  1. Augh! The box I quoted is for two SPL 12's. Opps! Sorry for the confusion. I was at the end of my break at work. Is there a recommended port area to box size ratio for the SPL 12? Thanks.
  2. I don't know if this info will work for you, here goes. Mark recommended 6ft^3 box with 65sq in of port area 18in long. That tuned to 35Hz. I've yet to build the box, but I like to know if a smaller box would work better.
  3. Thanks for the insight. Could you elaborate a little on the cooling short comings for a daily application? Specifically what would be the power limit. I'm running a DD M1 about 1200w @ 1ohm. Is that too much for one? I just want to out do my 10 year old JL 15w6's (2) without breaking the bank. Augh! One last Q. What would be the box requirements. Thanks. Sorry about the thread hijack. A thousand apologies to the thread author all the moderator gods. This forum is the best. Viva Fi Audio and the AA H2 Hummer. That beast rocks! Thanks
  4. Bummer man. I was really looking foward to reading about the out come. Can anyone at Fi Audio Guesstimate the performance of a reconed Konaki sub. I'm looking for a high out put daily sub on the cheap. Thanks.
  5. Sorry gents. I should have said my subs are in an infinite baffle setup. It just sounds a little weird from a grammar point of view. Any thoughts on the Fi sub making a noticeable difference versus the Atlas? Thanks.
  6. Yes they are. I'm happy with how they sound, but like many, I'm looking for a little more output without the box.
  7. I just read about this sub at audiojunkies. I've got a pair of AA Atlases running free air in my little creampuff, a 94 Olds Cutlass Cierra. I'm thinking of replacing them with these. Any thoughts? I'm running 150w to each of the Atlases, I'll be doing the same to these. http://www.audiojunkies.com/blog/866#continued Thanks
  8. Keep us posted on the results of your recone. I'm thinking of doing something similar, but keeping it a 12. Thanks.
  9. I got to sit in the H2 Thursday morning. It was nucking futs, to say the least. I was also in the Overhauling tent on friday when they were demoning the H2. It was hard to imagine that one could hear the H2 clearly over all that was going on in the tent. Especially knowing that the H2 was almost a football field away. My hat goes off to you guys. Thanks for the demo.
  10. Payment sent. Thanks.
  11. All we have right now is a vid Loyd made of the proto... Proto Vid Nucking Futs! Keep them coming. More pics, more vids, MUHAHAHAHA!!! How is production coming along? So, what's the price going to be after the pre-order?
  12. So, has production started on these bad boys? If so, can we see production line pics? Ha, Ha! How about pics of one of these wanging, better yet, how about a vid? Can't wait to put in my order. Cheers!
  13. Thanks for the shipping quote. Is there any way to get it shipped cheaper? Maybe if enough of us in the states get them you'd be willing to cross the border and ship them? Ha Ha! Seriously, how can I get a cheaper shipping rate? Should I buy two or four? Honestly, I wouldn't mind paying 25% over the cost of any single item in shipping, but nearly 40% gets tough to swallow. Don't get me wrong, it's a smoking deal, even at nearly $300 with shipping, I just want to know if there's a way to get cheaper shipping?
  14. I'm interested. What would shipping be to 78148 Universal City Texas. Thanks.
  15. So, what's the price?
  16. I miss the carbon fiber dust caps. None the less, cool woofers. I wonder how and what they compare to in Fi line up.
  17. I'm going, just as a lurker though. I am interested in seeing some Fi products in action though. I'll be the tall mexican wearing a white tee-shirt with the blue and red chevron strips, that reads Chingon. If you see me stop me and say hi. I don't have any prizes to give, but if anyone is interested I can give out a swift kick in the a$$. HA HA!
  18. I was hoping on using box requirements for each application to help me decide on which direction to go with these subs. Thanks. Well, for your car, I'd go as big as you can go with at least 1/3 SD for port area, tuning it to about 30. Even tuning higher up if you can't fit a very long port isn't going to be that bad as the Avalanches have a naturally heavy low end, and the high end is weaker. Might even it out a bit. Interesting, I've never heard of using a minimum of 1/3 SD for port area. What would be the maximum of SD to use for port area? Also, what would be the formula to figure out port length if I went this route? Thanks for the advise.
  19. I was hoping on using box requirements for each application to help me decide on which direction to go with these subs. Thanks.
  20. I picked that frequency because I have a pair of Tang Band eights tuned to that frequency and they do pretty good. If I can tune lower with the Ava, then I'd go with it. At home I'd use it more for movies than music.
  21. How much space do you have to work with in your car? The floor of the hatch area measures 36" wide and 30" from the rear of the car to the rear seat backs when the rear seats are up. If the rear seat is down then the length is about 52" from the rear of the car to the back of the front seat. The height goes like this, starting from the rear of the vehicle, the first 14" of length the box can be up to 11" in height. There after the box can go up to 14" in height. If I'm doing my math right, accounting for 3/4" MDF no bracing no nothing, from the numbers I listed @ the 52" length the box would be about 11-3/4 ft^3 at the 30" length the box would be 6-1/4 ft^3.

I've got a pair of Atlas 15's IB in a 95 Olds Cutlass Cierra. I'm putting about 300 watts to both of them. They sound really good, output isn't too impressive though. A high end 12 with a thousand watts is louder. From what I hear, subs + box = high output, sub in IB = a more natural bass, less output.
  23. I've got a pair of 15" Avalanche subs. I want to build a box, but I don't know what size it needs to be. I'm undecided on whether I'll be using them in my home or my car. My car needs a little work, that's why I'm undecided. Anyways to the good stuff. I want to go ported for either application. For the car I'm guessing a tuning frequency of 32 to 35Hz. For the house I'm thinking 28Hz. I'm open to suggestions. For power I've got two TMA 1000.1 in the car. Oh, by the way the ride is an 86 Mustang GT hatchback, the rear seat isn't used so it's folded down flat. The subs would be wired to 1 ohm each, one sub per amp. In the house I've got a Behringer EP2500. The subs would be wired 4 ohms each, one sub per channel. Thanks!
