  1. only reason i suggested the rear fill is becuase my doors have leakage problems, but i may be able to fabricate some custom kick pannels.... i will post pics later
  2. First let me start by saying...im only 16 and this will be going in my first car! I was super confused on what sub setup to go with...so i will be going with a single 12 ported tuned to 30hz...which is pretty low in my opinion. The two subs i have in mind are the SSA Icon and the FI Q. The Q box would be 2.5 cu ft. net, the ICON box would be 2.25 cu ft. net. I feel as though these subs will give me excelent SQ with an ability to jus flat out wang from time to time. My car is a 1977 Buick Regal. As of right now the front doors have severe leakage problems...especially the front passenger door. Because of this problem...i was thinking about running a rear fill. Probably a 6.5 component set...maybe a GOOD set of coaxials because of a lower budget. I probably could fabricate some custom kick pannels for the fronts and mount the tweeter in the dash or maybe right behind the front seat in the upper quarter, where the side interior lights are, or something like that. I have some sets on mind like these... component http://sonicelectronix.com/item_5144_Clif+...gns+PX650C.html http://sonicelectronix.com/item_9319_Infin...nce+6020CS.html http://sonicelectronix.com/item_9115_Kenwo...KFC-X1710P.html http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17540 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=3059 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=5207 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=2950 coaxials http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14525 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=11401 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17764 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=15357 http://sonicelectronix.com/item_5150_--+CR...gns+QX6550.html I also plan to get a good dampener...like some RAAMAT I was thinking of maybe running the componets/coaxials off of the head units power...but probably an amp a 2 channel like these http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17890 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17038 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=11692 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14320 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=16325 and a sub amp like... http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=16338 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=16367 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17847 http://sonicelectronix.com/item_9391_Clif+...+CD10.1DLX.html http://sonicelectronix.com/item_7369_Power...SA+1000.1D.html http://sonicelectronix.com/item_8731_Light...S4.1000.1D.html i know its alot of info but am i going in the right direction?
  3. Well Ill have somebody design me one....can anybody give me like a free blueprint and whatnot and i could have somebody build the box b/c im lost on this box stuff
  4. Thanks for getting me straightened out guys!
  5. so if i was to go...like about 4.5-4.3 net...then after the bracing and port...id be at about 4 cu ft. gross which is what i want correct? how is the low end on these budget monsters?
  6. so if i was to go...like about 4.5-4.3 net...then after the bracing and port...id be at about 4 cu ft. gross which is what i want correct? how is the low end on these budget monsters?
  7. Ummm M5 what do you mean by gross and net?
  8. Im going w/ the MAW now instead of the IXL b/c i dont have as much trunk space as i thought(with the spare tire in the trunk) Plan 4 cu ft. tuned to 28hz 48 sq in. of port area(16 x 3) 800 watts at 1 ohm(400 x 2 at 1 ohm) Sound good?
  9. ok....48 inches of port area sound good?
  10. I measure my trunk...w/ the spare in it Alot tighter than i expected So 2 12s will fit the bill I was thinking 2 maw12's in a 4 cubic ft. box tuned to 30hz or 28hz then give them bout 400-500 watts a piece...that sound good?
  11. well....it rained last night and i think water got in the doors...that is a problem...can be fix....but i think I AM A end up running a rear fill....6.5 component set
  12. im sad to say...but i got my car this afternoon...it wont allow me to fit a 18 inch sub... i guess ill jus have to wait for the ixl 15...
  13. Peel n Seal is pretty cheap....but i think ill get some ED eDead V1, that stuff looks like it is supposed to be sound deadener
  14. How soon...?
  15. Saw this head unit for pretty decent price...plus it comes with the ipod cord(ive got an ipod) looked nice is this a nice budget hu? http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17793
  16. Because most of the "grunt work" is handled by your midbasses. The sub is simply there to round things out below 40Hz where the mids simply run out of mechanical travel. Ideally, you wouldn't be able to even tell that there's a sub present, but if you turned it off they'd be something "missing" from the sound. Sounds weird to describe, but in person it's very obvious. Go see post #47 if you want to see what I was replying to...he asks the questions, I answer 'em, I don't know what his state of mind was, nor do I care to know Ahh...i understand that... Im pretty set now on my sub(IXL) I was pretty set on jus running a single component set up front...no rear fill...but this isnt a TRUE SQ setup...so a rear fill wont be so bad...as long as i get a good set of speakers(probably another 6.5 component set) Now....what type of amp would yall recommend if i went with a dual component set up or a single component setup? PS...What is some good budget sound dampener...especially for a trunk?
  17. Why did u say for true SQ it probably won't matter much anyway?
  18. Not exactly a fair comparison... less wattage=less distorition...maybe?
  19. What is the displacement for the ixl...in cu ft? jus to start up some more arguements.... mj18 vs. ixl18.4 for true sq? lol....i love it when people argue!
  20. those look nice...I AM A keep my eyes and ears open for more suggestions and what not... but sealed or ported on the ixl18.4?
  21. Ahh I understand...what are some other component sets that yall recommend for just good all-around sound?
  22. any advice/opinions on my choices?
  23. Im probably getting this head unit... http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17793 this amp...for front stage http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17292 these components http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=16676 this amp for sub http://sonicelectronix.com/item_8015_Infin...ence+1211a.html
  24. good...what are some component sets that yall reccomend? in the 200 and under range...?
  25. why are 6x9's so bad then? but for this setup...the 18 will be fine corret?
