Well, I bought the car back in high school, and it's really grown on me. I've thought about buying a new car, but I really like this one. The lights are an easy one. I'm an authorized StreetGlow dealer. That one explains itself. I wanted to experiment with the 7 color LED kit and Wheel Well kit, so why not put it on my own car? As for the vinyls, I agree, they look pretty tacky, but I put them on because I have a friend that does graphics. They were cheap, and he just suggested that we match them to the seat covers. I have been considering taking them off for a few months now, but they've been on there for almost 2 years and I'm sure the paint has faded around them. I think faded spots around where the decals were at would actually look worse than leaving the decals on there. So for now, I'm working on the Chevy Celebrity I bought a few months ago, It's getting a wall and will be my SPL car, then by the end of next summer, I hope to start working on the Grand Am again. Decals come off when new paint goes on

Thanks...I don't think we did too bad for our first ported box. We built another one last night....8.5 cubes tuned to 42 hz in the back of a blazer....it sounds mean! I'll post up pics next time my friend comes over.

That's pretty impressive dude. I honestly didn't think anyone was going to reply to this, but thanks everyone. I ended up going with the downfire, It sounds pretty good, but I'm going to build another one 2" taller for a deeper sound and a little more breathing room for the sub. here's what I built...2.5 cubes if I remember correctly, tuned to 40 hz....not my sub in it, but my friend's has the exact basket and motor as mine. my sub As for the joke about the wall...not in this car....I bought another one for that... Wait until this spring....you'll be able to hear me from anywhere in the country!

Ok, I got my first 15" sub today. All I've ever dealt with before are 10's and 12's. At the moment I have a pair of 12's in the back of my 97 Grand am, each one seeing 1.25 cubes sealed. The box is easy to work with, I can have the whole thing pulled out in a matter of minutes. I would like to have something similar with this 15. One problem....the clearance through the backseat is only 13.5 inches, I believe. The space to go in through the back isn't very easy to work with either. If I build a box that has the sub laying on it's back with the cone up, I really think I'll lose a lot of the potential from the sub that I would normally get from rear-firing it. Also, I have been toying with a couple other ideas. Point the sub up, rear-fire the port? Possibly even downfire with 3 out of the 4 walls passing the baffle and meeting the floor, then have the one to the rear meet the baffle. With this idea I could even use a plexiglass back and still be able to see the basket of the sub. Any ideas or suggestions?

As in....You have seen Atomic? Or, as in......The parts most likely came from the same place as about 5 different manufacturers?

25 posts doesn't mean I don't know about car audio, it just means I'm new to this forum. I'm real proud of you for needing 3 grown men and a sledgehammer to take a wall out. Though I'm slightly curious why you decided to take it out of the bigger vehicle then put a new one in a smaller car. Not my problem though. You'll learn how much better a wall works if you seal the whole thing nice and tight. After all, why else would you build a wall? These questions are not meant to be answered, by the way. Just posting my 2 cents. If you don't like it, ignore it. As the teachers told me in 2nd grade.

As I recall in the thread that got deleted, you said you wouldn't be making any screw holes. What am I supposed to learn from re-reading that you didn't even state in the first place? Good luck, poncho.

Alright, prove me wrong, but I say it's impossible to make that completely secure and still be able to return it back to stock with no holes or adhesive residue.

I'd love to see the first time he drives that thing, hits the brakes and his wall slides up and hits his seat, haha I'm in the process of planning a wall right now, but it sure as hell won't be in a daily driver, haha

When you build a wall/box, you have a choice. Do you want it permanent or removable? A removable box/wall offers the benefit of being able to work on things easier, changing your complete setup more easily, or removing it altogether easily. I have a prefab sealed box in my trunk for that purpose. If I want it out, it slides out. If you want quality, you have to maximize every inch possible. You can't do that and still be able to return completely to stock. You'll either have holes in the trim/floor/whatever, or you'll have adhesive. If you don't...just imagine 600 lbs. sliding forward and pinning you to your steering wheel.....fun fun. I guarantee all those walls that you're talking about that you've seen...are permanent. And it's for that simple fact, they aren't going anywhere. I'd quote Red Foreman at this point, but I think the filter would get me.

I'm a big fan of a roto-zip spiral saw. I picked one up on ebay for 50 bucks that a guy used for drywall then didn't need anymore. Wonderful tool. It has a circle guide that is perfect for making holes in boxes, and it's actually not bad for doing freehand cuts.
