  1. Well being a slim line subwoofer mechanical clearances are not like regular subwoofers
  2. am I reading this wrong or are you going to give each sub 2.5 cu ft with over 1500 watts each?? Have fun
  3. I solder all of my power and ground wires...if you know how to use a torch correctly than there's no problem with the insulation melting...it'll get a little hot and soft but nothing that a cold water bath can take care of.
  4. Well seems like you just tossed together an attempt at a tapped horn...I would model this first in Hornresp. Also a proper tapped horn subwoofer for four 8" subs is going to be pretty big. www.diyaudio.com has ENDLESS knowledge of tapped horns.

Exodus Audio ShivaX or TempestX would be a choice of mine
  6. Mmmm...can't wait to get a IXL driver....damn they are sexy
  7. PartSexPress is the only place that I know of that sells the Audiopulse drivers
  8. I have a blown 19Ov.2 Is it possible to get a recone for this motor??? The VC is 2.5" I'd like to recone it down to a 12 or a 10 if possible. Thanks
  9. How much power you use depends on the install, goals, and mainly the enclosure. So what enclosure do you plan on building or having built for this subwoofer??
  10. 1.25 cu ft per chamber for a porteed 12...it may sound nice to you because sq is subjective....but put those subs in a real enclosure and it would get raped.
  11. lol really? i though DD had the loudest? or is it just Alan and his team? 180.5dB sure is loud... but i am just comparing 200w to 1kw and i see no reason it should be louder. it just is update: put in a half farad cap, and some 4ga. the lights stopped dimming, and it definetly blows mtx to peices. maybe some vids when i find my camera charger.... I can't remember if DD's score was official or not. What amps are they? The Pioneer and the MTX amp? mtx is a pyramid power 500x2 briged @ 2ohms for max output. and my guy's amp for the pioneers is a measly Jensen 100x2 did no one catch this?? Your friend with the MTX's is NOT pushing 1000 watts...more of 200-250 watts realistically speaking. Also quit posting about peak numbers like 6k watt amp for 3k dollars and 3kw sub...peak numbers mean nothing. All it does is show your noobness.
  12. why so little port area for a high excursion driver??
  13. aznboi3644 replied to RaTtLz's topic in General Audio
indeed...make sure the spark plugs on the subwoofer are still in good condition. And also you MUST use high flow fuel injectors...Seam foaming the enclosure helps smooth out the response also.
  14. I'd say tune it to 40Hz. I have a Memphis 15 PR in 4.3 cubes tuned to 40Hz with 112.5 sq inches of port area...with only 400 watts everyone thinks I'm pushing 1000 watts.
  15. crossover is a crossover is a crossover. difference is that it can be built in or you can buy an external one...no difference
  16. My 19Ov.2 had a single spider...I cracked the hell out of the spider basically all around the sub. The sub sounded awesome though...cracking the spider was my fault though...10hz in 6 cubes tuned to 40hz with 1000 watts on tap is stupid lol. Visitor's thread though has severely deterred me from buying a 13Av.2 though. Thats why I'm going with an IXL 12.2.2. CHYEA BTW..in eD's response to my thread on ICIX referencing this thread (Which they deleted as ALWAYS lol) eD states the spiders are soft to raise the efficiency and make the sub use the rated power better. As the sub is made to use the power and not made to absorb gobs of power.
  17. Sweet....I can't wait till I sell my current equipment...I already have a Nine.1 waiting for the 12.2.2
  18. I love Bostom speakers
  19. do all of the IXL drivers have the Mach5Audio in the dust cap??? I'm looking to buy the 12.2.2 but on the SSA shop it doesn't have anything on the dustcap
  20. dude seriously...there is no better...depends on application and installation. give it up. your answer is in M5's first post.

wedge enclosure?? bandpass?? 10-20 db increase??? haha SSSUUUUURRRREEE. keep dreaming
  22. looks like that box that flopped was just a 4th order bandpass that was tuned too high....try tuning to your peak frequency
  23. 0 gauge only able to safely carry 150 amps?? its A LOT more than that...4 gauge is safe up to around 150 amps give or take
  24. convert from a rectangle port to a circle port with equivalent area
