  1. Water doesn't run uphill, so any driving rain against the window will eventually run to the bottom frame of the window. Screwing the bottom frame of the window provides a conduit for the water to travel through into the structure.
  2. and they damned well better not screw the bottom of the window into place
  3. Doesn't just have to be a simple, boring block either
  4. I know all my examples are all stone or brick exteriors, but it applies to all window installations.
  5. That is french to me. What a window sill should look like. There is one single (aka monolithic) piece of concrete: These are multiple piece window sills. Notice the joints. If you don't install them properly (most installers do not), there will be water intrusion in the structure. Mold, rot, etc. follow.
  6. First thing in the morning take a piss. Second thing you do, weigh yourself. That is the only accurate measurement of weight. I can weigh myself first thing in the morning and it will weigh 250-252 lbs. By 3PM I'll weigh 260-262. By morning it'll be back down to 250-252.
  7. I'll think of more as the day goes on.
  8. Insist on single piece precast sills.
  9. Hopefully it's not double brick construction. Oye.
  10. What kind of trim? Wood grain showing or painted? If it's painted, MDF is far cheaper and visually indistinguishable from pine.
  11. I'd start at 30 and see how his eyes glaze over,
  12. Call now and get a free set of the world famous Ginzu knives!
  13. Of course I use the good ole' boy system of "Materials x 2 = Total Job Cost". No charge for labor for family members.
  14. Where would you get materials? Lowe's, Home Depot, Sutherlands, and/or Menard's
  15. Texas' version of Polish jokes
  16. Aggies...
  17. Would take a lot longer, though.
  18. Hell I could probably do them for you for 30, if the materials cost about the same as they do down here.
  19. Of course. I haven't negotiated yet either. Ok good. I saw the price and instantly thought "DAMN THOSE ARE SOME EXPENSIVE ASS WINDOWS".
