  1. H2 happened to it, both are great subs I want my maggy 15" back though
  2. what was that date again? June 3rd? no but really, all I heard was mid june?
  3. Anyone know when the 15's are due in? Can't wait to get my hands on another one, last I heard they would be ready to go early or mid June? Anyone?
  4. I'd go smaller than that on that sub, go 8 cubes, you can lose SPL adding space as well too. I did with my H2. That must be pretty loud though. My single Maggy at 32hz with around 1500w POUNDED, and thats gotta be a little louder than mine due to having 2 even with less power. Yeah you could definitely lose some hearing pretty quickly with that much bass hehe. Those things are ridiculously efficient.
  5. There is much more low end in that driver believe me I had mine first in 3.5 with polyfill, TOO much low end, 3.0 w/polyfill still bottom heavy but very nice, 2.4 with polyfill is a very nice balance and has plenty of low end. I'd say 2.8 without polyfill. 2 cubes really didn't have too much low end. You have to remember this is a low Q driver so you gotta go a little larger for low end.
  6. ha ha, okay ready for an unbiased opinion, meaning I don't own the mag anymore? I sold my mag 15" because I wanted try all the supersubs. After owning the 13w7 10w7 12w6 10w3's 12w0s 10w0s, Kicker competitions (old better series), round solobarics, Image dynamics IDQ's, Alumapro Alchemy 12's, Pioneer Premiers, RF xlc 10's and 12's, Orion xtr 15's, Orion Cobalt 15's, Orion 2nt 12's, Focal PolyKevlars, Eclipse Aluminum, MTx 5000, 7000, 6000, and 8000 series, idmax, Elemental Designs E12a and 15A, Image Dynamics SPL 15, and hearing just about every sub you could think of in other people's cars the mag 15" was the best sub I'd ever owned. Awesome sound quality (great accuracy, natural, blended VERY well with front stage, no bad peaks, good low end, good punch, sounds good with all music and doesn't need Eq'd to death). And my god did it get loud with 1000w, ported and sealed just got SOOOOOO loud. With 2000w its just a monster, I mean just crazy loud even sealed. But I hadn't heard the brahma or xxx which were the big hype so I had to try one so I sold the mag which took me like 2 weeks to actually sell it to the seller hehe, I bought a xxx 15". Now I'd have to say this sub did beat the Mag in accuracy, and for playing the bass exactly as it was recorded, BUT had no punch because it was a true sub and was not musical. For you to get good tonal balance and get as loud as the Magnum you'd need to pair up some 8" or 10" midbass's because the sub had no output above 55hz and if you've ever tried getting 6's to play down to 60hz and get LOUD you'd know it just doesn't work. Especially if you wanted to get the xxx loud and still maintain tonal balance. It also required twice the power to get as loud as the magnum. If I had the choice and had 8" midbass's (with about 1000w just for them) and a 3000w amp, a VERY powerful alternator, I would use the xxx and because I don't have all this (although I have the power and I will be getting 10" midbass's but I just don't like the bad efficiency) i will not be using it. But with anything less the magnum would be my choice of sub and it will be again shortly. ALthough I have an Orion H2 15" which I will be installing tomorrow, and I'll be doing a review of it. I'm waiting for the Mag 15's to be in stock again so I wanted to try a couple more subs out before its ready. Anyway, so far its wooped ass on every sub I've heard and i don't know if you know this but these subs JUST came out so how the hell would they be in tweeter or any other high end shop yet?
  7. I know what you're saying that is more than I have and it sounds AWESOME. on the bottom I'm literally touching the top of the basket to the bottom of the enclosure! Go 2.4 cubes, best most natural sound out of this sub. yes you can go with a 2.0 like recommended but seriously if you want a seriously flat response go 2.4 2.0 IMO was lacking in the low end naturally (without eq in the 25-34hz region). And the f3 seemed alot higher in the 2.0. Even with just .4 cubes more the f3 dropped considerably on my analyser. I dropped about 2db in the 40hz-50hz region on my eq where cabin gain is a biatch in just about every car and the thing is damn near perfect........as perfect as I think I will ever get a sub in a a car hehe.....
  8. yeah 500w will definitely get this sub going VERy well. Later if you get an ich for more SPL all you gotta do is get a bigger amp and you'll have plenty of sub left to take probably 4 times that power. All I know is at 500w you probably won't get too many other subs as loud. Sundownz: Hey are you running all 2500w on a single D2? 12" or 15"? Also how do you like hte Magnum compared to your old brahma 15?
  9. well if it makes any difference I've had all the big LSQ subs in my car besides the xbl^2 subs and this is certainly an upgrade from anything I've had before! so far all my friends think its the best thing since sliced bread hehe. And I've had "dub sevens" in my car too and supposedly its the "best sub in the world". a few of us are starting to represent in the forums too.
  10. nick, you are the MAN. Do you have any tests of the BL curves etc. on this sub. its very linear sub, but most importantly the timing on this sub is wonderful. If you have the charts and don't mind could you email them to me? I won't post them if you don't want me to.
  11. WHOOOAAAAAAA!!!! I've been running it in the spec ported enclosure up till now, then the last couple days in a 3.5 cube sealed enclosure and like it alot better. Today I put 1 cubic ft of foam blocks making the internal volume about 2.3 cubes after displacement and MAN is this sub awesome, WOW WOW WOW, this sub just impresses me more and more. The detail has gotten even better, the gut wrenching feeling is just wonderful. I'm getting ALOT more impact with the smaller enclosure, and its allot more "alive" I'm usually a fan of lower QTC sealed setups but this sub is perfect in a high .6 QTC, low .7 QTC. Just wonderful, made my day hehe
  12. 4ohms? Don't run it at 4ohms! Run it at 1ohm silly. THe mag can handle well over what that amp puts out hehe  for music believe me lol Just don't go running 5hz sine waves at it with the volume all the way up.
  13. refund sent, gonna keep it, some stuff came up, and I'm wondering if the xxx could even possibly sound better than this. Anyway you got mail too chu I'm sorry bud, car trouble is a biatch. SPoiled my plans I've had for MONTHS for my RE setup
  14. actually the viper is "better" if thats the word, than the Orion and the DEI. Reason is because it puts out more power. You can strap 2 of them together as well and get over 3500wrms!!!!!!!!!!! They are all similar and the same build quality, but the Viper has been tested and so have the others and the viper just puts out more power, alot more than what its rated for. Directed's amps are FAR BETTER amps than Hifonics. Thats like asking if the JBL BP1200.1 is as good as the JL 1000/1 or Hammer.
  15. chuouwee? Hey I emailed you back bud.
  16. its no big deal, I'm in no real hurry, my install isn't for 2 weeks so as long as I have the money transfered into my bank account from paypal by then its all good. Oh and I have lots of seller feedback on sounddomain.com on the feedback forum, and elitecaraudio.com on the for sale forum, and on ebay. Same name on all 3, also have feedback on altimas.net under "altimized02" when I sold my rims, and an HID kit. :boxin:
  17. Well don't know if you guys remember or not but I was going to do a comparison between the D2 15" and the xxx 15" so I bought both, the RE 15" is coming and I haven't heard it yet so I don't want to cancel my order cause I want a chance to hear it first, if I like the RE sub I'll keep it, if not I'll buy another D2. My nitrous setup is going to cost a little more than I spected so the wife made me compromise Its in mint condition. Just bought it last week. maybe has 2-3 hours on it. I'm selling it for the same price as nick sells them. If I don't get the money oh well i'll just keep it I guess cause its worth no less. Since they will not be available for a few months otherwise. That way I only lose $50 since I had to pay shipping to my house. So first person to pay the $350 shipped gets it. My email is [email protected]
  18. No I was just curious cause my 15" is ported and the SQ is phenominal. I think the specs even show the 15" is geared a little more for a ported enclosure overall than teh 12" is. I've had subs that sounded just okay ported and great sealed, but this sub is right on, I mean RIGHT ON for accuracy and tonality in the ported enclosure I have it in. But I've never had it in a sealed enclosure, and was just curious what these particular subs sound like sealed. And yeah i gotta lot more to it than 600w too
  19. yeah it'll be loud, but he's just saying to take advantage of what these subs really got, give em that much. Hell they can take ALOT more than 1000w for music so even 800 won't even be that much for them. Tonight just for a test I ran a ridiculous amount of power to my 15" with music to see what it really had and let me tell you, this sub can handle ALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of power. I mean, probably more than anyone thought they could I cannot imagine too many subs period can get as loud as this sub did tonight. As I was driving down the road (and I'm not overstating this) i couldn't see straight, it was like someone was kinda shaking my head, my eyes couldn't focus at all and the upper bass was slamming into my back like a brick wall with every hit. Anyway, 400w would not do it justice is what he is saying
  20. I've owned counless art series, and older pc series PPI amps and now use Orion. They are the most reliable amp I've used to date. They NEVER get hot. I use the older series (2002) but i've also used some of the new stuff and its really good too. The new class D Orion amps are considered some of the best, and most power amps in their class's. Viper 1200D's are just as good and have actually been tested to put out even more than the Orion. Same company btw.
  21. Just curious can you tell me some details on why you like the sound better sealed? Thanks, Rob
  22. my thoughts exactly. im in the exact same sit. as you and am going to go with the memphis. the only problem is, there is no warranty on ebay. i can get the mc1000d for 550+tax at a local shop with 3 year warranty or for not even 400 bucks shipped to my house on ebay. the hifonics amps just dont appeal to me for some reason. im sure that they are built like tanks but the memphis just seems to be the better way to go. and those Memphis amps are SMALL AS HELL!!!! I wish mine were that small. You can fit those little suckers in your damn glove compartment haha! My amps are huge Looks cool but if I had some memphis amps I could hide them so easily like under my drivers seat etc. I've actually been thinking about getting a MOJO amp for my sub and a pair of their 4 channel amps for my front stage. All 3 together would fit in my pocket hehe
  23. Alot of amps, at least ones i've owned can be run a 2ohms mono even though they are rated at 4ohms, you just have to limit yourself to gains all the way down and adjust the gains on the rest of your amps so they get to full potential way before you get to max volume on your head unit so that the input voltage is low on the sub amp. But so many people just try to use all of the power at 2ohm mono and end up in protection mode all the time, or fry the amp.
  24. Yeah get 2. I mean the Mag 15" ported is just right for me in teh SPL department and I'm not near the basshead most of the guys are around here. I mean i bet a single 12 ported would rival just about any other for ouput (besides some straight SPL subs), but 2 would make you wet your pants with 2000w. I think 1 would make you happy and you'd love it for a while but I bet you'd get an ich for another one Might as well do the enclosure once instead of having to build another later if you decide to get another one. Hell they are cheap as hell why not YOu could only get like 1 MTx 9500, or JL 12w7 sub for the price of 2 MAGGIES! and those don't sound as good nor do they get as loud even compared to 1 maggy but with 1500w, you won't even get 2 xxx 12's even close to full potential. From what I've heard, i'd take everyones advice and get more power than 1500w for a pair of those.
