  1. hi, what is the rule of thumb for port tuning to gun for in SPL install? 45~48hz? cheers
  2. hi, I'm using the online port calculator at RE Audio to calculate the port dimensions. However, if i want to use two subs in a shared air space, how do i calculate the port dimensions for a shared port on the two subs? or it does not matter since the port dimensions will depend on the box volume only.

thanks Booosh. It is a long read but with details I do have Autosound discs and i'm using them when scoping the amp output. But is it ok to use tone generator to generate test tone at 0db? is tone generator accurate in terms of dB level?

i just wanted to know what is the correct way of using oscilloscope to set amplifier gain. 1. Do you scope the amp with the speakers connected? or just hook up the scopemeter to the amp speaker terminal? 2. What test tone to use to set subwoofer amp, midrange amp and tweeter amp? Will 50hz and 1khz be sufficient? I do notice that if i set amp gain at 80hz and then play 50hz test tone, the amp output is clipped. So how low on test tone frequency shall i use for sub amp? 3. For music playback, is it better to use 0db test tone or -3db / -6 db for gain overlap? thanks

  13. yep, i know that will not affect the subs but it is the feeling of seeing your new subs come with imperfection. Kind of buying brand new car with a dented door.. BTW, how can i polish those blemishes?
  14. I see the BL has vent holes at the sides all around. But how do other subs do their cooling since they do not have side vents but only pole vent? i believe that is the conventional way of cooling the voice coil
  15. i mean they really DROP it buhuhu.. Two chipped magnets on the first sub http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll314/_...nt=DSC00235.jpg http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll314/_...nt=DSC00244.jpg http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll314/_...nt=DSC00246.jpg and on the second sub : http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll314/_...nt=DSC00256.jpg http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll314/_...nt=DSC00257.jpg

the Image Dynamics horn cost to me is kind of out of my budget. The Scans tweeters are kind of high to me as well but seems nice
  18. will flatwind work on a brahma re-cone?

how much does the CDT ES-02 tweets cost? also is this tweets ok? Scan-Speak D3004/6600 Textile dome tweeter http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_i...roducts_id=1738 the freq. response curve shows that it can play lower than 1khz
  20. kippo replied to kippo's topic in General Audio
    what horns do you recommend

i have the Adire Audio Koda component set. If i put the Extremis as the midbass driver here in 3-way setup, will it be ok? or is it too much to ask from 6.5" driver to be a good midrange
  22. kippo replied to kippo's topic in General Audio
i would guess that is Scanspeak tweeter. How low can it be crossed? Just wondering, what is so good about Scanspeak Revelator tweeter? thanks
  23. kippo replied to kippo's topic in General Audio
Thanks for the feedback guys what kind of tweeters do Ascendant have? I'll check out Seas & Hybrid Audio tweets. The Scanspeak Revelator is nice but darn expensive. What is a good non-ear piercing Seas tweets? ///M5, you're saying that the Extremis mid-range performance is not really that good that it is more suitable for use as midbass driver? To use 2" or 3" driver is mainly for horn setup yep?

hi, i have a pair of Adire Audio Extremis lying around for more than a year already. As i want to install them, what tweeters are best used or matched/suitable with it? planned to power with JL Audio 450/4 and using the onboard crossover. thanks
  25. i plan for a removable setup. The problem is that the weakest part will be presence of glass (window) on the side of the front wall. Do you lose dB a lot this way? so if i bring forward the front wall to be as close as possible to the front seat, how close can i be? i've read that you need at least 4" port mouth clearance on the front so as not to 'choke' the port.
