canbus jeep
my jeep compass has the amplified boston acoustics stereo and needless to say ill be changing the whole thing but what I really need to know is do I have to have the pac canbus adapter since I don't care about steering wheel controls and wont be using the factory amp also if I don't use the adapter I would assume id have to run all new speaker wire directly from the amp to the speaker any help with this would be appreciated never worked with a canbus stereo before

amp recommend
recommendations needed for an amp the plan currently is to run incriminator audio comps up front and a dcon 15 dual 4 in a ported box in the back now Id prefer to only have to run one amp and to slightly over power the dcon so what 4 channel amps do you think would be worth it to bridge the rear channels or are there any great 3 channels or even 5 channels since I could hook the rear channel on a 5 channel to my drop down tailgate speakers Thanks guys

sweet deal
just lucked out and hopped on craigslist this afternoon and managed to happen upon a sweet deal for 2 SSA DCON 15s in a 7 cubes sealed box so I finally have ssa subs now all I need is a financial aid refund to get everything else and decide if im keeping one sub and selling everything else or keeping both and just redoing the box since it wont fit right in the jeep these things are so much nicer up close then in pictures lol the build quality looks awesome I just cant wait to hear them too bad it might be a few months

testing coils
It says ohm right on it and unfortunately i cant on my phone currently but i have the rough idea well enough other than coil impedance and physical look any other recommendations to check anything on a used ssa sub?

No im not running out im researching and googling constantly between calls at work this is very interesting i just am still trying to ascertain the basics

Yea i gather as much i just figure since i want the 80 prs head unit and it has the capability why not as well as it sounds like a good plan for it to be customizable if all else fails and i suck at it ill just by a component set with a passive crossover
-
active
Ok i will though we are discussing on it so did you mean further search the forum with other keywords or did i miss something?
-
active
Wow there is alot to this sorry ive been asking so much im still actively using google though there doesnt quite seem to be a wealth of knowledge like asking here is
-
active
Awesome the advice is so helpful for individuals what brands do you recommend and where to purchase from
-
active
Oh ok i understand now should i start off with a prebuilt component set and just remove the crossover or purchase a woofer and tweeter seperate? Also what do you think of my baseline idea?
-
active
Why would i blow drivers? And yea i figured as much its slightly intimidating from how complicated it sounds though i think im gonna start with this set of 65 dollar pioneer components i found and go from there do you think it would be a good idea to hook them up with the passive crossovers first hear the sound then attempt active and try to match the sound then customize to my liking so i can have a slight base line to start or what is the best way to start

wow my curiosity has became interest I think I am really going to look into to this worst case scenario it sounds bad until I get my head right either way I like the idea of the challenge and with how helpful yall are I think im going to try my two channel active set up I think I may just keep bumping this thread with questions and as I buy parts start a log because I have a feeling this is going to be a long process

I love the idea of active then I like my music in very specific ways I like my country to sound one way rock another as well as anything else so customizable sounds awesome my ear im not to sure about im not sure if I trust it but I assume with a little bit of practice I can figure it out from what ive found so far you use the low pass filter on the sub to block any notes above a certain hertz as you had said as well as low and high pass for the mid to restrict frequencies then the high pass for the tweeters now as a question I have seen mention of 2 way and 3 way active which is superior and if they are equal what are the factors that would cause a person to decide one over the other? and I love music and need a hobby that doesn't involve changing out my stereo components every week because it seems to make me broke so I love the idea of changing installation and deadening and settings to satisfy my need for change and pursuit of making it better... I get a little obsessive about certain hobbies now Ive read in my research time alignment crossover slopes and roll offs are paramount is speaker placement a huge deal or can it be overcome by proper install and settings I just have soo many questions lol I wish there was a sticky with a comprehensive guide or knowledge base or something on this subject because it seems like a hell of an endeavour

not sure if I should post here or the head unit processing forum so sorry if the wrong place I did a forum search with the word active with no real results I am going to be purchasing a 80prs by pioneer here pretty soon and am very intrigued on what exactly active is does anyone have any good quality sites you could link me to with good information not common rumors or otherwise so I can begin my journey of discovery I don't mean to try and be spoon fed but we all know google isn't the most credible source so I would like to get credible sources from the experts first then after I research those and learn something then I will probably come back to this thread and pick your brains im not for sure saying I want to do active I dont even have any idea what it would sound like though I figure why not learn a little more and try it out and pray to god I love it and if not ill try something else lol any help is appreciated as well as opinions comments or otherwise dont worry I wont get butthurt like most if you give it to me straight or tear me up for not googling first

budget amps.
a while ago I ran a cadence txa 1000d got it super cheap and ran it at 1 ohm it seemed to be a tank though was rather large
-
head unit decision
yea that was what I was thinking considering I can get both same price why not have the extra potential for expandability for when I can wrap my head around what active is and how to do it lol

Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
it seems as though your wiring to the speakers are correct though you need to use a y on the rcas for front left and right as well as rear left and right to condense the rear input to a single rca and the front signal to a single rca then connect 1 to the right channel front input on the headunit then the other to the left channel input on the head unit is how it reads
-
head unit decision
yea I think I will as soon as cash comes in I just wanted to make sure there weren't any I was over looking it seemed to be the most solid and versatile choice now I just gotta figure out how I want to install it etc due to my jeep being canbus and I don't want the factory amp or wiring for my stereo though im slightly attached to the input for my speedometer so if anyone has anyone that has done a head unit install in a 11-12 patriot or compass with the boston system and have eliminated the factory amp as well as ran all new speaker wire while retaining all functionality without that dam expensive adapter id love to pic their brain

head unit decision
