. With all the equipment you got there lying around looks as if it's time for you to start your build log. Good luck and keep us posted on how everything works out for you.
  7. Well fellas I got the setup all buttoned up and finished last night. I did an initial smoke test and everything past. To play it save I turned the gain down a whisker and adjusted the power output from "Full Tilt" to 75%. I popped in my flavor of the month song "World Wide Chopper" by the ever lovable Techn9ne and gave it a whirl. I set the volume on my Alpine at 20 and gave it a listen. I've never been a fan of the intro of this song. The first couple bass hits and the explosion there after sound like crap. It sounded like crap with the DD, and they sound like crap with the JBLs. :\ Following the explosion, there is about 1 minute and 20 seconds worth of higher bass tones, 40-50hz stuff I'd say, but never measured. The tones in the song are in little burst. The JBLs rang them out with authority. Feel it in the back of your head stuff. Output wise they are on par with the DDs. The JBLs really sounded good. There is a slight pause with the bass in the song. Then comes the good stuff, a plethora of lowwww bass tones. I'm guessing stuff in the low 20hz up to mid 30hz. The DDz would shake everything, like grab you by the shoulders and give you a good shaking even at this low level. The JBLs came short of this, I mean you could feel it in the eardrums but not in the seat backs. They got after it, but not in the violent ways that the DDs do. No meter scores to report just yet, but they will be down for sure. I'm gonna jam to some Spoon on the way home and see how they do. That's more of what I listen to on a day to day basis.
  8. 2 amps isn't going to do any harm. I run 2 amps across my tongue in the morning just to get the day started. With the charger set to charge AGM batteries, I don't think it'll charge over 14.7 volts. Now we're talking. How long did you charge them for at this amperage? And the batteries haven't ballooned or lost capacity? That's interesting. Thanks for all the good info fellas.
  9. Now there's a thought. Will ply wood and some Loctite PL 375 out do some of these cheaper deadener sheets?
  10. LOL! I was waiting till someone posted that. I figured a little spin on the topic title would get some laughs since I was trying to get the subs to blend with the mid-bass. I think that's what makes it an AGM charger, it doesn't go over 14.7 volts. My big DieHard charger doesn't have an AGM option. I haven't checked to see what voltage it charges at either so I can say it goes over 14.7 volts, but I'm pretty sure it does. I have looked at other chargers and have seen where they explicitly say not for AGM batteries. I am curious to hear what amp rating some are using on their AGM batteries?
  11. A little bit of shadowing around the Sound Solutions Audio banner and a little angling of the the SSA reflection will give that logo some nice 3-D pop. Good work.
  12. From what the Deka dealer told me when I bought my batteries, charging at these higher voltages will cause excess gas to build up inside the battery. Since they are sealed batteries the gas will balloon the case and short the plates. They will not warranty a battery if it's been ballooned. There is even a label on my Dekas stating do not exceed 14.7 volts when charging. In the case of high voltage/low amperage vs low voltage/high amperage what best for charging a sealed AGM battery? Right now I'm playing super safe as I don't want to ruin $1200 worth of batteries. At the same time I don't want to waste all day running back and forth to the charger to make sure everything is fine. I was hoping just setting the XP charger overnight will have the bank nicely charged and ready for a show.
  13. 5000w peak O_o Thanks. Interesting. I looked into some of those Schumacher chargers, and even the big DieHard charger I've got. The consensus was that at some point they'll charge at over 14.7 volts causing too much gas build up in sealed batteries. Thanks I dig the way it looks too. Might even be able to gather more attention than some of those scandaley clad bikini girls as some of the shows. As for the jackers..... For what it's worth the tint is pretty dark on the Suburban. If any thing I'll just throw a blanket over them when parked some where, so you cant see what's under there. We can only do so much. :\ Back to work
  14. Looks like fun, congrats on the new toy. Now go make sum moar monies.
  15. That's what she said. Looks good Buddy. Actually , looks pretty badass with the subs inverted and that monster amp. Lol. Thanks fellas. Since I'll possibly be losing a little bit of out put I figure I'd go full tilt on the WOW factor and go the invert sub mount. Here are some real pics of what the finished product will look like. WOW! Here is an over the shoulder look towards the rear. Third row seats are hiding all the bling. Lets try that shot again with the third row seat folded down. Much better.
  16. Dang bro, that some luck, two broken chargers. I ran this one on a Deka Intimidator and it seemed fine. I had a volt meter on it just in case. It started out at 14.4, after an hour and a half it was down to 14.0, which seems on part with what the manual said it would do. The battery was on the charger for about 3 hours, but I never got the fully charged green light. The Deka was at 12.4 before I got it on the charger. None the less, brand and model number of the one you got a Pep Boys for $50. I want to check it out for myself. Naw, just a little something for chits and giggles. They are about as different as they come. Wait for the clear pic of them invert mounted, along with the Warhorse, this should gather some attention. We'll see. I'm getting a little antsy waiting to finish it off and get it going.
  17. Chit, that sux. What happend? I'm just curious to see how the JBLs will sound. I've got a pair in my home setup and they rock. I think with a little cabin gain they'll be just as loud and sound cleaner. Blend better with the mid-bass.
  18. Wow, even more interesting. I'm just wondering how intelligent this intelligent charger really is. I mean will another charger confuse it and think the batteries are fully charged or cause it to go nuts? Waiting to here what XS Power has to say about the matter. It'd be cool as heck if I could just hook up the pair of chargers without having to divide the bank of batteries. This charger is a 15 amp unit for those wondering.
  19. That's pretty interesting man. I'm gonna inquire about it to XS Power and see what they would have to say about it. Thanks for the info. 04 Chevy Suburban
  20. The Double Deez are out, no porno. :\ Now I'm gonna try a pair of JBL w15GTi's. If you missed the original build feel free and check it out here. Worst build ever! This is a straight drop in replacement, so things might not work out as planned. We'll just have to see what happens. I'm not looking to get louder, just looking for a cleaner sound Lets get started with some disassembly pics. Dang these fhawkers are heavy! A little side by side action. Those JBLs are wild looking fo sho! Side by side looking down at the cones. The DD have the edge on this one with the carbon fiber dust caps. With the tall-n-narrow surrounds the DD also look bigger. I ran out of daylight before I could get them wired up but here is a teaser shot of the finished product. Muahahahahahah! On a side note here is a pic of a little something I picked up to maintain the batteries. I'm probably gonna have to get a second charger, because one to charge and maintain 8 batteries is going to take forever. Going with a second charger will also require me to modify the battery bank wiring. I need to figure a way to split the bank to a pair banks, one for each charger. Any recommendations? Discuss.
  21. I'm sorry to hear you are going through this. All the hard work.

X2. Go for broke and tune at 28Hz. Also, once you have your setup up and running conduct some test to make sure you're getting the most from your setup. Drop off a buddy a couple of blocks away and play your setup full blast while alternating opening windows. Your ride will be like a quasi-6th order band pass enclosure. Effing high tech mang. Remember to conduct neighborhood surveys as well. Once you've driven through at full tilt, go back and ask residents how loud was your setup. Have them rate you loudness on a scale of 1- "Yes I could hear it inside my house", 5- " I could feel the bass inside my house" to 10 "Shit was falling off the shelves it was so damn loud!" Remember extra points are given if priceless family heirlooms fall and break. For clarification purposes: No, those stupid "Precious Moments" statues do not qualify as family heirlooms. Remember, be loud, be proud, and thanks for fucking up our hobby areshole!
