Port HELP!
using that size port you said the best you could do is 30" long which would be tuned at 40hz (to high imo) 20in port per ft (way too much) and net would be 1.35 before sub displacement

Port HELP!
that port size isnt going to work you could do 9.5" tall 2" wide 27" length (it will have to be an L port) that would bring you down to 1.66 net volume tuned to 32hz 11.45 port per ft you also need to account for sub and bracing displacement.

crescendo 3500 ??
you wont have much of a gain going to a 3500 from 2200 if you ran 2 2200 strapped at 1ohm .5 each you would have a much greater gain. but of course would need more electrical. and is your front battery stock? if so replacing that could make a bigger difference than another 3100

Head Unit Tuning
if you have distortion to the point you can hear it you are already severley clipping. saying oscopes are un neccesarry is kind of ubsurd. this might be ok practice in lower power setups but when you are running alot of power specifically when running over rms to a sub a scope will be a great tool. also how will you know what level your headunit starts sending a clipped signal at? a oscope or dd1 can help you find the source of clipping.

Head Unit Tuning
when using an eq you should use it for attentuating frequencies dont go above 0. and dont use any bass boost on the h.u or amp. when im tuning my door speaker i turn my gain up till i hear distortion in my mids/highs then back down a little and eq from there than turn gainback up if neccessary. and the clipping light on your bass knob is usually slightly premature.
