Sacred's upcoming Bronco Build
Got the battery moved to the center console. All wired up to the relay Cleaned up the look of the wires with some shrink tubing Fuse going to the 2nd battery Temporary zip ties to hold the wire in place (I already have clamps) Ground going out of center console to the seat bolt Power for the soundstream going out I'm trying to retune the amps and head unit, the higher voltage cleaned up the bass, but at the same time something sounds a little funky. Maybe I'm just used to how it was before I'm not sure. I'm getting a tiny bit of a hum sometimes, so I'm gonna recheck the grounds. This is kinda progress for the new build because its laying the foundation for my electrical. Going to add another run 0/1 gauge, and some more batts. I don't really care about the current center console because I'm going to make a new one out of MDF, which is probably where one of the amps will go.

Old Rockford 15s
Considering the oldest sub I have is a 1st Gen Alpine type R, it seems old to me Yeah you never know when you might get the urge to just hook all of them up in your living room for some realistically loud explosions. I did check it cause I figured it would have done some damage without the spider, but the coil looked brand new, no rub or blemishes. Pretty surprising.

Old Rockford 15s
Thanks, Yeah I definitely had a good time today messing with these. Once he buys a new headunit we can finally listen to some decaf and see what they can really do. He actually is running that amp too, I'm trying to convince him to buy a 2000w amp to put on these if we fix them.

Old Rockford 15s
My friend Jhovani had 2 15in subwoofers in a blowthrough in his 1999 F150. Jhovani came over today and he asked me if we could put his box from his bed into his cab. So that's what we did.. Unscrewed the box from the mounts, cut the wire and freed the box. This build was done probably 10 years ago so the truck and the subs weren't in the greatest condition. The rattling from the truck and subs was horrendously loud from the interior and exterior. He always told me he thought he had some old 15in JBLs over the last year or so, which JBL makes some high quality subs so I figured they pretty nice. But it turned out they were the old Rockford Power HX2 15s as stated on the dustcap. Anyways once we got them in the cab and rerouted the wires we noticed the passenger side sub, was what was rattling like crazy. Originally when I heard his subs in the blowthrough it sounded like maybe one of them was blown. I touched the dustcap and the rattling stopped, I figured it was the dustcap was loose at first, but realized it stopped when I also touched cone itself. I tested if it was the cap by taping up the cap (typically from what Ive experienced, if its the cap the rattling will stop). The rattling continued, so I decided it would be best if we took the woofer out and see if their is any internal damage visible. As soon as we lifted it up out of the box I realized this is Rockford's big 4in Voice coil sub. Pretty cool as I have never seen a 4in coil before. I looked over the sub, and initially didn't notice any damage, I lifted up the coil with the cone, and that made the issue very apparent. The spider was almost completely detached except where the leads were. I took some simple green cleaner, and cleaned the edge, and the rest of the sub as they were dusty. Took some stripper and me and Jhovani rubbed the edge to try and clean and remove some of the old fragments of glue and such. We then used some epoxy and coated the edges, we had a little trouble with that, because the tip had broken when I opened the epoxy. As I was putting the epoxy on it was coming out the sides and everywhere, we lost most of the first tube... We got most of the spider epoxied on, but there was a couple places namely by the leads where we didn't get enough, but I was out. Currently we are waiting overnight for it to dry, and see if this fixes most of the rattling. On a very good note the coils were shiny and looked brand new, which I thought was pretty impressive since he has hammered on these 15s for years. Thought I'd post the little experience, since it was kind of an unexpected thing today. Some of you may find it interesting. I don't know too much about older subwoofers, namely these, so you guys will have to give me a history lesson on these and your opinions Sorry also if this in the wrong section, I figured this one would be fine though.

The New Kicker Comp R
So... DCON's it is. National back order And? I'd rather wait for DCON's than go buy a Kicker. lolI love ssa and their subs, but comments like this and the way you guys hate "mainstream" brands is petty. Well.. Kicker subs are poorly made in my opinion, and a lot of other people think the same thing, a lot of people think differently also. Depends on what you've experienced with them. Poorly made? Bullshit. A lot of other people don't think for themselves. Are they an end all solution? No way, but a ton of their gear definitely has a place. I said in my opinion, obviously there is a lot worse. Sure there's a niche for it, but for real quality I think there are a lot better choices. Great first time subs though, which is mainly who the largest buyers of kicker subs are. That being said I hold my statement, They are definitely not my cup of tea. As I said in another thread, or this one I forget... Ive heard the new comps, and they are loud as hell for 12s on small amounts of power. They might be a good choice for beginners looking for SPL instead of SQ. Although I haven't heard them sealed, so maybe SQ is an option with them.

Flame cover huh? That's interesting hah, I dunno if I'd like that either
-
New Freebie
I think it looks good haha, it has a old school look to it. Know a couple people who still run old audiobahn amps, they don't look quite that good either

nice looking amp, what is it rated for?

Thinking About Getting An AR-15? Advice?
I have a 5.56 AR, I'd buy ammo whenever you see it, cause if its like here in the rest of the US then its gonna be hard to get a hold of. People are stocking up masses of ammo here, namely 9mil, 223, and 556. Every time I go to sportsman's warehouse, or other carriers of ammo the shelves are nearly empty. I've heard its because of the recent bills about assault rifles, and guns in general. I have around 2,000-3,000 rounds stored away.

Sacred's upcoming Bronco Build
Nah this wire has a really stretchy outer coating and the way I bent the wire made the outside pull back. The wire is solid in the there, I pulled on all of them as I hard as I could and they didn't come out. It just doesn't look very nice, so shrink tubing will fix that. Oh and yes it's soldered, and the ground dual input is actually slightly crimped too cause the were designed for that, not solder.

Sacred's upcoming Bronco Build
Thanks So I got the alternator in, but I didn't have time to move the HC1200 and rewire the amps. Also got the wrong size shrink tubing, so I will have to pick some up tomorrow to make the wires look a bit nicer. The 1/0 gauge terminals were a little tricky, very tight fit so my cuts were all over the place on the pvc outer coating... The wires look like they are run kinda messy but that will change tomorrow when I move the second battery. After doing it I took it for a drive and not only is my bass a lot clearer but all my interior, exterior lights are brighter. Charges at 14.4v-14.8v, goes up and down a little bit. I haven't had a chance to check voltage at amps or while under load or anything, but tomorrow I shall. A look at the wire Old tiny wires from my alternator Old alternator Sexy big block shot The wiring Grounds Alternator wired up Overall look

Quick question
Id personally go with the Sundown SAs, just to throw my initial thoughts in there.

Sacred's upcoming Bronco Build
Its a locally manufactured brand called Arctic Ultraflex, it is nice wire but likely wont be buying it again as it was 5$ a foot. But I wanted to get this alternator in today so I bought this instead of ordering some which would take at least a week to get here.

Sacred's upcoming Bronco Build
Picked up so 1/0 G wire, fuses, and connections today to wire up the Alternator, and move the HC1200 to the center console. The wall is coming soon, this build is starting a lot slower than I expected. But money isn't right quite yet. Soon hopefully. Oh and I'm switching to the crescendo 3500 for subs, because I rather have a little extra power maybe with impedance rise then not enough. Pics:

MDF Primer
Thank you, Ill see If I can find some locally.

MDF Primer
Any recommendations for a MDF paint primer? I would prefer the typical gray color of primers. I've heard that you need a special primer, but I wasn't sure. I did a search but most places said use primer as a general term and didn't specify a certain kind of primer or anything. I need know to smooth out and prime my old DCON boxes and also some SSA logo cutouts. Thanks

The New Kicker Comp R
Go for dcons, Ive heard the new kicker comp 12s and although they are quite loud, they have no definition whatsoever. I guess it could've been the box, but In my opinion from what Ive heard out of them.. definitely not a good choice for SQ. Plus dcons are entirely in a different class when it comes to quality of the subwoofer itself.
