  1. Currently running 2 HDS 215s (600rms, 15 inch) subwoofers in the back seat of a mustang convertible. Not much of an improvement over my previous Sundown E-12s. The problem I believe is the box. being obviously small to fit back there. Around 2 cubes per sub. Would I be better off getting a new box to put back there, say the QBOMB15VL where there is 3.85 cubes (4.2 total) for A SINGLE 15 rather than my 2 15s now. Also found on ebay a 4.0 box (5.33 total) tuned at 32hz. Also I could upgrade the subwoofer to something that can take my 1700rms amp better. Any help appreciated.
  2. I have buyers for my current subs and boxes for $300, which will mean im spending hardly anything at all on the new boxes and subs...so, yeah. I do value that opinion but im just trying to find the best 15 for what I need.
  3. I have moved the subs from the trunk to my backseat and have enjoyed the difference, much better quality and loudness. So im trying to counter some loss of output through more cone area and box. What 15 would do well in ~3 cubes of air at 32ish hz. So I can get two of those I would like something under $200 especially since I know the 2 400rms sundown 12s can handle the amp, i know theres no reason to buy ridiculous expensive subs for this car.
  4. I am currently running 2 (400rms each) Sundown E-12s each in a 1.2 cubic foot ported box at 36hz. Powered by a Hifonics 1700.1 I recently found out that I could put a box in my back seat that will hold 2 15s. (R/T 300 series) thats 3.2 cubic feet per sub tuned at 32hz. Yes I understand 3.2 is just under the gross volume and does not account for the port. I also know it isn't the best box in the world but I can't afford much more right now and it is better than what I have. I have a convertible so I lose a lot of sound but I wanted to upgrade from the 12s to really just have more cone area and maybe a sub that will handle more power than the E series from sundown. I have been looking at several options but was thinking either the Soundqubed 2, or 3 series. I really like the HDS215, but why is it so cheap? Would I be happy with it, I love the price but I don't want it to be worse than my 12s.
  5. I live about an hour north of Atlanta, (Canton, GA) but go to school 3 hours south of it. (Milledgevill, GA) Are there any competitions around this area or any really worth driving a few hours to see? Its already August, but maybe for the 2015 year? I have always wanted to go.
  6. I have 2 Sundown E12s (400 rms version) running each in about .9 cubes each, and they do just fine. (they are reversed mounted to get the most out of the box)
  7. Why are none of the products in the store right now?
  8. What is the RMS for the 12s?
  9. Daily SPL, at MOST I would go is 38hz, but I would be happy at 35. I perfer tuning at 33hz, but if you want more SPL, I would tune around 35-38, dont go to high
  10. Never heard of him!?!?!?! You gunna learn today!!! I have a playlist for his music, it goes pretty hard. And Excision too, check out his music!
  11. I love this stuff! I like Flosstradamus!
  12. I have, its just with the gain where its at for normal listning levels, some songs at higher levels are just to much. Its strange tho, because some of my clear bass boosted songs can get up to like 30/50 before the subs distort. and any normal song playing at 30/50 for like 30 seconds is enough that when you step out of the car you can tell your hearing is weakend. So its LOUD.
  13. Oh yes, it is a convertible, and believe me I know that is a huge obstacle to overcome. I am just doing the best I can until I get a new vehicle. So basicly I am just stuck with what I have. Its fine, thanks tho. Cannot wait until I get an SUV or truck and fill it with bass. I need as much room as I can now because my car is small enough as it is and I take things to and from college all the time. So my backseats are stuffed and allot of the time, so is the front passenger seat.
  14. They get plently loud, don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with them, I just have allot of spare power that could be put to use on a better sub. I was just wondering how to get the most out of my enclosure, not how to tune my amp. Trust me, I spent plently of time on that. The normal volume I listen to is around 18-22 and thats were the subs sound their best. Could I upgrade to a better subwoofer? Or could I stuff the box? Or, any other suggestions? I would like to sound deaden my trunk but i don't want to spend that kind of money for what I may not even notice.
  15. The gain is already really low, and there is no bass boost or anything from the headunit. At low volumes I can't even tell I have subwoofers. like 12/50 then it sounds good around 18-20/50 and to much on some songs at 25/50.
  16. Subs:2, Sundown Audio E-12 v1, 400rms Amp: Hifonics 1700.1 wired to 1 ohm (so 850rms per sub) Box. Custom mustang vert box, .9 cubes per sub sealed. Right now the E-12s are reversed mounted to get the most usable airspace. Is there a subwoofer that would better handle the power such as the soundqubed HDS 200 or 300. Also, should I stuff the box with polyfill or something? I can't turn my volume up to even half on some songs before the subs start to distort or bottom out. So what can I do to improve my setup?
  17. Wow that is really good looking....I got a 00' mustang vert I do want to know if I should upgrade my subs tho from E-12s to Gcon 12s.
  18. I have a dual 12 sealed box, with only .9 cubic feet per chamber (before displacement) and a Hifonics 1700.1 amp. I currently have two Sundown E-12s reversed mounted to 1ohm on the amp. Gain is about 1/4 the way up and I still can't crank the volume to high. Would I do better to upgrade to the Gcon? or other sub?
  19. Oh sweet. That might work. awesome. This build will be a while from now so im not interested now, but thank you.
  20. Lol, an 18 maybe, and I could buy a box for it already amde from davetheboxguy too, but I am not a single sub kind of guy. Designing this box is getting annoying, I am about to go with the 4, 12s.
  21. Is this acceptable? Or Could I get away with using an 8 inch port? or maybe just 2 6 inch ports?
  22. Well for sake of money, I think I want to go with the 2 15s and the box will be my own which is pretty cool. I have a model in Google Sketchup, and I would really like to use a single 10 inch flared aeroport. I can't seem to find any tho. Once I calculate displacement of the woofers and the port, I seem to end up with a box around 7-7.2 cubes, and if I had a 10inch aeroport, about 17 inches long I would have a tuning around 33-35hz which is exactly what I am looking for. I just really dont know where to buy an aeroport. ALSO, the 10 inch port comes to about 5.5 inches from the wall and even closer to the floor and roof, is that to close? Also, the displacement for for the 10 inch aeroport is about .7 cubes, as apposed to 4, 6 inch aeroports, for that tuning which would take up about 2 cubes. Recommended Optimal airspace is 7 cubes for 2 SSA ICON 15s. **With 10 inch aeroport** = 7.1 cubes (Great but I cant find a 10 inch port) & (the 17 inch port length is 5.5 inches from the back wall) **With 8 inch aeroport** = 7.6 cubes (Is this to much airspace with too little port?) **With 2 6in. aeroports** = 7.5 cubes (Still to much airspace with too little port?) If I raise the number of 6 inch aeroports, the length becomes to long for the box and I can't do it, but which of these options seems best. The 10 and the 2 6's seem to be what I need to do. Which one?
  23. Okay, so there are two ways I can go about this. In the back of a Grand Cherokee I want either 2 15s or 4 12s. I was looking at buying 2 Dual 12 aeroport boxes from Davetheboxguy. Just hooking up 4 Soundqubed HDS200s and calling it a day. OR I could design and create my own box for 2 15s (I was thinking SSA ICON or the HDS300s or perhaps the HDC 3.0) The amplifier will possibly be a BC2000d good for 2250 rms. I could step it up if need be if somebody could recommend an amp that doesn't cost much more but will give enough power. Should I go with 4 12s, or 2 15s. (Yes I know its preference but I am good with either one so help me out here) and I am going to start working on designs for 15 inch boxes within the specs of the cargo dimensions. For the Aeroports, could I use 2 8's or 4 6's or what? The box will be around 7-9 cubes.
  24. How is 4cubes (after displacment) with a 6inch Aero port for 2 12s? 2 cubes per sub. Tuned to around 35hz btw.
