Other drugs do not have generic equivalents because of patents. Eli Lilly, for example, holds a patent in the US for atomoxetine under the name Strattera, which costs ~$6 per pill. There are no patents on this drug in India, or any other country for that matter. Corner the market, then raise prices; it stinks but it's Economics 101. By purchasing atomoxetine from a Canadian pharmacy, I have the choice of either Canadian made Strattera for ~$6 per pill, UK made Strattera for ~$5 per pill, or Indian made Teva atomoxetine for ~$1.50 per pill. Yes, I know that I'm talking about Canadian pharmacies. It's just an example, though. I could have just as easily mentioned the $4 and $10 generics my grandparents get filled by Walmart.
