(or you cooked them WAY too long in lower, but I doubt that) Yeah we managed to keep the oil temp up there somehow; frying on a ceramic cooktop is a bitch, even with a turn of the century cast iron fry pot. Looks like plenty of places online with NMMA FC-W certified 25w-40 and 10w-30 for about 4-6 a quart, that'll work; basically 25 bucks to change the oil in this thing another 7-10 for the gearcase, power trim uses just plain ole ATF

manual recommends a 25w-40 type motor oil; thinking I can just dump in some 30 weight and be done with it.. random thought since this is a boat we're talkin bout here; if its too cold to mow its too cold to boat, you know?

Seems our Mercury outboard has both a low pressure mechanical lift pump and a high pressure electric fuel pump. I can honestly say I've never seen a lift pump on a gasoline powered engine before.
