  1. well I want a good pront stage but im not into SQ im more LSQ especially you can notice that since I plan on getting 2 15" Fi's and a 3000 watt system lol. The box is gonna be at 30hz and im getting a crap load of Raammat to do the car none of that crappy rattle, nothing worse then when you can hear the rattle from a system before you can hear the bass.
  2. Well if I decide to wait to get my subs then I will not add back speakers but if I decide to wait I might want the back speakers so it sounds good before then. Well I need the front stage to be pretty good so it will keep up with my substage. I plan on getting 2 15" Fi BL's in a 8 cubit foot ported box with a 3000 watt Sundown amp running at 1 ohm. So I know that it is gonna cost a good chunk of change because of a deep cycle for the back and new starter battery and alternator I am going to need. So I am willing to look at 1500 for the front stage. I was looking at the boston pro60 model the only problem is that I don't have any reputable car audio shops around here so crutchfield is my only option for Bostons. These take 125 watts RMS and I already have a spot for tweeters to I can mount them seperatley. So a set of those and a so would I need a 4 channel amp to run an active crossover or not?
  3. Well considering the way I was thinking that is was 125 for tweeter and 125 for midbass so 125 x 4 is 500 but I guess I only need about 250 at 3 ohms then if I get the pro 60's. So if I do that through a active crossover then what brand makes a good active crossover? Also should I just remove the 6x9's so that it can be a port into the cabin for the subs? if I do that should I make the subs fire towards the cabin or the lid?
  4. It is a 2000 Buick Lesabre Limited with the Concert sound 2 package, not bad for stock I actually get enough bass to make head lights jump in my rear view mirror. It has door tweeters also.
  5. well the pro 60's look like a good choice kinda pricey but worth it if they sound good. So the are rated at 125 watts each so a 500 watt x 4 amp at 4 ohms should work good. Well one thing is the only place I can buy them is crutchfield the closest dealer to me is 60 miles and I wouldn't want to drive all the way there just to price them. And also Crutchfield gives alot of extras when you buy. So is 600 too much to pay for the speaker or about right?
  6. I am planning on working on my front stage to get ready for my system how does a $1000 budget sound for 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, amp wiring, head unit, and maybe even crossovers I may be able to pull a couple hundred more dollars but if this budget sounds too low then what am I looking at paying. I am hoping on saving money by just buying a good amp at a low price so what kind of amp would be good at about 60 watts x 6 at 4 ohms. I was looking at Boston components but only crutch field carries them and they dont have that great of a selection of them so what other brand is good I don't need attached tweeters I have a place for them on the doors.
  7. The reason why people say that is because 1000 is good for a regular BL but after Flatwind and cooling they can handle up to 2000 without getting warm and that is only $60 extra. But you should go ahead and get the options and power it with 1000 watts just so you have room to be flexible.
  8. ok what about Boston speakers? I have heard that it is better to replace your 6x9's with just a circle speaker so should I?
  9. I did consider that thats why I asked what kind of electrical and front stage upgrades am I looking at to make it sound good not just loud. I don't want all bass but you can't even hear the song if you know what I mean. Also what I meant like lows is I have heard a box tuned to about 30 hz and I liked the sound but what do you mean by roll off I thought that ported is more efficient? I have 6x9's in the rear deck with 5.25's in the front doors and door tweeters. So what kind of speakers should I look at? I know nothing about speaker brands. And what sundown amp would put out about 100 watts for 6 speakers (including tweeters). And this is going to be a 3600 watt system and my car only has a 105 amp alternator so how many amp alternator is going to be needed and what brand of battery makes a good starter and good deep cycle for the trunk. I am hoping to have all the money by the end of the year and be done by maybe February so I am in no rush I just want to be able to make a list of everything I need and how much it will be, I don't want to do it cheap, if I cant get it done that soon I can't Ill just save for longer.
  10. I am planning on getting 2 15" BL's with about 8 cubic feet of volume in a ported box to about 30 hz (I love lows, the lower the better). So how do you guys think this will perform? Also I have heard great things about Sundown and that they make great amps so what model amp or amps would fit these subs good, and what kind of electrical and front stage upgrades am I looking at to make this sound great? Also I have heard of the Q's hitting upper 140's with just one 15, so would this be that much louder if it is a good setup? Also just to let you know I come from one of those towns where everyone gets a boner for JL's and Audiobahns so I am ready to blow someone away when I get my system and show them what Fi's can do.
  11. No actually this is my first system and I just want to get the best I can for the money I think if I spend a little extra and just get 2 15's I will be louder and it will probably be better for SQ also, I am kind of and LSQ person that leans toward SPL. I love deep bass so how would those 2 15's sound in a box tuned to 30 hz? Also i'm pretty sure they could handle 2000 apiece if they are loaded. The thing is I have been driving now for about 4 months and I have been researching for over a year so I know allot, but I have absolutely no personal experience with systems.
  12. See I thought about getting 2 of these 15" bl's, but would it be better to use just one 18" BTL and put about 4000 watts into that? I have about 9 cubic feet of room for box, that is about right for 2 15"s or 1 18". What would be louder? logically you would think that the 15"s would be louder because you are moving more air but if I am putting the same amount of wattage into a single sub will it be as loud?
  13. Thats what I said im gonna have to go talk to the guy but I know its in good shape whatever it is because when he went by a small grocery store in my small town lol, I could see the doors shaking and it was turned down low lol, I mean even if it is not exactly that setub it sounds damn good, he got it for free, and I bet I can sell it for a hell of a lot more than $300. But I was reading around and as you know this is my first st up and im a do it yourself kind of person so I want to do it all myself. So as you can tell all the help I can get is appreciated. I am trying to do it smart and not jump into things and make good choices so I don't get the system and not be satisfied. Well I was reading that I could easily get 150db with a single 15" BL. So What could I hit with a fully loaded 18" BL or even Fully loaded 18" BTL with a 9 c foot ported box tuned down to 30hz? I want to run like 2000 watts into a BL but if you guys think a BTL would be worth it then I would like to run 4000 watts. Im not looking for specific numbers because I know thats impossible to tell but give me an idea because I know no one around here is hitting more than 140 and I am exited to show people what an FI can do. Everyone around here even the audio shops have bashed me for considering FI and saying that I should get JL's, or Audiobahn, cause they are the best lol
  14. well I have some news my budget just went up alot, a guy that I know is selling me a system, I just have to go see it, he has a friend the does sub comps and he has sponsors so he gets free stuff all of the time. So he gives the stuff he doesn't need anymore to this guy. SO he has 4, 12 inch Fosgates with 2, 4k fosgate amps. He is going to sell it all for 300 bucks. So Im thinking if I can keep an amp and sell the other amp and subs for something then I will have enough money to go with the BTL and move up in Wattage so what should I do to move up to that?
  15. So I found that an alternator would be atleast $300, the optima yellow top for the back would be about $210, but what would be a good starter battery to get, would it need to be a deep cycle too? Also what would be the best way to do the big 3 when my starter battery is under my back seat, also one more thing how would I go about isolating the battery, I have heard that diode isolation is the best way. I have been looking at amps and I found the Fosgate 2000 watt amp, but a lot of other companies don't have 200 watt, but they have 1500 and 3000, what would be the big difference between 1500 and 2000, and also what amps would you recommend, also apparently I don't want to spent more than the Fosgate would because those are $800. This is my fist system so thank you for any suggestions
  16. Well ive been reading and i'm gonna need a 300 amp alternator, so if I do this and get 2 batteries would I be better off isolating them so it won't drain my starter battery? Also if I do this how long will I be able to listen to my system with my key back then?
  17. well my budget for the whole thing sub and all is about 2000 maybe more depending on if I can get this job im trying to get. so idk if I could get some in the full spectrum it would be nice. Also it is a BL sorry fr the miss spell, but for right now I will be getting about 1500 in about 2 months and I will be working to so it could be up to 3 grand or more.
  18. I wonder if I am gonna use 2000 watts to run a Fi 18" BT, will I need a new HO alt, or new battery, after the fact of the Big 3. Also I want to ask, if I decide to just get rid of my rear 6x9's and just upgrade my front stage will I be able to just put all of the power from the head unit into 2 speakers so that I wont have to run another amp? I also wouldn't mind if someone could help me find a amp that could handle 2000 watts RMS at 1 ohm
  19. So If I got a 3000 watt amp stable at 1 ohm and wanted to get two 15 inch Fi's then what model should I get to have the best quality, also I noticed the BL's and the Q's are the same price so would I be better off just getting the BL's and having a little room to work with if I wanted to get a larger amp? Also what options should I choose for these subs, and should I get another battery or just upgrade my alternator. I know a lot of technical things but I have no personal experience so any advice I can get will be appreciated
