  1. a quad core i5 Lynnfield, Intel H55 motherboard, 4GB of RAM, and a half-ass vid card will set you back about 400-500 or so; plenty of oomph
  2. NewEgg.com has been nothing short of excellent in the 7+ years I've been using them. As far as something that will last a while loading up on RAM helps in that area tremendously.
