  1. Price on the Chaos line?
  2. x3049820384
  3. Bump... Right now ive narrowed it down to... 1. 15" BTL or 2. 2 12" Havocs Any input on the potentially loudest of the 2 setups?
  4. I'm with you 100% on the budget thing man lol. Honestly, I'd keep my eye on the classifieds... You can pick up a very nice used amp for the LOW. Kicker kx2500's are always going for 350-400 over there.
  5. Lol, I'm gonna bring plenty of video to record so everyone else who doesnt get to attend can see as well. Them BTL's are definately sexy. With the BTL's, I'm thinking farther down the road for when I/if I decide to upgrade... it would be so much easier to work with 2 15"s in my car than 4 12"s. Joe, I guess my old man's going to be riding out there with me as well as my younger brother, so I'll be sure to let them get a taste of what a real system sounds like lol
  6. Remember, going from 1000 to 1500 rms is going to be a barely audible difference if you had hooked the JL subs up to the sundown after the jl1000/1. I personally hate JL (bring on the flaming)... But either way, I can't see sacrificing cone area and only gaining 500 rms being a noticable difference, if not a loss in spl. If you do decide to go with the BTL, you should def. look into putting 2k+ to it at least, and that's only based on the theory that doubling your power gives you a +3db increase.
  7. 17" WIDE?! Are you sure lol
  8. First off I have always been against facing a sub upwards for several reasons but I must say The BTL works very good like that and the Fi bad boy Steve Meade may be to thank for the popularity of that with his awesome website. www.*****.com Not saying he was the first to do it but just check out his install you'll understand better what I'm trying to convey! I have personally gone against my own beliefs and must say it works really good. As far as firing directly into the cab goes I would look more into that. Seems like the longer you can delay the sound from getting to your ear , the more time the note has to develop. Popular way (again along w/ Steve Meade) is sub up port back. If you put the port on the passenger side the driver side will be a lil louder and vise versa if you'd rather have the passenger getting his or her head banged a lil more. Port in the middle should be a lil more even for both driver and passenger! As far as amps go......In my opinion Iwould spend some book money...hehe but another "choice", choice would be to get an affordable 350-400 Sundown 1500. My BTL sounded awesome with 1500 on it!!!!!!!! Then when you can get a lil more dough you can simply add another 1500 by "strapping" them together in a master slave relationship or trade it in to Jacob @ Sundown and he'll switch you out for a 3000 at a fair price. Then you'll have what I got boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sundown definately performs and bigboys are using em' Good Luck Send a pm if you'd like PEACE Ronrico Lol, no disrespect man, but just because Steve Meade does it, doesn't mean it's the best way for everyones installs. Meade's is in a SUV first of all... Subs up work alot better in SUV's because there is alot more clearance between the peak of the subs excursion and the roof. He's working with 17" of hieght so you're looking at 3 " of clearance from the rear deck to the sub TOPS. 17" is assuming that he's calculated for the hieght of the angle that he'll need to slide the box in. The box with the sub facing up in a honda has never worked well for me, or my friends installs unless there is some sort of cut-out of the rear deck to where the sub is firing straight at. Sealing the sub off from the trunk will elminate any trunk rattle that you may have along with the ability to move much more air (assuming the sub will be visible, i.e. Seats down) As far as the amps go, there's no need to pay $700 for 2 used 1500 watt amps when you can buy an Autotek MM4000.1 for the same price brand new with a warranty. I'm not saying used products are a bad thing, it's just that Sundown isn't really a college budget friendly amp. Keep an eye on the classifieds on here and over on ca.com, for there's always rediculously well priced used equipt. for sale. This is from one college student to another lol Goodnight!
  9. The crunch gp3000 is a solid amp for the money. However, the gp2500 is rated for 2500 "dynamic watts"... Which is their new term for peak. You're not going to see 2500 or even 2000 from that gp2500. As far as the sub choice goes... With the BTL I've been told that you should face the sub and port into the car and seal it off from the rest of the trunk so that the bass goes straight into the cabin. Facing the sub up in a trunk car is not a good idea, you will have more success facing forwards or backwards. Shoot for 4-4.5 cu ft @ 32 and it should waNg. Hope that helps! Andrew
  10. Lol, soooo many choices. I had started reallllllly looking into the Havocs, but no one has had any input on them so far with the exception of a few... Any particular reason for that? I really don't mind running the 2 12"s, I just really enjoy the "Wow" factor from a strong single sub setup. My last system was a 15" Mag on a Memphis 1100 in 3.5 ^ 30hz... Only reason I sold that system was to take a serious step up as far as the SPL factor goes. I was doing 142's on music out of my trunk with that setup. I figured with the added power and change of equiptment, I'd like to shoot for 145's daily. TL numbers will mean nothing to me though as long as it has the ability to get loud as hell to the ear. Don't get me wrong, the Mag was THE most versatile drivers I've heard to date... Again, just wanting to add more balls to it. So now the list looks like this... 1. 2 12" BL's 2. 2 12" Havoc's 3. 1 15" BTL 4. 2 12" Icons In no particular order.
  11. Alright, I see where you're coming from. Valid point. I've just heard one or two used in daily setups and I was just amazed at the output from the single sub, while still keeping up with music like slipknot. Are you recommending 2 12" BL's or a single 15"?
  12. Just curious, will you guys have a booth at SBN? Anything for sale?
  13. What do you mean what the BTL will give me? Sorry if I sound ignorant lol, but could you please elaborate. Also, wont the 1250 each be too little for the bl's? Yea, honestly I was trying to avoid Fi just for that reason. However, no matter how many people are running them on the forums, I'd say they've def. proven themselves for price to performance. The Icons are on my list as well. It would end up being between the Q's and Icon's if I go the route of the 2 12"s. The BTL is looking like the better choice right now due to the fact it's cheaper and I think it may finally be the sub to begin to tingle my spl nerves lol. Thanks so far guys! Keep em' coming!
  14. What's going on guys. I've been putting together some ideas and funds for my next project. The car is a 99' Honda Civic Ex coupe. So far I've picked up a Kicker kx2500.1 for my subs. My next question may come off as a FAQ, but this is a more specific question towards my application. Right now it's a toss up for me between 2 12" Fi Q's or a single 15" BTL. Either system will be sealed off from the trunk in around 4 cu. ft tops. I'll play a variety of music on this system, mostly rap, but it will be shown off FREQUENTLY... I'm just looking to get as loud/low to the ear as possible on a daily basis. I am open to other ideas as well, I'm just favoring these 2 in particular due to having heard these subs, but in completely opposite setups. Cliffs: 4 cu. ft. @ 30-35hz, sealed from trunk in 99' Civic coupe Kicker kx2500.1 $500ish budget for subs Goals: Loudest/musical daily setup to the ear using the information provided (Music: Mostly rap, but a wide variety of others as well) Again, just looking for specific advice from people with experience with these subs. Thanks in advanced, Drew
  15. Bro, I'm so stoked for SBN lol... This is Drew
  16. So is there anything that Fi can do to an MT to improve it overall as far as reconing goes?

Hey guys. I'm in the process of picking up a Memphis 4k. Quite the difference from the original 2500 rms I was thinking lol. Now I just have to figure which is going to get me the best performance on a student budget. I can't make up my mind on which though. 2 15" BL's are right at $700 or I can do the 2 btl's which will be around 900 fully loaded. If I did the 2 15" BTL's and giving them only 2k a piece, what options would I need to have put on them? Thanks Andrew
  20. yea, john. he's man manG. It's like 153 on music right dev.?

^^^ That's what I was thinking. I might as well do it right the first time. Does anyone know if a single IA 40.1 will power those subs nicely?
  22. Andrew replied to Andrew's topic in Fi Products
Hey, sorry I was away for a while... From what I calculated I'll have around 12-14cu ft to work w/. I figured that should be enough for the 2 18"s... Will that be sufficient for the 2 18"s? The amp I was looking into running is the IA 40.1 at 1/2 ohm. Would that be enough power? I know they do 3600x1 but I've heard that theyve been tested to to well over 4k at 1/2. I'm pretty much set on the BTL's right now because of the upgrading option as well. If the IA wont be sufficient, does anyone else have any other amps recomendations. Remember money IS an object lol Thanks for the help so far, Andrew

Any reasoning behind the idea of 2 bl's over the btl's? j/w Like tejcurrent said, I could do 1 15" BTL for now and then upgrade it when funds are a lil more accessible. Just a thought. Will the 2 bl's perform better then the btl? I see the BL's for sale used everywhere. Just wondering

I've taken all the risks and precautions into considersation.... No rearview mirror, big flying box, damaged equipt. just off the top of my head. I plan on marking everything up first w/ cardboard so I know exactly what is going where
