  1. If i turn loudness off its like i almost loose all my sound, and the gain has to go up nearly 3/4. And i dont listen to anything above 40hz so i keep it low around 45-50hz. And sub is wired to 1ohm, postitive on one coil hooked to positive on opposite coil then from there to the amp, same with negative wires.
  2. All stock electrical, 0gauge power and ground. Ive having to use loudness on headunit to really make a difference. If i turn it off subs barely moving and gain has to go way up, so i use loudness and bass level all the way up then set my amp.
  3. Idk i cant find any recommendations. Ive been searching for awhile, ive kinda been going with what other people recommend. Nothing on sundowns website, or on google so far. Amp settings: gain is a little less than halfway. Bassboost all the way down, subsonic at about 23 or 24. Lowpass is maybe at 45, phase at 0
  4. Well i guess this explains why im not happy with the current box, something just sounds off. Its like a maze inside the box. Port is on right side, and it goes straight back, turns 90degrees left then leads to a 180degree turn right then back to another 90degree left turn. tPort length was at about 45"
  5. Thanks for clearing that up. Another quick question when designing port is it better to go with a typical slot port or an labyrinth port? Or is there no difference?
  6. never heard or owned a 4th order, but id like to spend weekend building one for my sundown x10. Can anyone help me out with this? maybe help me with some designs or advice. i have it in a 1.6 cube slot ported box tuned at 34hz. sealed off from trunk firing into cabin. for my tastes it is not tuned low enough, i was going to snatch everything out and go with a 2 cube box at 30hz. but ive been reading about 4th orders and im really interested in them now. would a 4th be ok for a daily with this sub? goes in dodge charger so i have plenty of trunk space, and can provide max deminisons if needed. i also have the sub specs if it helps. ive read to go with the 2:1 ratio with these boxes, if correct how big should i go with sealed side? and how big with ported and the tuning? i listen to mostly decaf music, all i really care about is the 25-38hz range. FS - 27.9hz QES - 0.43 QMS - 4.7 QTS - 0.39 SD - 366cm^2 VAS - 19.47L BL - 21.67 MMS - 317g CMS - 102um/n SENS - 81.66db 30mm xmax at (70% BL)
  7. ahhhhh ok. thanks for help man
  8. Have no idea about that lol. I dont know to much about things like that
  9. Thanks, the calculator fixed my confusion. I didnt realize the area changes due to different tuning. My stupid mistake.
  10. Ive read quite a few different posts on the net and there seems to be an argument with what the correct port area for one of these subs is. Im trying to come up with a new box and im unsure on what kind of port area i need. Ive seen on the smd forums someone said the minimum should be 52 sqin of port, then ive seen the number 38 sqin on other, and also had someone say they contacted sundown and it should be 20 sqin?? This is the only thing keeping me from starting on a new box. Can someone please help me out with this? If it helps, box will be around 2cubes at 30hz ran with a hifonics brz2100. I know its not the best of amps but it is what im stuck with for now. Also this may help some. sub has 30mm xmax at 70%BL I know theres a rule of thumb with port area but im reading that with a sub with this much throw it requires more.
  11. alright, well honest opinion whats the best sub i can get for no more than $300. for a daily driver, but also able to get loud.
  12. ok, im just really hoping this works out. ive tryed with ported enclosures but im just not having luck lol. i dont have much expierence with ported and every single one ive ever built sounded like shit. and now with my charger im mind fucked with trying to solve my problem. i went to big with the 18'' but i think i can make it work out (one day) eventually. Just recently i had a 6cuft box with an 8'' pvc tuned to 33hz half internal half external shooting thru the left rear seat. but of course once again SHITTY.
  13. yeah i know, i went to big. im not that worried about ported, im just wondering how it will sound in a sealed box firing through backseat area. exactly like this but sealed.
  14. i recently bought the ssa icon 18'' and and ive been through all kind of boxes with my charger and seems like it is nothing but a bass sponge back there. so i was wondering about this in my new build, i plan on sealing the box off from the trunk in maybe a 5 or 6cuft sealed box, ive tried ported but im just not getting the results i want, which previously it sounded better sealed. so basiclly all im asking is do u think a sealed box for this 18'' will sound good sealed of from the trunk? any help is appreciated.
