  1. Well I dropped them an e-mail just to see what they'd say. They responded promptly, and answered my questions. They even pushed their latest product. It seems they have their stuff together. The USB Bass meter seems pretty straight forward. It plugs directly into the pc. Open the software, which is included in a disc along with some test tone, and bam, your ready to measure. No calibrating required. Which is what I like about it. I'm not keen on what sensor they are using for the USB Bass meter. They do mention a Panasonic mic capsule for their stand alone LCD Display bass meter. The last time I read about using one of these capsules to make your own measuring mic was for the measuring software HOLMImpulse. Which got me thinking. Another software you can use this capsule on is ARTA which is similar to HOLMImpulse. Funny thing is, all three come from the same part of the world, eastern Europe/Russia. I wonder if they are connected in any way? Any who, coming back down to reality. All the mentioned programs are good at what they do, no doubt. My issue is one needs to know what they are doing. Especially when calibrating sound cards and measuring mic. Some thing I am not good at. Hence my search. With easter coming up I am putting my search on pause for the weekend. I'll shoot off some more e-mails and see if I take the plunge. Post your thoughts, and lets see what we come up with. Cheers
  2. I'm thinking about. Just hate to throw money away.
  3. I'm all for measuring. The ear isn't quite cutting. There are many alternatives, believe me, I've used, tried and experimented with. Some of them are free, with save limitations. All of them are complicated with all sorts of calibration requirements and so-forth. Not to mention the mics and external sound cards add up quickly. I'd like something simple and fast. I dig the term-lab but the cost to play is serious. I came across this alternative . It looks promising. I did a quick search here and saw it's been mentioned a couple of times here and there with no real follow up. I'd like to hear the community's thoughts on something like this. If some one has one, please share your experience.
  4. Funny you should mention that man Hugo was talking about that same exact thing this past weekend Holy smokes, everytime I look this planet is getting smaller and smaller.
  5. What kind of meter is he using?
  6. Again excellent work. What are your plans on finishing the mdf with? Are you going to paint it or upholster it?
  7. Nice box. Looks good and rigid. How does it sound?
  8. I stand corrected. A big thanks to Inkfx.
  9. Thanks everyone. I got the system metered today. Big thanks to CadillacMatt and BigJon for making it happen. Providing eyewitness testimonial, Inkfx. He was there as well, at what I will be referring to as the Last Minute South Texas Mini Meet. Read about it here. The score, 135.8 somewhere in between 25Hz and 35Hz using a sweep from 1Hz to 60Hz. All the windows were closed, the driver side door was open and the meter was in the passenger side kick. I'm totally pleased with it. Granted in not a ground pounder like the other guys there, but for 480 watts I say not too shabby. As soon as I can get the pics off my phone I'll post the score. Thanks to everyone at the get together. It was lots of fun. Great music with good people.
  10. It was a fun get together. Kind of last minute, but that's the only way they work out. Big thanks to Matt for putting it together and inviting. Big thanks to BigJon for the term-lab time and coming out. I'm totally pleased with my 135.8 in the kick, all windows closed and driver side door open. I did it on a sweep from 1Hz to 60Hz. The peak was in the low 30's could be in the high 20's, not sure. Viva infinite baffle. Ha ha. It's good meeting you, Inkfx. Can't wait till next time.
  11. Excellent build. I can't wait to hear you impression on the sound. I dig the car. Clean and classy.
  12. Hey, I know where that is. Ha ha. That's funny.
  13. It's not air tight. The rear deck gets covered with the factory trim on the cabin side. It's just a piece of 1/4" fiberboard with carpeting on it. It covers up the openings in the rear deck. It seems to get the job done. Your build sounds interesting. I'd like to know how it turns out. I'm eyeing the IB3's as well. Yes these subs are IB capable. With a resistor on the second coil, they'll also work in ported and sealed enclosures as well. Very novel if you ask me.
  14. True I heard bread loaves and other baked goods have a natural resonating frequency of 30Hz which will improve the bass output by a minimum of 14.668 dB Yes, I personally prefer cupcakes, I think the strawberry-frosting ones improve my scores the most. Now we're talking.
  15. Thanks. This is probably the main reason why I went IB A weeks worth of groceries and still bumping. Ha ha.
  16. I will as soon as I find a meter. My best guess is 134 on music maybe a 136 on tones and heavy clipping. We'll see. That includes a trunk full of groceries. Hehe.
  17. Thanks everyone. LOL on getting it metered. I already got called out for making pointless flex vids of an IB system. Hehe. Up next will be some deadening material for the rear deck and the trunk lid. Till then thanks for looking. Cheers
  18. You should do it. At first I was kinda meh about doing it. I glad it did it. It helps out big time in the wow factor. I pop the trunk and people like the cleanliness. All the wires and crap confuse those who don't know what they are looking at. Plus no one likes wires all over the place in any car. I explain about the no box situation. Then I let them hear for themselves. The rest is history. There's nothing like taking pride in what you do.
  19. Fix it and sell it on craigslist. You'd be surprised what you can get for an econobox like that.
  20. I'm running for March 2010 System of The Month on the $MD forums. I'm asking all my fellow members here who are also a part of the $MD forum and those interested, to cast a vote for me. I have a build here documenting my progress. You can check it out HERE. I'm a fly-weight in a world of big box heavy-weights. If you can spare a moment of your time and help me out in my quest, that would be awesome. I'm looking to upgrade to some Fi IB3's and the Sundown amp would be a killer addition. Thanks for all your support. Best regards, onebadmonte
  21. Here is a quick video of my system in action. Let me know what you think.
  22. Thanks. I was a little worried about that fabric being a little funky, but I wanted something with some contrast. That way the subs stand out when the trunk is opened.
