I been rackin my brain on this...how do you screw from the inside out? I'm walling my ride, almost all of the rear will be enclosure, with room in back for amps.

do you find any advantage at...JESUS...16V?? If you had the exact same deck, only at 4V, would it matter?

I haven't had my CDA-9855 since last january, my X-girlfriend got it in the break up. . Back before that, we considered selling it to get an Eclipse, I don't remember which one, but the main reason was the 8V...though no, I didn't have a problem at the time, except with the crossovers. I had 2 CDA-9855's and both suffered from a "pop" sound once in a while at certian frequency peaks that corresponded with different crossover points/slopes. So really, now that i'm starting from scratch as far as the source goes, I'd prefer the highest voltage possible along with everything else into consideration of course...cause at the end of the day, all gains at minimum would just mean minimal amplification of outside noise, right? I have an Audio Control 6XS and I need to get a second one...they have built in line drivers, so I could easily get away with a good 1volt....but why? So long as i like everything else about the deck, you know?

I know it's hard to do apples to apples, different ohm loads "Output Voltage and Impedance 8V/55 " different THD's "Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): 0.008%" yadda yadda...frequency range, voltage. I have been looking to switch from Alpine to Eclipse on the simple thought that Alpine is usually 4-5V where eclipse can be 8V and upwards. Help me out here guys!

for years I hated ported, but after learning and learning, i finally realized it was because most people tune higher...much higher (and have much less airspace) than my personal tastes. I can no longer justify using 50% of the cone's movement, trapping the other 1/2 in a sealed chamber. Port it. Transmission line. TPQW. Anything hexiBase would make. But don't waste the back 1/2 of the driver!

well to make them happy, go 4 cubes around 27-33Hz....still a bit large and low for music, but it's in home and may do some THX.1 duty? (ignore that...6 cubes 14-20Hz!!!)

Got skrewed on recone, never got 2 of them back. makin a ported box for 2 12" L5's for a friend rounding a corner more after routered Lanzar OPTI2000D does NOT have soft turn on/off...it blew my second ava with turn off pop when I didn't have the side on the bandpass...freeair...bottomed out hard. Had to cut the speaker out, converted the 20HURTZ bandpass into a 5.1cube@21Hz ported box. Best box i've ever had. Ran a 15" Type R and 15" MOFO in it. front of the 15L7 box 3.5cubes@27Hz if i remember right. without the face on yet

How about big ported! 5cubes plus, 20Hz or lower. More home theater or home stereo? (either way I'd say the same, but everyone seems to think sub 30-35Hz for music is a waste...BAH!)

excellent question! I seriousely considered it, but the aiming/angling process was the biggest problem, especially being my first time doing so, and I found it quite expensive during a different build. BUT, I may still sand down the current enclosure, apply some releasing agent, and make a mould of it.

Think about the pair of 18s I'm going to be using this on. what 18's are you gonna knock the hell out of with that. I assume you're running @ 14.4ish?

previouse projects: a ported box we made for 2 12" L5's, tuned as low and as much air space as possable...my motto 4th order S of .7 (as large as possible for flattest/widest responce as opposed to .4, peaked for SPL, narrow passband, highest gain) F3 20Hz...insane...tought me SO much resin is EXPENSIVE...this box cost over $120!!! Curved corners...priceless before routered/outside resin Lanzar OPTI2000D does NOT have soft turn on as advertised. therefore, 2 avalanches were blown by a lanzar amp. Had to cut it out of the box, so it became 5.1 cubic feet poted @21Hz...best box i've ever had.
