  1. Thanks guys, nice to hear people are liking what I'm doing. Well just got off the phone with Scott Buwalda from Hybrid-Audio (awesome customer service btw) and looks like the legatias will be here by the end of the week. That means today I need to get going on the kick panels, so hey more exciting stuff today (I hope) Also need some ideas for the trunk, My thought was to rhino-line and paint everything pitch black. I think it will look pretty sick, but if anyone has something they think is better BESIDES FIBERGLASS then please do tell. (I say no fiberglass because I want to be different and although it is cool, I think i've seen just about every fiberglass trunk imaginable.
  2. oh, ok not bad at all, maybe i will try them, thanks guys! Scott, still waiting on reply for those assasin's in a sealed enclosure, thanks man.
  3. do you know how much they run?
  4. the BL 10" is an awesome woofer, saw a vid of a guy hitting 148.6 or 148 point something with a BL 10 in his trunk, ported, off of 2500 watts, pretty impressive IMO, says it's capable of 150 and I don't don't it, lol window flex with one 10. (fully loaded with options of course)
  5. 15 would be a bit louder, but you would get a lot bigger "wow" factor out of the 1 12", as in no one would believe you only have one 12.
  6. Ok, The design is now complete on the trunk, and most of the framework is done, just have to get the router from my dad (1 hour away) to cut the baffle, and do some of the small finishing pieces and the mdf work on the trunk will be done. got the bottom piece of the trunk in, and threw in the box, a blue top i had laying around and two of my amps to size things up and paint a picture in my head. metal self tapping screws to keep things in place and tight down to the car use some small "L" brackets to fasten the box to bottom trunk piece cut out the corner of the piece to gain access to the space where the spare tire once was. this will be used to run wire straight from "under" the amps to the part of the trunk not visible, i figure about 1 1/2" of wire will be visible from each terminal on the amps and that's it in the trunk. getting the amp rack designed battery will be under the amp of the left, right next to one of the trunk's air vent, a fan will be placed here for circulation, should earn me max points for that part of the judging now for the second baffle piece got to make a couple extra cuts for this one and of course i sanded and smoothed the edges, want everything to look perfect got the pieces for the right side cut, fitted, and temporarily fastened. only laid out the left side first to get an angle for the battery to fit. don't worry all gaps will be filled here's a center speaker I threw together with some focal coax i had sittin around, sounds pretty damn good off a HT receiver aimed out to the workshop "garage" of course lol Things to do tomorrow: 1.) finish cutting/fitting pieces for left side of amp rack 2.) attempt to find/purchase second battery and 0 gauge wire 3.) get the kick panels designed and materials to get them started.
  7. kickin audio not sure what FTL means, but all i have is a cell phone, no camera sorry, i would buy a camera but wold rather buy a second battery
  8. yes, i'm going to double the baffle, just didn't do it yet, because, well that piece may be cut much wider to close off much of the gap on each side of the box. for bracing i'm going to try something new on the outside of the box. actually the box was a little over 5 cuft net, here's the actual design of it (remember this is the old box) ok back to work now, hopefully will get pics of the amp rack up tonight.
  9. bump! Would you have any other suggestions on mid-bass drivers that would do that extremely well? i would still like to use the assasin if it would work well in a sealed enclosure for my application
  10. Alright, tore out my 4.8cuft ported box for the Q and stripped out amps and all. I am now going to start the new build. In this build will be a pair, maybe two, of Hybrid audio legatia L1 tweets, a pair of hybrid's L4 mids, a 15" Q, 3-4 amps, and a pair of 8" mid-bass, not yet determined from who though. System will be setup actively using my alpine HU feeding the awesome fosgate 3sixty.2 processor. Build will include, new sealed box for the Q, amp rack, mounting for distribution block, processor, and second battery in the trunk. Also included will be the door panel build to fit 8's, and the kick panels for the tweets and mids. Not to mention tons of dynamat, monster cable speaker wire, and fosgate competition rca's and 4 gauge power wire, and db link 0 gauge wire. This vehicle will be entered in SQ and/or LSQ competitions this year, goal is the spring, summer at the latest. I expect the build to be mostly done by mid-Jan and completed by end of Jan...hopefully... well here's the first pics! everything ripped out and trunk is bare again (besides the little bit of dynamat previously applid) then some dynamat then some more dynamat sound deck is now completely dynamated on both sides and now to start the box, here's basically my "workshop" oh and of course plenty of titebond, gotta love the new "titebond III" and she's complete here's the two amps and the 15" Q that were taken out, much more equip. will be put back in with these components Yes, I know this is the boring part of the build but hey the beginning stages take time to appreciate it, thank you! Next is amp rack and/or kick panels not decided yet!
  11. well, since you want hella loud, the BTL is definitely the woofer for you, one 12 or 15 ported would be perfect, the 15 would be a little louder obviously, and wouldn't take up too much space, maybe just over 3 cuft ported to, well if you like the real low notes then maybe 32 hz, 35 would make it a bit louder over a wider range though.

SUV? go ported man, you'll love them, just remember ur not going to be able to run the woofers at a normal ohm load when running 3 of them, so that will alter the performance of the amplifier.
  13. The Q's are the sound quality line, so of course they will have a little better quality, and also take much more of a beating. IMO I think it would sound worse and not be as loud. If you want louder you need to upgrade amp and/or build new box. Since you have two of those amps you could do two 18" BL's fully loaded, that should be quite a bit louder.

X2, would this be a sealed application or ported? if sealed, two X's will handle that power, if you do it correctly. Ported you can still use them, but remember you have a lot more power than their rated. Personally with a thousand watts I'd go with a Q series, that's what i have, it's the sound quality line from Fi, absolutely awesome, incredible sound sealed, and slams with authority ported with still plenty of SQ. (not saying they're aren't loud sealed either)
  15. absolutely disgusting, how about another set in the kick panels? pillars? lol, those doors are going to be insane.
  16. Alright, I see what you're saying, I have to build out my door panels anyway to fit 8's, I really want 8's, especially since the L4 can cover such a large range a 6 would almost be pointless, if in the correct sealed enclosure in the door panel how would it perform between say 45hz-130hz?? btw: not sure if you remember who I am, but the friend that was with me at the world finals is trying to order a couple 12" X's on the closeout, sent out an e-mail Friday I believe and waiting on a reply, I know you're busy and he's not in a rush just want to make sure he gets a pair, original e-mail was sent to [email protected] but didn't go through that was sent last Wednesday. As always thanks for the support Scott! Matt (Q 15 d2 with BP in 4.8 cuft @ 28hz) p.s. your design which is turning heads everywhere, (I've actually had a shop owner call up his boy with two 15" solobarics on 2500watts telling him i'm hitting 2...wait...maybe 3 times harder!! lol on 1200 tested watts at 14.4v gotta love it!!

Ok, I am most likely purchasing the L1 and L4 legatia drivers from Hybrid next week, and would like to use the Assasin 8's to complete a 3-way active component system. My plan was to xover the L4 down to ~140 maybe 150, then have the 8's from that number down to about 45, and the 15" Q from that down to 28. Would the assassin 8 be great for this? also, I wanted to mount it in the doors, (the L4's and L1's are going in kick panels). how wold it do in IB and what kind of power handling am I looking at? (i could build little sealed enclosures for them in doors if needed. (crossing fingers) hopefully will be ready for some of next seasons SQ competitions. re-posting it here because no one has replied yet over on the AA section.

  20. how about one 12" BL with flatwind on 1300 watts ported say...2.5 cuft tuned to 31 hz? something like that, should make you feel like your ears are bleeding, at least that's how I like to listen to music. lol oh, and I think any single woofer from Fi would whoop on two CVR's, I have gone up against two different system's with two kicker solobarics, one was L5's, one L7's, both running over 2kw's, and put them down with ease with one 15" Q on 1kw, fosgate
  21. dang, only wish i worked less to see this stuff in time, lol, nice job, pretty happy with my Q15 anyway, although that X probably coulda got my home theatre bumpin pretty damn good
  22. ROFLMFAO Buzz Lightyear? Well not sure if ur pulling our chains nick, but I still like it. Do tell the rest, very interested!
  23. glad to see you are running the 3sixty processors, I though you did but wasn't sure, I am currently saving up for a 3sixty.2, a t600-4, and a t400-2 to run some hybrid legatia 3-way components. Another question, I notice you use powermaster's in the back, but yellow-top under the hood? why not all yellow-tops? or why not all powermasters? (i'm in the market for a 2nd batt currently have single yellow-top under hood) OH AND OF COURSE GREAT VID!!! Always a pleasure watching your vids, I think steve meade vids are an addiction. p.s. Your vids helped me find Fi car audio and are the reason I run them now.
  24. Get that guy's fosgate t2000.1bd, thos amps are sick, that thing will actually push over 3kw at 1 ohm, and be very clean. just make sure you have the electrical system to do it. fosgate amps are my personal favorite, closely followed by zapco, and I am anxious to someday use a sundown. oh yes, and US amps kick ass as well.
  25. I have wondered that myself actually. But the more I talk about them the more I love the names and don't really think about what they mean. Yes, I would think Q has something to do with quality. SSD- Show,Stop, and Drop? Q- Quality BL- Bitchin Loud BTL- Break The Levy's Not sure on how to spell levy's, you know like the walls that hold water.
