  1. I guess what I should be asking is, just how hot can you get a skillet/wok
  2. Does High Performance Concrete handle heat better than regular everyday concrete? I've heard that the regular stuff you pick up at Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, et al doesn't hold up to high heat on a normal day to day basis.

  14. Initial damage report for East Texas: Over 120,000 without power, 87 known locations of trees on roadways, 58 known locations of downed power lines or outages, 12 known houses with trees fallen on them, and a commercial building with a roof collapse.
  15. Body finally stopped aching. I never fully realized just how many joints the human body has up until now
  16. Of course you're going to have power, you have a dedicated 138 kV line coming to you
  17. Footnote #02: SFASU has officially rescinded this morning's statement of "since we have power to 99% of our facilities (read: dorms and classrooms have power) we aren't going to bother with canceling classes on Monday" to "classes are canceled on Monday". Douchebags
  18. Footnote: I had no idea there were so many Indians at Lamar
  19. Parents evacuated to my place in Nacogdoches, grandparents evacuated to my uncle's house in Humble. Ike came within 4 miles of parent's house before it went north. They got maybe 2" of rain and a large pile of twigs in the yard. It barely even scraped my grandparent's trailer. Ike barreled through East Texas and completely decimated Houston, Polk, Cherokee, Angelina and Nacogdoches counties, taking out power poles, trees, and everything in between. After the winds subsided we went out to survey the damage, two power poles feeding my side of town are down (one is located in a rather deep gully); I can assure you power won't be back on in my apartment until at least sometime Monday afternoon at the very, very, very earliest. Parents and I had to spend the night without power, as every road out of Nacogdoches was either flooded, covered by fallen trees, or both (my joints still ache from the humidity). Took 7 hours to go 300 miles back home to my parents house, going through Aggie Town and every back road we could find to avoid the traffic on the main roads. Long story short, after evacuating the coast because of a dangerous hurricane both my grandparents, my parents and myself got hit by a dangerous hurricane 150 and 250 miles inland, respectively.
